go seahawks?

the colts have only three games, yeah only three, left to have a perfect regular season, but that is three very hard games to win and the perfect miami dolphins of 1972 may be an anomaly

to have a perfect season in the nfl will be akin to breaking barry bonds 73 home runs in a season or wilt chamberlin's 100 point basketball game

colts have the division and home field advantage throughout the playoffs...smart money says use backups the rest of the regular season to protect the first string and go for the superbowl instead of the perfect regular season

of course, having both a perfect regular season and a superbowl would be ideal...something tells me that both won't happen

They will not rest the starters in week 15-16 for the simple reason they will get a week off with the first round bye. Dungy is the type of coach that feels if you get too rested you are not on your game. Peyton and the boys will be playing each and every game. They may pull them late in the third or early fourth quarter if they are way ahead but you can bet money they will start.

Makes sense. Then we will probably see a truly good game between the Colts and Seahawks - excellent.

BITE YOUR TOUNGE.:p :p I can stomach a loss to the Chargers, I almost expect a loss to the Seahawks, but Arizona?? That would just be wrong on every level

Heh heh - I was hoping to get a rise out of someone with that one... ;) Yeah, I concur, a loss to the Chargers would be surprising, but not earth-shattering, a loss to the Seahawks would be understandable, but a loss to the Cardinals would be just plain wrong! :D

So would it be OK if I just posted a commentary on the game without the picture? How bout if I just post "Hi, Mom"? Is it really wrong to show a little pride in your team? I think not.

But Terry Glenn doesn't

i assume he is a longtime player, owner, or coach who is ringless at the time ;)

i wish dan marino got a ring in his day and was glad to see john elway finally tame the beast (the superbowl) which had been his downfall three previous times

i think dennis green, coach/asst coach/front office manager, has the most with six rings from his previous teams winning the superbowl...charles haley, former niner and cowboy, has five rings and i am sure shanahan (coach) has a lot of rings

Im so glad the next team we get to play is the Saints. Talk about easy

easy would be my san francisco 49ers

but give alex smith a couple of years and he will mature into a strong quarterback

the transition from college quarterback to pro is rushed and many good prospects get passed over if they don't do well quickly...i remember marinovich the qb of the raiders who was let go too early and john paye of the niners back in the day of montana and young

but it's almost always a quarterback, running back, or any other position hidden somewhere in the middle of the pack who ends up becoming his generation's superstar in his position

The trouble with high-draft QBs is that they are drafted by losing teams which don't have the support personnel to help them out. I doubt Roethlisberger would have had as great a year without Hines Ward, a good O line or the Bus last year to help him out. Kyle Orton isn't a great QB but the Bears defense keeps it in games and he does just enough to move the chains. Alex Smith has very little offense around him to help him and an O-line that keep shifting. Having said that, I'm somewhat nervous about his dropping the ball without a defender in the backfield on several occasions recently; and the fact that he still hasn't thrown a TD pass at this point in the season; and yes, I know he hasn't played every game!

Then again, just to confound that argument; you have guys like Joey Harrington where they've tried changing receivers, O-line, coaches and runningbacks and he still sucks...

Now that kid had a 'tude problem. I still remember him in the locker room with his equipment manager and blowing up on him for something.

Not enough vodka in his gatorade, from what I hear.. :)

great points

i wonder when the niners will get out of their black hole...i was so used to having the niners do well from 1981-2000, longest mostly winning run except for cowboys, up until steve young got hurt and jeff garcia took over and then the niners got mediocre

now they are downright terrible and maybe a good draft pick next year could be a strong offensive lineman or two

I'm a Niners fan too (tho got slightly disillusioned when they sacked Mooch and brought in Erickson). I'm afraid I jumped on the bandwagon in about 1985 when I first started watching the NFL on British TV. It's funny; most UK fans probably still support the teams who were big back then. There's a disproportionate number of Niners, Dolphins, Redskins, Cowboys, Bears and Steelers fans.

I'm just hoping that it doesn't take as long as it did for the Bengals... although with what was looking like a similar Brown attititude by York, it was looking likely. The biggest thing the Niners have at the moment, which they can't afford to lose, is that they're still expected to be good. The negativity in Detroit, Cincinnatti (until recently) and even New Orleans (pre-hurricane) really can't help their teams!

Unfortunately, they've still got some of Donahue's mismanagement to pay for. Barlow's stupid contract for one; they need a bruising back and I don't think Frank Gore (good change of pace that he is) is it, nor is Mo Hicks (although he's a great guy; we used to have a drink or two with him when he played in Scotland). Can they pass on Bush if he's there when they pick? If they don't take him, then they avoid having a massive proportion of the cap taken up with just two players and with the interest he's creating, there would be a lot of 'trade up' talk; unlike last year.

What were the niners' final reason for picking Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers. If I were Aaron Rodgers I would be pissed that I got picked below a QB from the WAC. But also, I think that Rodgers should be grateful because I don't know anyone who would trade for the 49ers line. Except maybe David Carr. It never seemed to me that Smith was as good a passer as Rodgers was. I always thought he was just overhyped because of his rushing ability.

As far as I remember, the reasons were that Smith interviewed better, appeared to have better football smarts and seemed to have stronger arm-strength etc. I suspect that the Telford QBs NFL records probably counted against Rodgers too. Until Rodgers actually starts playing, it's going to be tough to say who got the better end of the deal. I wanted them to take Rodgers; I felt a guy playing for the team he'd always supported would always have that little bit extra heart if everything else was equal.

I think they'd decided long before to take Smith but didn't say anything in the hope that someone would think the top of the draft was tight and trade up. Unfortunately, that led to Rodgers sitting in NY for a long time; I had a lot of respect for the way he handled the cameras on him for those hours.
