You know, there's a good chance that the Premier League trophy itself might be at the KC on the last day of the season, to be presented to the newly crowned champions as their campaign comes to a close.

It'll look great with black and amber ribbons on. :D

Football League fixtures out :)

We have Brighton away on the last day of the season. A day at the seaside at the beginning of May.

No friendlies announced yet. Liverpool supposedly owe us one, not sure about the rest though.

As there are a few posters on here new to the EPL – anyone thinking of making plans around the Premiership fixture list should bear in mind July 3rd* is the cut-off point for preliminary alterations to the fixture list, for TV and other reasons – for games up to the end of November. Only about a third of fixtures will be played at the 3.00pm saturday slot.

If you are playing a team involved in the UEFA cup forget about it being a saturday kick off.

Be warned folks!!

* for TV scheduling and other reasons, they can and will make further changes at your inconvenience after this date!

October seems to be the tricky month for Birmingham, we play QPR at the beginning and end of the month. Oh, QPR are favourites to get promoted.

Still would like to see us get 30 points by the end of October (14 games)

What the hell is going on in the premiership, last game is May 24th. Does that mean the FA Cup final will not be until May 30th???

That's right about the fixture list, B&Wtoon – we've officially been told that there's an initial 10-day period of grace for Sky to bugger around with it, but of course dates and times are changed throughout the course of the season.

That's right... we were thinking that they're maybe allowing room for England's World Cup qualifiers during the course of the season, and were trying to avoid fixture congestion?

and Sentanta of course! They’re supposed to give fans 30 days notice of any schedule changes for TV but as some fans found out last season Sky made changes with only 14 days notice so any fans travel costs, time off work, etc – tough titties! Fans eh, who needs them.

All Premiership matches should be Saturday, 3pm. I wonder if there's a Facebook group for this...
I foresee a lot of Sunday lunchtime games in our future. Previously, it's just been Saturday at three as you say, or Tuesday nights at 7.45pm – plus once maybe twice a season at other times.

One of the totally new things for us to get used to will be the daft times we have to get ourselves down to the KC at. It's just as bizarre as us being in all the sticker albums.

Following on from my last post, another thing that we're having to get our collective heads around in these parts is the daft transfer speculation that's currently surrounding us. Now, for all you Manchester United and Arsenal fans being linked with every player under the sun might not be that unusual, but – given that previously we might only be linked with the odd Colchester United player or two – the sheer quantity of players we're apparently about to sign seems quite amazing. And, quite frankly, there's more chance of me clinching a lucrative three-year deal that the KC than some of this lot.

All of these players have been linked with the Tigers in the past couple of weeks – either in the papers, sports websites or those daft 'my mate saw...' rumours so beloved by radio phone ins. So, expect to see gurning next to Phil Brown and holding their new City shirts proudly aloft...

Mikel Alonso, Nicky Hunt, Ali Al Habsi, Jan Tauer, Bonaventure Kalou, Antti Niemi, Peter Halmosi, Jimmy Bullard, Peter Crouch, Colin Kazim-Richards, Harry Kewell, Anthony Gardner, Jurgen Samuel, Frazier Campbell, Marcus Bent, Kevin Philips, Shola Ameobi, Lee Naylor, David Healey, Christian Vieri, David Nugent, Neil Clement, Markleshark, Danny Shittu, Magnus Troest, Roger Johnson, Danny Simpson, Jon Walters, Geovanni, Steven Gerrard, Ivan Campo, James Beattie, Fran Mérida, Stelios Giannakopoulos, and Jason Koumas.

To name but a few.

I would imagine that Steven Gerrard and Markleshark would make quite a formidable midfield duo at the KC next season.

Excellent, that's what I'll do! If anyone knows the schedule and has a recommendation for the best game I could see sometime between July 27th and August 16th, that would be great. If you don't, I'll certainly find one as the time draws nearer.

Just following up on my previous post.

So here's some more info. As I said I'm getting into town (London) July 27th and leaving the 16th. I have no allegiance to any team as of now, so, if possible, I'd love to see a match between good teams that would be a lot of fun. I also have no idea what the difference between all these tickets are. Is there anyone who can let me know what I should go see given my time constraints and my location? I also don't mind touting, given the price is at least reasonable. Also, add to that I have no idea what reasonable is, but maybe 100 pounds?

I believe the English football season traditionally starts with the curtain-raiser of the annual Charity Shield match which this year is on the 10th of August. The Premier League kicks off on the 16th of August. Your best bet instead might be to see some pre-season friendlies.

That's fine with me. My problem is I know (right now) next to nothing on what teams are worth seeing, where to even be looking for teams and schedules, and how to buy tickets. I don't mean to be high maintenance, I'm just completely and utterly lost on this.

These are the teams in this year's Premier League.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/default.stm

Of those, these are the teams based in London:

• Arsenal
• Chelsea
• Fulham
• Tottenham and...
• West Ham

However, it appears that most pre-season friendlies are held away from Premier League grounds and many schedules and fixtures haven't even been set yet. Best to go to each club's websites and have a good look around.

Thanks Blue Velvet, that was very helpful. I looked at some clubs and the match that I want to go to (along with everyone else in the rest of the world) is Arsenal vs. Real Madrid on Sunday, August 3rd at Emirates. I know it's sold out, but how do I go about getting tickets, and how much should I expect to pay if I want reasonably good seats where I can see the action well?

If it's sold out, then you're left with touts (scalpers) outside the grounds who aren't known for their charity or truth in product descriptions; you could end up with seats right high up in the corners, behind a stanchion. I would imagine people easily paying £200-300 or more for seats to this game.

200 or 300 for the high corner seats, or just in general? I know no one can provide perfectly accurate estimates, but I have no experience with past matches, so I don't know what would be normal. Are there any sites online that sell tickets people are reselling? Not directly through the FC, but just a third party agent?

May I offer another suggestion.

The Football League season starts on August 9. Now, these are the leagues directly below the Premier League. If you go to one of those games, then a) you'll be able to get a ticket, b) you'll see a game that actually counts for something, c) people might say you'd get a more 'real' soccer experience.

On August 9th there are many games in London in the football league:

Football League Championship Division (1 league directly below the Premier League)

Charlton Athletic v. Swansea City
Crystal Palace v. Watford
Queens Park Rangers v. Barnsley

Football League One (2 leagues below the Premiership)

Leyton Orient v. Hereford United

Football League Two (3 leagues below the Premiership)

Barnet v. Chesterfield

May I offer another suggestion...
An excellent suggestion, plus of course these are actually competitive matches rather than friendlies so the players (hopefully) won't just be going through the motions.

Of the games you suggest, the Crystal Palace vs Watford match might be the one to pick. Both teams finished high in the Championship last season (both made the play-offs, of course) and it's a bit of a derby, so in theory at least it should be a decent game.

A much better idea. :)

I just assumed that this was the old Premier League thread. I'll get my coat...

Yes, I like that idea. The reason I was stuck up on Arsenal or premier league was because that is what I have heard of over in the states. It seems to me if I were going to see a soccer match, that it should be from teams in the highest league.

Let me offer an analogy to those who watch baseball. Even though many minor league teams are competitive, fun to watch, and exciting, someone still might want to see a major league baseball game just because it's major league baseball. The caliber of players are higher, and all that good stuff. I definitely do want to see a soccer match, and I'm not at all against seeing one of the matches swiftaw suggested, but I hope you get my point.

Yes, but (continuing your analogy) would you rather see a competitive AAA game, or a a major league spring training game where no-one is trying too hard and all the stars are out of the lineup by the midway point?
