Oh God yes, my usual football podcasters have been mocking it for days. What the hell was he thinking? It's almost as bad as the taunting Frenchman from The Holy Grail.

He also speaks better English than McClaren too – if good interviews are your thing your Lordship, I don't know if this clip has made its way across to your side of the Atlantic yet, but despite only being in the Netherlands for two months the former England manager seems to have developed a comedy Dutch accent. :p

Oh dear...

I'm not sure what Juande Ramos' plan is but there's simply no way Spurs can afford to replace both Keane and Berbatov, regardless of money - I don't think two strikers of their quality are on the market anywhere.

At this point, I really think Ramos' plan is to jettison the players he doesn't like, get the ones he does, and meld them into a real team. I'm not sure it's any more complicated than that, although obviously the Keane and Berbatov defections make that much harder.

Clearly, Berbatov hasn't been moved yet because they haven't secured Arshavin (or whomever). Until they find his replacement, they have to be skittish about selling him. But they don't have much time, so they may have to sell him off to secure the funds and wait until January. :(

So far I like the players that Ramos has acquired and don't mind losing the ones he's given up (except for Keane and Berbatov, of course). But at this point, the big worry has to be that the team won't gel in time to stay in the top half of the standings.

I assume you mean the ESPN Soccernet guys?

Juande may be skittish about letting Berbatov go till they saign someone else, but he's unsettled anyway and if United offered 25 million pounds for him I say it's a win-win...he doesn't want to play for Spurs anyway. For 25 million you can get two or even three quality players.

Arshavin isn't going anywhere - and if he does leave the Russian mob will have him killed.

No, I usually listen to World Soccer Daily. Pretty good show, done by a Chelsea fan and and a Rangers fan, both of them expats. The only downside of the show is that the Chelsea fan has an extreme hatred of Liverpool.

Have any of you heard the "Crouchy's having his nachos" story"? It's from the guardian podcast, which I ever listen to. Funny!

EDIT: Unfortunately, United won today. But Portsmouth can take heart, they've had to play United several times in a short span and none of the games were a rout (can't say the same about Chelsea).

Can't sleep - maybe I should watch the re-run of the Portsmouth - Man Utd game, bore-fest or what!

Football Manager Live goes 'live' today. Its a bit like Football Manager, only on a Warcraft style basis. Mind you at £72.99 per year it ain't cheap!

But what the hell, I will give it a go.

Anyone else up for a game?

Yes, we've seen/heard it. All of my cousins, aunts and uncles who have lives in the Netherlands for their entire lives apparently speak better English than Mr. McClaren.

As an update, I have just signed up to Football Manager Live.

If you want to do the same you will need to be quick, they only have 14,000 places to start with.

If anyone fancies a game in October I have signed up to the Shearer gameword and my team is:

Phil Brown's Black and Amber Army

Anton Ferdinand to sign for Scumderland for £8m – I don’t rate him at all especially for that much, their board of Irish businessmen must have money to burn.

I think he’s injury and mistake prone, that likes the nightlife too much, anyone else rate him?

That looks expensive...basically it's an overgrown fantasy football league? Seems like it demands a better knowledge of players in other leagues, since you don't start out with the ability to buy Premier league players.

I've signed up to FML as well. Only went for the 3 months for now, a lot more expensive than I was expecting.

We'll see what it's like. FWIW, I'm in the King Eric game world under Microstars United.

Ace. We're handing a debut to 16-year old defender Liam Cooper in tonight's League Cup tie against Swansea City.

Good to see that we're doing what every good Premier League club should do in the Cup and are playing our kids. :D

Well at least he's coping better than Ian Rush and his classic "Its like being in a different country" line when he left for Juventus.

Pah, the FA Cup's where it's at.

Well, a few upsets today in the Carling Cup. It was a close game and the winner was a penalty at that, so I think the Tigers can hold their heads high.

Pavlyuchenko headed to Spurs
...You'd have to think this means they've finally agreed to terms with Man U, and if Tottenham sell Berbatov for around 25 million they could potentially get both Pavlyuchenko and Arshavin - and that's about the best shot they have at replacing Keane and Berbatov.

A few good deals before the transfer window closes, and Spurs might just rescue their potentially stillborn campaign.

Sorry, but I didn't see anything of Pavlyuchenko to get too excited about in the Euros, and as for Arshavin, well he's a dman fine player, but another creative midfielder Spurs don't need...

A defence is what they need for sure. Zokora at right back? Ripped apart by Downing. In fact, a whole defence plus a defensive midfielder would do them fine. Xabi Alonso to Spurs???:p

Together they're greater than the sum of their parts. And to be frank, Spurs are running out of time and options.
