We had a good run

First loss since last December,

First shut out since whenever.....(says above somewhere)

we had a good run.

That being said, who was that out on the field last night? It wasn't the Steelers....

No running game, super sloppy arm tackling, Ben was not ready, Troy P should have sat out because his arm was hanging like a rag doll....just ugly.

J ville didn't exactly light it up, but sheesh....I don't think the Steelers even crossed the 50 yard line....

We got Cincy next week.....uggh we could be in for a long season.

HERE WE GO ?

Volek to the Chargers ... phillip rivers is still the man over there and well i'm surprised the Raiders didn't make a better jump ... they need a quarterback

hell Kyle Orton would be an improvement over Aaron Brooks and the Walters kid they had so far ...

the Raiders are in a world of hurt. Their offensive line is just terrible. I think I said somewhere that they were a 4-12 team at best. I'm beginning to wonder if they can win any game on their schedule. 0-16...ouch. That would ensure they receive the 1st pick, but I'm positive Al Davis could find a way to fµ*k it up..

I was a LAMS fan, by default more or less. But I'm not watching another game of theirs until they send lukewarm QB Bulger back to WV or somewhere else. With a 81.1 rating, 55.9% passing, can't scramble, fumbles and chokes when it counts, I do not know what St. Louis has seen in this guy. Quick deliveries are selling points for Fed-Ex. And their number two is from Haavad.

yea Bulger...I remember watching him in college. As a fellow alum I wish him all the best, but as a football fan I've got to admit he has a penchant (always has) for throwing the clutch interception. Doesn't have great arm strength, not built to withstand a lot of pounding, and tends to put the ball where his receivers are going to take a real shot from the DB if/when they make the catch.

though to be honest, I dunno if anybody else would do any better for them this year. Rams starting center is out for the season, and that's huge. I'd be looking for opposing teams to stunt/twist their linemen a lot and probably blitz up the middle a lot, just to confound the Rams blocking scheme and put some confusion/indecision in the heads of Bulger and whoever is playing center now...

Still can't get past the Eagles loss, a loss that should not have happened, that should not have been in OT and should not have seen the End of Javon Kearse's season...Make a play on O in the 4th quarter, catch the ball LJ, don't fumble Brian, Donovan QB sneak vs tossing it backwards 5 yards on 4th and short...F! the coaches call...Andy - learn how to manage the clock...

Ok, still don't feel better, but it is out...

The Tampa Bay Schmuccaneers are 0-2, looking to be 0-3 after this sunday. Way to go Gruden.
Well we've got some good replacement names for various teams so far this year:
"Schmuccaneers" (dsnort)
"Squeelers" and "Raiduhs" (yellow)
"LAMS" ....did I see "Cowgirls" somewhere? :p

You mean like the Green Bay Slackers, Detroit Liars, Cleveland Clowns...?

But don't bad-mouth my Chicago Bears!

:D

I think Gruden has something like 3 winning seasons during his entire tenure as a head coach. That ain't too good, IMHO...

wow what a bad stat

he has

| 1998 oak | 8 8 0 | 0 0 |
| 1999 oak | 8 8 0 | 0 0 |
| 2000 oak | 12 4 0 | 1 1 | - AFC Championship Game
| 2001 oak | 10 6 0 | 1 1 | - Tuck Rule Game is the loss right?
| 2002 tam | 12 4 0 | 3 0 | - Superbowl Champ
| 2003 tam | 7 9 0 | 0 0 |
| 2004 tam | 5 11 0 | 0 0 |
| 2005 tam | 11 5 0 | 0 1 |
| 2006 tam | 0 2 0 | 0 0 |

there are plenty of "winning" coaches without a ring and playoff wins ... he has those things. I'd say he's a good coach and plenty of teams could use him.

wow thats insane. i never realized that before.

i dont think gruden is a good coach. i would compare him to larry coker of the miami hurricanes. why you ask?

larry coker's first year with Miami, he comes in and wins a National Championship. from then on he has run the program into the ground gradually. well Coker's first year, none of the players on the team were 'his.' they were all recruited by the coach (butch davis) from years before.

same thing as Gruden. he comes in his first year and won the super bowl with Tony Dungy's players. ever since Gruden has had responsibility, Tampa hasnt even sniffed another season like his first.

coincidence? i dont think so.

I don't think so either. I guess it's actually 4 winning seasons as opposed to three, which still isn't too impressive.

8 NFL seasons under his belt
4 playoff births
2 AFC Championship games
1 Superbowl ring

Not too shabby, IMO. Yeah, he inherited a great team in TB, but he also built the Raiders up from crap into a SB caliber team. Gruden may have coached TB in Superbowl 37, but he played against the Raiders team that he built while coaching in Oakland.

He did win the SB with the team Dungy built, (Tony Dungy is a way class act IMO), But I'm not sure Dungy could have won it. For all I respect Dungy, he had a blind spot when it came to the offense, especially as relates to play calling. Run two, throw one, and punt.

And while Gruden was 11-5 last year, the team really wasn't as good as their record. They eked out some lucky wins.

But it's alright. After 28 years of futility one thing Yuccaneer fans can do is be patient.

EDIT: And there's another good alternate name!

The whole with his players argument? thats sort of lame he beat his own team (Oakland Raiders- which were his players and his team) in the superbowl! so he coached on team to win the superbowl and arranged the other superbowl team.

As for the fact that they haven't sniffed, they did go to the playoffs last year, thats sniffing to me.

you guys hold up impossible standards ... the only good coaches you must consider are belliceck and parcells and gibbs ... besides that the

Actually, I think Parcells is highly overrated. (Ducks under table to avoid flying flame mail)

this is more or less what I think. I give Gruden props for having won it, but really all he did is what Dungy should've done years earlier i.e. open up the offense and throw the ball a bit more. And in Dungy's defense, he never really had a QB in Tampa capable of doing that. I know, Trent Dilfer won it with Baltimore, and I have enormous respect for the guy, but the Ravens defense and special teams won that championship.

Gruden is a good coach. One of the league's best? Eh...I don't think so.

My list of the league's best, in no particular order:
Bill Parcells
Bill Belichick
Bill Cowher
Jeff Fisher
Mike Shanahan
Joe Gibbs
Marvin Lewis

Honorable mention: John Fox

and I think Nick Saban and Jack Del Rio will be on the list pretty soon...

So what's Dungy's excuse in Indy? ;)

I'd have to place the blame on Tom Moore (offensive coordinator) and Peyton Manning. I just think they've been outcoached by Belichick and Cowher. Of course, I have no real way of knowing that...just an opinion.

As an old Florida Gator, I have to add, that Peyton Manning has never been able to win the big one.

He's a great QB, but this just seems to follow him like a cloud.
