I suspect the graphic they put up with 'Never missed at home in the playoffs' probably jinxed him... The reactions of all the different players was so well done by CBS; and I'm amazed none of them forgot themselves and swore.

So glad that Bettis doesn't go out with a fumble as his last pro play (assuming he retires after this game). Great game to watch as a neutral though I'd imagine that Steelers and Colts fans were having massive highs and lows during that one!

Vinatieri missing last night and Vanderjagt tonight - not a good weekend for two of the most reliable guys in the NFL.

Think justice was done; that interception should have stood which would have stopped that TD.

Battle of the dodgy beards next week!

What's with all the Bronco's hating on these forums???!??

I flew out to Denver to watch the game live. It was awesome. The place was rocking. I still haven't gotten my voice back. The 12th man is very strong in Denver!! Now, I'm debating whether to fly back out here for the game with Pittsburgh. Should be a good game.

Gotta give credit to Peyton for that choke job there, but as they say, football is a team sport so Vanderjagt had to pitch in too.

For me: I cannot stand Mike Shanahan(anananana).

It's official, Peyton Manning will never make it to the Big Game.

Don't think they value character in their players; and that goes way back. Romanowski, Shannon Sharpe, even down to taking a gamble on Clarett. Don't like the cut blocks that they teach their O-line. And don't like Plummer's scruffy beard... ;)

If it's any comfort, I hate the Raiders more :p

OT I'm really going to have to brush up my 'when you have possession' rules understanding. I was convinced that both the Polamalu interception and the Gage fumble should both have stood as called on the field.

Yeah, well, he's just one of the best NFL coaches right now. And he just beat who was maybe considered one of the best in Belicheck.

Yeah, they do pick up the character issue guys, but you never really hear from them too much while they're in Denver. Shannon talked a lot, but he didn't really distract the team with character issues. Plus, this is football. These guys performed on the field and again, while in Denver, they weren't too much of a distraction. If they did become a distraction, Shanahan usually got rid of them. The Broncos even took themselves out of the TO running. They don't want anyone to get in the way of their goal, to reach the Super Bowl.

And as for their blocking, it's not illegal. They're playing according to the rules of the game. No one wants to get someone else injured. But the block is effective and it fits their game.

I like Plummer's beard :D

You think this is bad?

Try coming to Cleveland.

never said it was bad. i'm sure cleveland, oakland, kc, etc are bad, but these forums shouldn't have any kind of regional bias.

We're more likely to have more biases. If you think about it, instead of a single region all hating one team, we're lots of different regions all hating lots of different teams and, naturally, supporting others. But I think it's generally pretty good-spirited around here and no-one takes it too seriously.

yeah, it's always fun to be talking football.

Another cracking game; definitely the best Sunday night of football for a while!

Think the two better teams (on the night) went through and should make next week a good one too (Note to self: book next Monday off work since the first game doesn't start til 8pm UK time!)

Well, looks like my predictions came true, the Colts lost and so did the Bears. Excellent games today, looking forward to next week's match-ups!

I'm still coming down from the high of the Panthers victory over the Bears. AWESOME game. :)

Sadly, DeShaun Foster's ankle appears to be broken, so he's out for the season. Looks like it's time for Nick Goings to step up again for us next week when we go to Seattle.

are we forgetting the Bears here? seriously...the Bears!

Bless

a win for the bears or loss for them was something i believed was a 50-50 chance so it was no real shocker

the colts simply woke up too late and it's such a shame for such a talented team to not even make the afc championship game

my guess is for seattle to win easily, and denver and the steelers to fight out a very close one

...seattle seems to be the team to beat, but they don't look as bulletproof as indy has all season so it could be anybody's game come superbowl sunday...but i now have to predict the seahawks by 14 points over either afc challenger now that my earlier pick, the colts, are out of the playoffs

but if it comes down to carolina and one of the afc teams, i give the afc team a three point edge on superbowl sunday but i would like to see carolina win their first

Carolina did indeed play solid today - they were able to do what pretty much no other team could do to the Bears D all year - impressive.

I couldn't agree anymore. It turned out that the first team to score would win, I was just hoping the Bears would be the first ones to score. I knew I should have gone looking for Steve Smith last night and tried to break his ankle.;) Even though it didn't turn out the way I hoped it was an outstanding game to be at, one of the best I've been at in the past 5 years or so. I hate to blame it on one player because I really don't think it's possible to do that but the best move Carolina ever made was by releasing Moose and letting him come to the Bears. I'm not saying they would have won if they would have gotten Plaxico or traded for Santana Moss but he sure didn't help any.

I'm still way jacked up about the Steelers' big win today. I'm scanning the web, and while people mention the call, no one is outraged over that interception by Polamalu that was overturned. Was anyone else utterly baffled by this call? I'm not being biased just because it's my team that it hurt when I say that it had to be the worst overturned instant reply call I have ever seen. Anyone agree/disagree?

I agree. Either the ref totally twisted the rules around to give the ball back to Indy, or they just decided to screw the Steelers... just like they did in Carolina's loss to the Cowboys on Christmas Eve.

I agree as well...terrible call.

Of course, I'm more heartsick about the Bears losing

The bears defense was missing in action plain and simple ... the panthers figured out how to run plays so they'd match up against peanut ... bad move. They kept our probowl cornerback to nothing. (no vasher).

I was pissed off about that pic in the steelers game ... I agree bad call. I was glad to see big ben take down the guy after that fumble, finally a qb ready to take some action.
