That's due to their defense...their offense has been horrible. They need to be clicking on both sides in order to be successful. They got the benefit of opening the season against three horrible teams, but they're struggling now that they're facing quality teams.
It's funny... there are two teams that supposedly have these invincible defenses... the Bears and the Ravens. Guess which one team has manhandled both of these defenses in the same year on the road?

That's right, the Panthers. :)

It ain't enough to have a great defense. Sure, it helps, but you ALSO have to have a better-than-average offense. The Panthers have BOTH.

Looks like someone's receiving blame for the loss last night.

daniel

that not shocking arizona had some horriable play calls last night. 3-4 times they had great field position or were in the red zone and just did "conservative" plays like giving the ball to Edge who had like 32 carries for 56 yards.......... and not throwing one into the endzone. Like tony, and joe said they didn't go for the kill

Back when football was;

*A Grim Game, Played by Grim Men On Frozen Fields and NFL Franchises were so worthless they even gave one to ->Green Bay*

Was a man called 'Ernie Steel'

Back then when the Offense gave up the Football 'They'' remained on the field to play Defense (what was the Q.B.s job on defense-Middle Linebacker?)

Interestly enough this man ending up with more interceptions (24) than touchdowns (19) and he also played for the 'Steel Eagles (Steagles) in 1943.

Here's his obit from the Seattle P.I. Please take time to read it. Especially if you don't know who the 'Steagles' were -quigleybc- ;)

Interesting...

Thanks for the info.

Where can I get me a throwback "Steagles" jersey !

Start here?????

->On the 60th anniversary of the Steagles, he was one of six surviving members brought back to Philadelphia and saluted during an Eagles game. He is one of the main subjects of a book published about that unusual team. In recent weeks, he even received a letter of concern over his failing health and a Steelers T-shirt from ***Steelers owner Dan Rooney, whose family owned the Steagles***<-

When in doubt start at the top-ask the boss

Whoops! Just realizied that what I posted may have been taken the 'wrong way' so I erased the last part. Sorry!

Is the Chargers defense determined to destroy themselves this season?
Steve Foley was shot and out for the season, Terrence Kiel faces five felony counts for shipping controlled substances, Igor Olshansky is out for a month do to surgery, and now Shawne Merriman reported test positive for steriods and is suspended for four games.

ugh!

I was extremely delighted to hear the news about merriman, seeing how his last game served on the suspension is against the broncos. what will be interesting is how he performs without his special juice.

That Steeler game was pure madness...

I don't even know what to think about this F'd up team/season....after a shutout, a blowout, and now a WTF game....this season is just goofy....

If you play Fantasy Fball at all, those implications are felt even more:
E.g. Pitt D getting negative #'s. Or Leon Washington (waiver material) getting 100+ and 2TDs?

Or Lundy coming out of nowhere getting almost 100yds + 1TD? Any given sunday :)

*oh almost forgot. Crumpler, TE, getting 3TDs. Lol.

Steelers put the ball on the ground 4 times, with Holmes responsible for 2 of them. That's not going to work.

finally, a chance to quote myself :p

Atlanta rings up 21 points on 3 Steeler turnovers. Holmes, of course, fumbles a punt return, handing the Falcons the ball at the 20 and giving them an easy score.

::sigh::

Watch out for the Dolphins. Sleeper team of the AFC. Definately not an elite team, but good enough to cause some problems for Pittsburgh and New England (and certainly anyone in the NFC).

I made the second post in this thread... I would like to now formally retract this post and request that you respectfully abstain from making any references to the Miami Dolphins and expected results for this season. Thank you, and good day.

<walks away with head hung low>

Well, at least I've still got the Broncos.

But on a positive note, my Mac Rumors Fantasy Team handed the previously undefeated Iggles their first loss of the year.

I give up on fantasy teams... after the second consecutive week in which I lost thanks to a defense putting up a 20 point score

Whoever, I'm playing next week - pick up the Patriots defense - guaranteed 20 points! :p

And again My Steelers suck, but my fantasy team is rockin. They put up 109.8 points ! The Manning/Wayne combo pays out almost every week.

As for the Steelers, sad...just sad..

yup :(

looks like 6-10 is the best we can hope for. Oh well. Least we'll get a decent draft pick out of it. Really need help on the offensive line. Faneca is still one of the best, and Starks is really solid. Hartings, though, is probably on his last legs. And we could really use a decent big back...maybe that trade for TJ Duckett will go through...

look at the bright side, though. They're probably out of playoff contention, but they'll be playing better by the end of the season. Next year they might very well dominate.

What the hell has happened to the Sea Chickens :( This week sucked. Im still in shock that Oakland actually won, let alone won against the super bowl champs (hah where are their officials to help when they needed it like when the officials helped them win the super bowl??).

Of course to top it off There was the pass interference that was a "fumble" in the Carolina game, along with the last min TD that should have been held back since when his knee hit the ball never passed the plane.

Maybe next week... but we all remember

Gah. Just got home from the Panthers/Cowboys game.

The Panthers may not suck, but they are playing like sh*t. It's like there's two teams... the first team comes out and scores 14 points, then the second team replaces them and proceeds to flop around like a flounder on a pier.

The Panthers don't deserve to make the playoffs this year... and part of me hopes that they won't, just to teach them a lesson about the fact that a game lasts 60 minutes, not 15 or 30.
