I'm certainly not looking past the 'Canes...they're a very solid team that will give the Sabres a run yet. Look how they bounced back against Montreal...they're not going to roll over.

There have been articles in the Buffalo paper over the last few weeks about how badly the city needs the Cup. After all of the near misses for the Bills (including the infamous "Wide Right" field goal), Brett Hull's "No Goal" against the Sabres in the '99 finals, etc.

It's time to conquer the demons...

I don't think the canes will simply die off either. But I think the Sabers have won a lot of confidence and it shows in their passing and their plays that they have found a new spirit through this season. Taking out the Senators was their first giant step to conquering all odds.

But again, I hope they win it. It would be a nice change.

Ugh...'Canes up 3-1, outshooting the Sabres 28-10, and winning 66% of the faceoffs through two periods. Miller's playing well, but his guys aren't helping him out at either end...

I have three players on Carolina and only 1 point so far :(. I've been getting more points in the Edmonton series from Hemsky than this series with three players.

It's so weird for me right now watching the coach of the Kings being interviewed. I'll miss seeing him behind the bench.

Buffalo certainly didn't deserve the game tonight, and that's hard to say coming from me. It's never right to think after something has already happened, but if Miller had caught that wrister from Williams we would be going into overtime right now. Oh well, it's on to Buffalo. We know Lindy Ruff will be on their asses to get the offense working this next game and keep the penalties down!

LET'S GO BUFFALO!

At least the Sabres had a nice third period effort...hopefully that'll give them some momentum heading into Game 3.

Buffalo is going down faster than an elevator with a snapped cable.

Fortunately, elevators have emergency brakes...and they're located in HSBC Arena!

GO SABRES!!!

What a frenzy there at the end. The 'Canes just weren't able to get enough shots through...whew.

Wow, Miller really saved your asses there at the end.

And what are you guys gonna do now with such few defencemen.

And is Gerber gonna start next game?

Those are the three thoughts that came to mind when I saw this thread.

Miller's been saving ours game after game...at least we got some shots of our own today. And just think, the US Olympic Team didn't want Miller...they're looking more and more silly with every passing game.

The defense will be okay. The whole team is just so darn scrappy; they'll do whatever needs to be done.

We'll have to see about Gerber...my money would be on Ward starting, but Gerber did look good in facing limited shots.

being from ottawa and not much of a sens fan, i'm sticking with the oilers til the end. they're making a joke of the ducks this week, so i'm hoping they're confidence takes them all the way. the ducks had 3294032480 stupid penalties last night, and i loved watching the oilers dance around the points and pick away at the mere 3 defencemen.

plus i've gotta rep capitan Jay Smith, its in the blood.

Linkety

Ugh...Tallinder out for the playoffs with a broken arm. Kalinin is likely out for the duration with his broken ankle suffered in the Ottawa series, so there's definitely no way he's playing in this series.

Numminen's gonna have to play with his bad groin...

It would be nice if Connolly could come back soon as Ruff had suggested...that would certainly give the Sabres a lift and ease the transition if Pominville has to be moved to D. But concussions aren't things to be taken lightly, and Connolly has a history of them.

carolina vs. oilers for the cup. i can feel it. edomton's down by 2 atm, but its been one hell of a period.

I really don't see Tallinder and Kalinin as being such a hit to Buffalo as everyone expects. You have to remember that Buffalo is more of a team effort than any other team in the league, and they've done a wonderful job filling holes throughout this season. Adam Mair is also an option since he's ready to play. Don't just expect Pominville to run back on defense. Hopefully we'll get to see Conolly tomorrow night though. That would be a break.

I just noticed that they're selling playoff games on the iTMS now. They're 1.99 US a game. If I miss a game I would buy the game if it weren't a copy of the US broadcast :( .

Unfortunately, they're just 15-20 minute recaps.

And yes, I do miss CBC broadcasts...

Yea I know, I think they're the perfect thing to buy if you miss the game. You don't want to have to watch the whole thing, but you also don't want just one and a half minutes of highlights.

And yes, a hockey game isn't a hockey game without Jim Hughson, Kelly Hrudey, Scott Oake, and Ron MacLean.

I assume Don Cherry is still doing Coach's Corner, right? He's always good for a laugh...

Yep  :) :(    :p :D

I couldn't really decide how I feel about that :p

Well the Oilers are going to the finals!!!

It seems every team for the last three years that's beat Detroit has gone to finals.

And I've noticed as the playoffs progress this thread dies down. I guess there aren't actually that many hockey fans on MR, just team fans.

Good game today...but the Ducks could only postpone the inevitable for so long...

The Oilers have certainly put together an unbelievable run and are oozing confidence right now. Regardless of who comes out of the East, it will be a great battle for the Cup...fun to watch.

Definitely worried about the Sabres...terrible performance yesterday to give home-ice back to the 'Canes. Need to find a way to bounce back and take that pivotal Game 5.

Go Oil..

killuminati, you forgot Harry Neale, Bob Cole, Dick Irvin, Greg Millen and Elliotte Friedman. My dad gets cranky when watching a game Jim Hughson is doing the commentary. "It sounds too much like the video game" he says, referring to my EA Sports NHL games.

The coverage on american TV is absolute garbage. Even the NHL network that gets broadcasted over TSN occasionally is horrid. I love my CBC, the next winter olympics on CTV could be rough.

Yea, Neale and Cole are also great. I'm kind of missing Cuthbert though :(

And yea 2010 might be rough. I'm hoping that CTV will hire people from CBC for their broadcasters.
