Hagreaves will miss the next World Cup qualifier. That's three first-team players out...

Hoo boy, that Croatia match is going to be rough times for the Lions. The Croats know they can win - they are essentially playing the same team they knocked out of Euro 2008.

...What happens to Cappello of Croatia wins?

So Aston Villa have payed NUFC £10m+ plus for James Milner, they must have money to burn methinks!

A young player (still only 22 surprisingly) with exceptional work rate but lacking in pace and not very good at the fast passing game, most importantly for a winger he’s absolutely terrible at putting a cross in – struggles to cross his legs never mind the ball.

£10m+ that’ll do nicely, but unfortunately Leeds get a cut of the deal!

If Alan Smith and Shola Ameobi can be offloaded then the talentless would have been cleared off the books. All that’s needed is Keegan to do some deals for some top players by monday night and NUFC might have put together a decent squad for a change – but it’s going to be a tense wait for this to come to fruition!

I hate transfer windows, they do my head in!

That is a lot of money, too much I think. But fair play to NUFC. Besides, you'll need that cash to buy a striker when Owen leaves.

WILL BERBATOV MOVE OR NOT?

I think United will not pay what Tottenham is currently asking, so the question is, who will blink first? I can;t imagine him rotting in the reserves till January.

Some beautiful football being played in Monaco - Zenit St. Petersburg are playing Man U off the pitch at the moment. The Russians lead 1-0 at the half, and it could be 3-0.

United have a clear edge in pace and possession but Zenit has matched them in strength and are showing better organization and technical skill. United are showing a lack of width in the attack, and there have been a few major mix-ups in defense. Evra might be good going forward, but Zenit has sliced open United's defense on the right numerous times. Gary Neville is not match fit. Nani and Tevez look sharp, but the rest of the team looks a bit flat.

Fergie is shouting at this very moment. :D

EDIT: Interestingly, Arshavin appears to be coming on for Zenit at the beginning of the second half...I thought he was "on strike"? United, renowned for their heartbreaking last-minute goals, will nevertheless have their hands full.

Indeed – my sources have confirmed we're hoping to secure his signature before the transfer window closes, along with a couple of other unidentified players...

Surely if this happens then Man U have to be bringing in another striker, seeing as they have got rid of Saha too.

You'd have thought so, but I'm hoping Fergie would either be happy with his striking options sans Campbell or he's got another potential purchase up his sleeve...

Young Frazier is on the bench in Monaco this evening, as it happens.

Meanwhile Man U are getting the runaround in Monaco.

Who Are Ya United? ;)

More joy for Zenit as Danny Alves scores the second goal of the match after a superb individual effort with Arshavin creating a lot of space on the left for him. Rooney looks very rusty.

Bring on Frazier. He'll show those Russians what he learned last year. ;)

Who knows? if Rooney continues to be invisible Frazier may get a sniff. Right now Tevez and Rooney seem to be trying to occupy the same space.

EDIT: Bollocks. Vidic dinks in a loose ball and gets lucky to keep United in the game. They've still got their work cut out for them though. Zenit need to tighten it up.

EDIT 2: HAHAHA! Paul Scholes thinks it's olympic volleyball and he's attempted a hand of god goal with a flagrant handball from 12 yards out. It's in the back of the net, but he's no Maradona, and gets sent off for a second yellow card. Surely Zenit can hang on?

EDIT 3:And that's it. Pure class from Zenit, they brought a textbook counterattack to Monaco and United couldn't deal with it. They will be a very dangerous opponent in the Champions League this year, even if Arshavin (who didn't look 100% match fit) leaves.

I see Man U have drawn Celtic in the Champions League. That really bugs me, I mean who do I hate the most! Who should I support? :p

Old Firm on Sunday, I've got my predictor down for 1-1. Trying to take my mind off it by going to the gowf at Gleneagles tomorrow.

Obviously Paul is an avid reader of this thread and – spurred on by Brianstorm91's suggestion that he's the finest player to grace the English game – attempted to prove he's as good as Maradona.

Well, I hope you're proud of yourself Brianstorm91. Look what you made the lad go and do.

I've just heard some frankly appalling news.

Regular readers will no doubt be aware of my views regarding QPR. Put simply, they're dirty, time-wasting, match spoiling, injury feigning, new right-back injuring, glove wearing cheats. Just so we're clear about that.

Anyway, the Italian regime at Loftus Road has decided to retire their mascot, because in Italy black cats are felt to be unlucky...

...so it's pipe and slippers for this mangy feline. However, in its place they've appointed a new mascot – and he's a tiger!

How QPR dare associate themselves with this most magnificent of beasts totally escapes me. They'd surely be better suited to a rat or a snake or something similar?

Unfortunately I didn't get to see the whole match last night but from what I saw it seems fair that Zenit won.

Saha is a striker :eek::p:)
