I was at that match, about 4 seats and an aisle away from the Porto fans.
They were so loud and passionate, they were all I could here until we scored. At 2-0 up you could barely here a peep out of them :D

The fans were pretty dire at the Porto game.

I pity NUFC fans right now - there seems to be no bottom to this abyss so far...Kinnear's rant was almost as ridiculous as the media's feigned shock over it.

I knew very little of this guy before his appointment as interim manager, but he seems to have "headcase" written all over him. He almost seems intent on PR suicide.

It's just lurching from one mess to another at the moment. There was a chap on the telly last night reckoning Kinnear's tirade may have been a bit of reverse psychology – trying to foster an 'us against them' siege mentality at the club – if this was his motivation and it wasn't simply a case of him losing his temper then I think he's playing a very dangerous game...

Woo-hoo!!! 3-1 win against the Latics :)

7th in the table right now. So much for us being this season's whipping boys...

that would go to Everton, that is...any suggestions?

I hear that Kegan is available :D

Moyes will stay at the club, I think it was just a reaction to quite a big finacial loss as well as perhap realisation that they aren't a big four club.

Indeed, It will bring the fans around him and offer him some protection. I do feel this is only going to be short lived protection, perhaps 1 game or 2. However after that if Newcastle don't win it will just turn back into the circus that it hs become.

Part of the problem that I see with the club and perhaps a reason to the backlash against NUFC in general is that it is the fans fault they are in this mess.

Two volleys and a lob sound like a good second half. Good win too as it keeps you in and around those vital places. Shame to see Leeds + Millwall higher than you.

The media will run stories for the next couple of days reporting how the other rival medias report the event. Then they'll stay low for a couple of months then come out with their knives. It happened with Diana's brother. He's just made some pretty powerful enemies.

As this thread is quiet today (must be something to do with most Premiership matches taking place tomorrow) I thought I'd do a bit of gloating...

Where are you now OllyW??? Class is finally showing and Birmingham are top and Wolves have taken a beating in the last two games :D

People have been saying he is set to move to another Premier league club (Tottenham is most often mentioned), but I think just about any club outside the top four would be a step down for him, with the possible exception of Man City (though I think the new owners will keep Hughes around).

I agree - and I'm puzzled as to why they are so in love with Keegan. He made a run on the prem once with the team, but other than that he hasn't won anything and he's walked out on the club what, three times now?

At first I was stunned at Kinnear's tirade, but having listened to it now I'll bet every manager secretly wishes they could say the same to the press. You know Fergie and Roy Keane especially are not far off sometimes. And, like you said, maybe it will light a fire in the Newcastle squad. What does he have to lose anyhow? He'll be gone in a few weeks regardless of the results.

... In case anybody cares, Becks has received an automatic suspension for yellow card accumulation in the MLS. Frankly, it's been a long time coming. The refs here are still in awe of him and let him get away with a ton of stuff. I've watched several instances where he's committed straight red offenses and gotten off with a warning. The Galaxy are set to miss out on the playoffs for the third straight year. They're lucky we don't do relegation over here. What a ***** club.

Up Columbus!

I have stopped celebrating when Hull score now, I just burst out laughing, what is going on!

Come on you 'ull.

Benitez had better get the lads fired up over the break...I can't stomach losing at the Middle Eastlands.

I would not have started Keane from the bench, either. <sighs> Ah Rafa, back to the ol' rotation nonsense are we? We need at least a point here.

EDIT: What a comeback! I was just saying to myself "We have the best center forward on earth in the squad and he can't fail to score"....and so it came to pass.

Last year I would have totally given up on this game, but this season Liverpool have a better squad and a sense of purpose. This could be a good season for us. Still, the draws killed us last season, so hopefully Liverpool have another goal left in them today.

...And they do!

EDIT2: I am speechless, Jaffa. What on earth is in the water up in Hull? This is fairytale stuff. Tottenham are not the force they were last year, to be sure, but 3rd place...Wow!

I think we're probably best off not knowing.

There's a long way to go yet, and I doubt very much we'll be in this position come May – but things are quite, quite ace at the moment.

And so are we. :D

The only thing I'm missing from Hull right now is a Dean Windass goal. Hope he gets a decent run out at some point but it looks unlikely.

I have to say also that my opinion of Dirk Kuyt has changed. I hated him last year as a striker, but in his current role on the wing he has proven to be a very effective player. He's scored some pretty crucial goals already.

What's nonsense about rotation? Fergie and Mourinho did it EXACTLY the same amount of times when they won the league. It's also got us to two european cup finals and a semi in 4 seasons. Know your football ;)

Nonsense, mate. You're in some kind of result induced psychosis ;)

Well done to Hull City.

He didn't play last season as a Striker, not since his first season has he done that. I love Kuyt. He went through such a tough time with his Dad's death, but he's back now and has a wonderful record in the European cup.

Get with it, lordster :D

Go easy on the Yank. :D

I agree that Rafa isn't the only one changing squads to meet the demands of the season, but it seemed to me last season that there were times when Benitez did some swaps that just didn't work, or left players on the bench of long periods and they lost match-fitness (Crouch especially).

He and Voronin were both starting as forwards last season, weren't they? He does seem to get up for the Champions League games though.

I won't deny it!

maybe they need to go down....

but i bet they won't. still very early in the season. i hope not, spurs are my other team in the Prem. even though i'm fascinated with hull right now my heart is still with spurs.

oh and Wednesday. ;)

but we're all Wednesday aren't we? :D
