Deion Branch has been sent to the Seahawks in exchange for a 1st round pick in the 2007 draft.

And yes, I waited until after I picked him up before posting this...:D

almost doesn't seem fair

Thoughts on the streaming NFL are that it's absolutely brilliant and is well worth £8.50 a week. Yes, it's a bit of a pain that I can't resize it, but then, hey, I wouldn't be able to have a browser window open to post here, check other games to see if they're worth switching over to and so on. The picture has been been really clear and the stream hasn't needed constant buffering.

The funniest thing is getting the US adverts though! Big trucks, big food, bad beer... but can I say that the 'Scotland' flag football advert is awful. The closest those actors have been to Scotland is a bottle of whisky. :D
The image is really sweet, Appls. I wondered about buffering, but the stream hasn't need it, so that's another plus. At first, the times and dates of games listed looked wrong, 'til I remembered the GMT. :) But you'll get the double header (Vikings vs. Redskins/Chargers vs. Raiders) just the same? Hope you get some rest Tuesday-Friday, anyway. Sleep deprivation. It's the small price to pay for being a true fan. :D

my fantasy teams are absolutely horrible. wow

i am pumped for the redskins tonight. i am ready to go home now (that may or may not be related to the upcoming game though...)

You hung in there, but in the end, The Billiethecats were victorious...

Fantasy Football is a whole new game with that stat tracker thing, I love it.

First one is on TV anyhow... second one isn't. Won't sit up and watch tonight but will prob try to catch some of it on the archive tomorrow

yeah, but i don't have the cash to upgrade the league to a plus league. i suppose there is a way for individual members to get it, but it really is cruel how yahoo does this to you (i remember when there were no plus leagues - it was all free)

how bout those Falcons!!!

Vick looking like his old self (2004 season). and absolutely nobody picked the falcons to beat the panthers, and the falcons totally dominated the game:cool:

'Skins had a number of chances to seal that game but they either couldn't put the ball in the end zone or made stupid mistakes on D.

Falcons looked pretty good, though I think it would've been a different game is Steve Smith had played.

I'm MIA most of the weekend missing a large majority of college and NFL games though I come back just in time to see the Chargers defense and LT manhandle the Raiders. Life is good.

It's only $10 for the season? It's immensely useful if you have multiple leagues since it's easy to flip between them in the stat tracker

Yeah - the individual option isn't too bad, but isn't that $10 for each of my teams (I could be wrong)? $30 feels more than 3x as heavy. And don't get me started on the $124.99 to upgrade the entire league to a plus league.

I guess I'm like the folks who complain about .mac - I used to get it for free, why do I have have to pay now.

I don't think so.

I think (or I thought!) that it was $10 per user ID so you could see multiple teams on a single stat tracker.

My only problem with it is that running the streamed games, a browser and the stat tracker keeps my CPU at pretty much full whack for 6 hours!

Always happy to see the 'Skins go down. The Chargers had an easy opener vs. the Raiders - over the next few weeks we will all see if Rivers can make them win. LT is great, but if Rivers can't make the defenses respect him his numbers will go down.

well, they've got Omar Jacobs on the practice squad, so they can always turn to him in a real pinch. Plus they could (though it's highly unlikely) re-sign Tommy Maddox. Because Maddox is a vested veteran they'd owe him his entire base salary if he was on the roster opening day, but if they sign him after the first game they wouldn't.
I was out of the country for the whole end of preseason; what wound up happening at the QB and RB positions for the Steelers? Was Jacobs really that bad? Did that QB they brought from Europe fizzle too? And what on earth is going on at RB. I just watched the Steelers/Dolphins game on tape, they didn't use Staley at all and Haynes sparingly.

They could also re-sign Rod Rutherford, if he hasn't been signed elsewhere...

skins game was a letdown. they looked good in a lot of ways (especially when compared to preseason). but were a play or two here and there away from closing out drives. the defense was the scary part. 7 yard runs over and over. 15-25 yard passes over and over. rogers seems like he just sucks, and i don't even know who's on the other side. hah. crazy... the dallas game could be an early season make or break.

my fantasy teams are atrocious this year. injuries aren't helping

I hope Tennessee gives Rivers more of a challenge so we can use the early bye to maybe work out any kinks.

I guess the Steelers are only going to carry 2 QB's on the active roster this year, Roethlisberger and Batch. Ben's appendicitis forced them to re-sign Brian St. Pierre to the active roster as the no. 2 QB, which was probably the thing to do since he knows the offense reasonably well and can at least manage the game in a pinch. Omar Jacobs was cut but re-signed to the practice squad, a pretty smart move IMHO since he's got talent but has a long way to go before he'll be ready for any real game action.

Here's the weird thing: to make room for St. Pierre, the Steelers cut Chidi Iwuoma, one of their top special teams guys. Wonder if he'll find his way back to the team after St. Pierre's tenure is through i.e. whenever Ben returns to the lineup...

At RB, the Steelers just picked up 6'1" 247lb. Najeh Davenport from Green Bay, which forced them to release Patrick Cobbs, a rookie they picked up from New England for a conditional draft pick. Haynes is really more of a 3rd down back. He's essentially a backfield blocker when the Steelers go max-protection or use a 3 receiver set. I think he also backs up Kreider from time to time.

So what I guess might happen is this:
1) Roethlisberger returns, St. Pierre gets cut.
2) Davenport replaces Haynes as the no. 2 back, Staley gets cut.
3) Chidi Iwuoma is re-signed.

Interesting thought. I would guess even with what little value there is, the Steelers would want (and be able) to trade Staley for a draft pick (or even for cash), rather than eat Staley's cap contribution.

actually, I hadn't even thought that they might try to trade him. Good point.

I bet the Lions could use him. He's got experience catching the ball out of the backfield. I'm sure Martz could figure out something...

I must say i was very impressed with Alex Smith and the rest of the niners on Sunday. 27 points, that goes down as a win for me! For a few years there I thought they had to ask directions to the end zone since they didn't visit there very often.

The Raiders suck. :D

word to that
they should trade Jerry Porter for draft picks and spend the rest of this season/next offseason figuring out how to fix the offensive line. You gotta figure they're heading for a 4-12 year, at best...

they got some WR named young to replace him...

wow...that was fast. I wonder if this means they'll carry 3 QB's on the active roster...
