Conspiracy theory? Please  Let's get real here. While some may think it's some kind of "mission" by the NFL to ensure the Pats win out, missed calls are nothing new. They've been going on for years. It is hardly unique to Patriot fans to say the Colts get more calls than anyone. It was widely discussed on ESPN radio and WFAN in NY the day after the SD game. The Indy/Pitt playoff game was such an embarassment that the league had to publicly apologize for it the next day.
The reason everyone thinks the Colts get calls is also not a new one. Bill Polian now sits where Don Shula once did on the competition committee. Shula's teams curiously were always one of the least penalized.
The bigger question to people should be how come the Chargers ended up with only 4 field goals when they made it inside the ten yard line 3 times.

I just searched http://www.nfl.com/rulebook and I couldn't find anything about leg whips.

It's there:

10 Yards

1. Offensive pass interference.
2. Holding, illegal use of hands, arms, or body by offense.
3. Tripping by a member of either team.
4. Helping the runner.
5. Deliberately batting or punching a loose ball.
6. Deliberately kicking a loose ball.
7. Illegal block above the waist.

The game was not won or lost because of a missed call on a 'leg whip'. That team couldn't put it in the endzone against the Pats.

It is hard to get it into the endzone when a play is called a turnover. Kinda makes it hard don't you think.;)

How does that explain the three times that the Chargers had first and goal from inside the ten yard line, couldn't punch it in on any occasion and had to settle for field goals? Or do you have an excuse for that too?

No excuses for that, but they had a chance at a play and the wrong call maybe cost them a TD. I believe the Pats scored on that drive as well.

The Jaguars played a better game against New England in the playoffs. New England's defense played poorly against the Jags, but stepped it up against the Chargers. Game over.

How about another factor on the interception? The fact that Chambers got schooled by Samuel. Even with the slight underthrow,Chambers had the position and just got outworked. No excuse at all for that esp given the size mismatch (Chambers on Samuel).....

Doesn't matter, If it is called it is 15 yards and a first down.

Of course it doesn't matter  You can spin it however you want to see it..Even taking that TD away, guess what?Pats still by win by 2 points..Bottom line..Chargers had numerous chances to put up TD's and COULDN"T..You're not going to beat the Pats with FG's...

Explain the personal foul rule to me then.

Kindly point out where I said it wasn't a penalty? In post #2451,I said calls are missed all the time..Get over it..Here's a newsflash for you..Even with the blown call, the Chargers had numerous chances to put the game away and couldn't..Even on the drive off the interception, the Charger's D couldn't stop the Pats..Bottom line..That game wasn't won or lost on a missed call by the officials..No matter how you want to spin it..

Unless it happens on the very last play of the game (like the controversial hail mary call in the Colts/Steelers AFC championship game years ago) you can't pick out one play and say if that did/didn't happen team X would've won/lost because every play from that point on would be different. But you can go back to plays and say that's where the momentum changed. And that play changed the momentum of the game. When those types of things happen because of an officiating mistake of course there will be finger pointing because it's unfortunate when the refs influence the game in that manor.

That play happened midway through the second quarter..You've got over a half of football left to play..Had it happened sometime in the fourth quarter, you can say it changed momentum..It's a 14-9 game at halftime. No way in hell does that game somehow shift on that play, that early on..If it does for the Chargers, they don't belong there in the first place.Numerous opps to get in the endzone and couldn't..Chargers get one FG in the entire second half...

I thought personal fouls were 15.

:p

psst, it's 10 yards
As I understand it leg whipping typically falls under "kicking an opposing player" which is a 15 yarder and could merit ejection if the ref thinks it was flagrant.

So in your opinion a team's momentum can only change in the 4rth quarter? Seriously? Momentum can go back and fourth at any time during a game depending on what's happening on the field. Hell, in the Giants/Cowboys game the Giants came out strong in the first quarter, then the Cowboys scored 14 unanswered points in the 2nd to get on a roll, but the Giants scoring drive gave them the momentum going into half-time. Just because there is a game changing event doesn't mean there can't be another game changing event later.
