Rip him about his declining skills all you want

Okay!

He's a vortex of suckitude in the outfield and can't hit second base without a cutoff man. He's grossly overpaid ($12 million) for his skillset, which at this point is DHing against LHP and calling ahead for reservations at Dorsia.

Including last night's harrowing brush with respectability, here's his line for the season:

114 AB
2 HR
4 2B
14 RBI
15 K
.246 BA
.315 OBP
.333 SLG
.648 OPS

The only other DH with worse stats and at least 100 AB is Jason Giambi. Bernie Williams sucks.

And his CD sucked, too.

And can someone give me a list of who the "True Yankees" are? I keep forgetting. How many of them are still playing?

True Yankee, Tino Martinez AL Home Run King. :p
Bernie Williams 11 Career Grand Slams Passes Mickey Mantile on the All Time Yankee list.

So the Yankees have won 9 in a row and the Red Sox have lost 2, to Oakland, the worst team in baseball, and Seattle a team thats just as bad. :p

If I recall correctly, the Sox swept Oakland in Fenway last week, while the Yankees only took 2 of 3.

Three of the four most recent Sox losses have been at the hands of AAA or replacement level pitching: Cla Meredith in the DHeader against the Mariners at Fenway, Jeremi Gonazalez against the Ms at Safeco, and International Serial Killer Mike Myers last night. It happens.

The Yankees have won 9 straight against Oakland, the worst team in baseball, and the Mariners, a team that is just as bad.

If these are the worst teams in baseball then the Sox should of had no problem winning last night. And AAA pitching should be no match either.

Well, in the interest of full disclosure, the Indians do in fact have a lower team BA than either the As or Ms.

I suppose the Yankees didn't actually lose 3 0f 4 to the Devil Rays two weeks ago. That must have been my imagination.

The Red Sox are 5-5 against the Yankees and Os.

The Yankees are 4-8 against the Sox and Os.

Thank You Mr. Whathaveyadoneformelately. We still love Bernie, weather he is an overpaid dinasaur or not.

10 games.

I hope the "weather" is good in the midwest. Maybe you should be more concerned with 2 games. That's the number of games above .500 you are.

The O's are 12 games above .500, the sox are a measly 7.

You've proven over the past couple games that you can beat up on the same ****** teams over and over again (teams which are both 9 games below .500). This doesn't get into the challenges that the sox are having with the A's, what can I say, the offense just isn't showing up. I wouldn't take this as a sign to show you winning the season (still ~130 games to go!!).

That's Officer Mr. Whathaveyoudoneformelatey. And it's "dinosaur," d-i-n-O -s-a-u-r. I still love Dwight Evans, but that doesn't mean I want him in the outfield.

Only a half game out of 3rd, I don't care what you say its not easy to win 10 in a row playing the best or the worst teams. Yankees have 21 wins Red Sox have 23 not that far off if you ask me.

Do we really need a day-by-day commentary on the Yankees and Sox here? It's not like there have been major events in the rivalry since, oh, October.

Why, is the internet running out of space?

Bernie has 11 Grand Slams? Manny has 18.

You're right. This is why everyone else hates us. I'll try to keep the Yankee bashing to a minimum, but it's just too easy.

I was an idiot and started Dontrelle Willis last night in my fantasy league, knowing full well that he's roughly 1-114 against the Dodgers in his career. How are you enjoying the DLowe Experience?

No. But since Yankee fans and Red Sox fans vie for the "Most Immature Fans" in the nation, it's really annoying to have to wade through that to see discussion about the rest of baseball. Perhaps it could have a dedicated Yankees/Red Sox thread?

Well, on the one hand, D-Train was on a roll and the Dodger bats have been kind of mediocre lately. On the other hand, Willis had an ERA over 15.00 in his only two starts against LA. On the third hand of this mutant, neither of those starts was at Dodger Stadium. My bet would have been that the longer his win streak went on, the more likely the next start would end it.

Lowe's been pretty good so far. I think the biggest potential problem there is infield defense on the corners. We're now lacking an experienced third baseman and Choi has less mobility than an inflatable doll in a breeze. So the possibility is there for the kinds of big-run rallies against him like when the Bosox defense melted down.

I don't think the problem is too much Yankeess/Red Sox, but that nobody else is really contributing much about other teams. We could start another thread solely about the Yanks Sox but then that too would get infected by haters coming in and nothing would get solved anyways.

So what are the chances of Ken Griffey Jr being traded to a contender. Can he still be productive with a winning team as the Reds have been nothing more then a disappointment this season.

I don't see it happening unless other teams have some kind of insurance that he won't get hurt again. He's relatively productive these days when healthy. But he's hurt so often and is getting to an age when even healthy players tend to really drop off. He seems to still enjoy playing and he's from Cincy, so it seems like there's a good chance he'll stay there for at least another couple years.

Then again, it seemed like he'd be staying in Seattle forever too.

I always feel kind of cheated by Ken Griffey Jr. Five years ago, we were cheering for him as an obvious first-ballot HOFer on the All-Century Team. He was going to break Aaron's record and become the Greatest of All Time.

And then went to Cincinatti (???) and proceeded to have every major leg injury known to man.

Perhaps the biggest shame of it all is that he's conspicuously absent at the time when baseball needs him most. In the aftermath of BALCO and Bonds*, 2005 could use a healthy Junior, hitting 500ft HR and weighing 180lbs.

Ok I'm fairly certain that David Wells is still being paid by the Yankees, How do the Sox not beat up on Oakland. Wells is really showing his age now, Schilling better return healthy cause I don't think that Wells will be that great.

So the AL east is getting interesting, Baltimore is starting to run with the division, Arod is leading the majors in Home Runs and RBI's. Toronto is keeping pace with the Yankees and the Red Sox are starting to slip a bit.

I know its a long season, and the last laughs come in Oct, but dam that felt good to see Boston thrown out at homeplate twice in one inning.

Did that feel good? Did it feel as good as say, the Yankees getting beat 17 to 1 today? What a game. The Sox had 27 hits.
