Do you really care for the reason why? Really, who cares?

Fair point.

I guess i'm just trying to say the update is only really meant to disable the Yellowsnow unlock IMO and they just slapped on a Safari/Mail bug fix. Thats all.

Which is why i think its a pointless update...mostly

Anyway enough of the banter. Back on topic, everyone update and enjoy.

iPod Touch 2G is 5H11a

also fixes "Fixed issue that caused some Apple Lossless (ALAC) audio files to skip during playback"

So going by that thinking Mac OS 10.5.x updates are also dumb then? Just because the issues it fixed doesn't effect you doesn't mean its not hurting someone else's iPhone experience.

couldn't agree with you more. well said.

Ah but you did wait a few months. Its not my amusement. Why not fix these two bugs a week or so after the 2.2 update why wait this long for a point upgrade i guess is my frustration.

Im all for bug fixes but if these are the only two things they fixed why not release the update a week or so after 2.2 why wait 2 months.

That's a neat trick. Take over my position and then pretend that I was the one with your opinion.

If you want to change your mind to agree with me, that's fine, but then why make it sound like you're still disagreeing with me, when you're just saying what I already said?

Not my intention, i haven't been congruent i agree...i'm kinda distracted is why. Anyway my previous post contains what i'm trying to convey...hopefully

Note that the 3G firmware was updated as well. The two fixes* in the changelog are clearly not all that's there (the changelog does say "fixes including the following"). I'm 99.999% certain that Apple wasn't "waiting" to release these fixes, they were working on them and testing them.

*also note that one of those fixes could actually be many many smaller improvements. Stability is usually not a matter of fixing one bug.

Sim card lock bug fix?

Hey, can someone verifiy if this update fixed the bug where if your phone is sim locked and you hard reset it, it will bypass the sim lock? Thanks if anyone tries this out.

True..Apple typically doesn't release absolutely everything that was fixed. Which is weird IMO. I want to know what I'm installing and know exactly what it does.

Safari from 2.2 had a better memory footprint and less memory leak than the one from 2.1... I've been testing them. Perhaps Safari from 2.2.1 has an even smaller memory footprint and even less memory leaks. If so, the whole iPhone experience will benefit from the Safari update.

Dumb newbie ?

I just jailbroke my phone a couple of weeks ago. Can i update like I used to? Or does it brick the phone?

Well... that could be tricky. I mean, would you want something like http://trac.webkit.org/changeset/40289 on the changelog? I work on WebKit myself, and I still don't understand the significance or implications of that change.

Because this is not how s/w development works. You have to do regression tests etc. and that takes time.

Since the update, My iphone now processes data as 100110011100101 instead of 001100110101. Setting up genius appt as I speak. Oh- iFart is much snappier (and smellier)

I'm not entirely sure as my memory is fuzzy about this but i'm in the uk and this may be true

-public transport in google maps are not greyed out anymore. I Can't see any transport links though. Can someone confirm what the case was before? If you're on the old firmare, test central london and see if the public transport button is lit up. if this is the case, maybe google is prepping some of these features

-no streetview as of yet uk! :( no little red button on google maps

-still displaying KM instead of miles!!!!

-emoji still works with the frostyplace hack

-i read rumours of notes syncing to mobileme - nope :(
