The inevitable has happened at Man City with Sven finally being sacked. They're reporting on the radio that Blackburn have given Man City permission to speak to Mark Hughes.

The question is: if you were Mark Hughes would you want to leave Blackburn for one season at Eastlands?

Which was your team's best performance this season?
The win over Leicester in the last week.

And which was your team's worst?
First 7 matches. A.K.A. August and September. :(

Overall, who has been your team's best player?
Marcus Tudgay.
Honorable mention: Deon Burton, Akpo Sodje.

Which player have you seen who – realistically – you'd like your side to sign this summer?
Who can we afford?

For those of you who attend matches, which is the best ground you've visited this season?
Sadly NA.
I had the chance to go to the UK but it didn't work out. I would've seen Hillsborough and White Hart Lane.

What was your most memorable moment of the season?
Beating Leicester to avoid relegation.

Overall, do you rate this season as being a success or failure for your side?
A bit of a let down. Not a failure but only a middling success. We finished the O6/O7 campaign on a big high and then came out very flat for the first two months. We didn't get relegated so that is a plus. :apple:

UP YOU OWLS!!

Which was your team's best performance this season?
6-0 against Wycombe at home. Played on a slippy pitch in the rain, but we completely destroyed them :)

And which was your team's worst?
Has to be the loss to Staines in the FA Cup. We looked completely out of ideas and just couldn't string more than two passes together even against a non-league team. And with all those people watching on TV too, it was just embarrassing :(

Overall, who has been your team's best player?
Michael Rose. It's no coincidence that his coming back from injury and our sudden improvement in form appeared to be simulaneous.

Which player have you seen who – realistically – you'd like your side to sign this summer?
John Ruddy. A commanding figure between the sticks and totally trusted by our defence. Failing him, I'll take Conrad Logan for the same position.

For those of you who attend matches, which is the best ground you've visited this season?
An extremely easy one this. I refer you to jaffa's earlier answer ;)

What was your most memorable moment of the season?
Securing promotion of course. Nobody wanted to leave that stadium :D

Overall, do you rate this season as being a success or failure for your side?
Total unreserved success both on and off the field. We're back from the brink and climbing the league again.

I thought England played well-ish. T&T are not as bad a team as they made them selves look in the first 20 minutes. England we're comfortable though.

Again, Downing and Bentley we're piss poor.

You do this to me on purpose!
:p
And yes, I agree on the last sentence. Final ball + ball retention weren't there.

oh dear Blackburn fans....

Top manager Mark Hughes goes to Man City.
Sam Allardyce in as a replacement.

If it’s true, my sympathies.

Downing was named as one of the better players at half-time. He setup Bridge for the first goal and the played Defoe in for the second. Otherwise he was taking on the right back and genuinely playing well. I may be a Boro fan but even if I wasn't I'd still think Downing gets a lot of unwarranted stick.

I agree, I thought Downing played OK - two assists plus he and Bridge gave the poor right back a torrid time.

Yay, first post in the new thread, no135 already so whats the chances we'll break 5000+ posts in record time this year. And at last I can talk about Scottish fitba' without appologising or looking for tenuous links to justify the post.

Chosen one goes to Inter, I guess that's him ruled out of Chelsea then.

Gretna no longer in existence :( It was fun while it lasted, but when are we going to learn that these wealthy backers soon loose interest.

Means there is space at the bottom for a new club, with Renfrew's recent poor form, common the mighty Pollock! ;)

That's hardly fair.

Yes and no. I don't personally have an axe to grind about Brook Mileson, hope he can make a recovery. In a way I think Brooks is an exception because he is a bit of a philanthropist and supported the game on both sides of the border at grass roots level, giving generous donations to non-league clubs and supporters foundations, but Gretna were in trouble before he became ill, their business plan just wasn't viable.

I can't help but think he has (inadvertently) made a mockery of the Scottish game, especially the way it's dragged on over the months. It's not the first (Third Lanark, Airdrie, Blackburn, Leeds) and won't be the last.

Rant about the Premiership

OK, so the mighty Tiger have gained promotion to the Holy Grail of English football and in turn we have one less question for the football trivia quizzes. Anyway I now need a good rant. I have followed Hull since I first went to see them aged 10 in 1993. We played Rotherham and won 4-1 with Steve Moran scoring a hat-trick. In the intervening 15 years I have followed them through a lot of bad times, but in the last 6 years, many very good times.

As time goes by I have moved away from Hull for university and now a new job, but that is life, I would like to stay in Hull (yes I really would) but I need to move for my job. In the last 3-4 season I have been to fortress KC about 8-10 times per season (not bad considering I have been living in Bristol and it is not a cheap journey) and the dream of watching city in the Premiership is one I have had for many years. My grandfather has been following the Tigers since before WWII so it is extra special for him. But going to see a Premiership game will not be that easy, oh no. Why? Well read on if you have not fallen asleep yet.

The club, in their infinite wisdom, have sold around 20,500 season tickets for a stadium capable of holding 24,000. The Premier League insist on 10% given up for away fans so that leaves, yup you got it, 1,000 general sale tickets per game. Now you can guarantee that these will not be available on-line, only in person. How the hell can anyone not living in Hull get any tickets for any game? And you can guarantee that as soon as city start to loose a few games some of those 20,500 won't bother turning up, in-fact I am sure some of them will have never been to watch Hull play before this season.

But hang on, I am now living near Oxford so a game in London / Birmingham would be easy to get to. Yup easy to get to. Impossible to get tickets for though. If Hull get an allocation of 3,000 at each away game then they will all go to priority season ticket holders. So I may just be able to get to Fulham or Portsmouth on a Wednesday night.

Wow that was a good rant and I feel better for it. I so badly want to see Hull do well this season and it really annoys me the thought for glory hunters getting to watch the game before the true fans. They should ask questions like who is Hull City's top goal scorer of all time (no not Dean Windass, he only just makes the top 10) or who was the manager to "The Great Escape" season. Sort the fans out from the glory hunters.

So anyone got a spare Hull City ticket going let me know, thanks.

You are lucky you don't live in London. There's 14,000 on the waiting list to get a Man Utd season ticket ;)

Ha, they could always go and watch Man Utd reserves, that would make them true fans. I think in Spain Barcelona their reserve team have their own stadium around 20,000 capacity and it sells out nearly all the time!

The problem with Hull is that a lot of these "fans" won't like it if (an when :() we get spanked 4 and 5 nill so come Christmas a load of those season ticket holders won't be turning up and the stadium will be half empty, a bit like Middlesbrough!

I can sympathise, R. I'm fortunate in so far as we've got our season tickets all sorted (at the start of March, when they first went on sale funnily enough) but I know exiled Tigers – some of whom have supported the club for decades – who visit the stadium whenever they're back home. Many of them won't be able to do it now, due to the limited number of seats that are going to be available. I wonder if the queues outside the KC would have been quite so long this week had it been Bristol City who were victorious at Wembley? I doubt it very much.

On the one hand, all these new pass holders are a good thing because it's bringing money into the club – this really can't be underestimated. But there's one thing that really does concern me, other than the issue you highlight. All these new pass holders will happily file in to watch the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, but will they venture out in such numbers on a cold Tuesday night in December to watch us take on Fulham or Stoke? Once again, I doubt it – but if we are to survive next season these are going to be the games we need to win, the games where we need a ground full of supporters getting behind the team.

A couple of things to remember though, in so far as your chances of getting tickets – as you say, there is likely to be a percentage of folk who lose interest (especially in games against 'smaller' clubs) so if you're going to be back up in East Yorkshire put a few feelers out, someone you or your family knows might have a pass they either don't want or simply can't use on that given occasion. Also, I would imagine that some away trips to places like Wigan or Bolton won't be popular among anyone but the diehards, especially if they're in the latter part of the season and we're struggling. Hopefully, there'll be some trips that you're able to make and can get a ticket for.

Anyway, I'd better not end up with some idiot in a Manchester United/Chelsea/Liverpool shirt sat next to me next season, constantly moaning about how rubbish City are. I might get cross with them.

Sorry, but Stuart Downing is an absolute waste of time. He is forever loosing the ball and never bothers his arse to try and get it back. The amount of times I saw him just standing there watching was unbelievable, especailly at international level. After that, he has five goes at getting it into the box and once it actually gets past the first man.

He set up 2 goals within the first 20 minutes, I think I could have set up 2 goals playing against a T&T side that looked that poor.

So I'm gonna be in London from July 27th to August 16th. Any chance there will be a good socc...err...football match I can go see? (I don't know about the different seasons and stuff)

Premiership, 5% minimum allocation for away fans. At Arsenal: 60,000, we give 3,000. I sympathise R.Youden, that's a **** situation to be in :(

Not sure when the season starts but you should be able to get the Community Shield and see Man Utd play Portsmouth at Wembley. It is a bit of a pre season friendly but any game at Wembley is worth it and you will see some of the worlds best players.

As long as it's crowded I'm good. :D

What is the community shield? Do I just buy tickets from vendors? Sorry for the newbie questions, not very well versed on European football as you can tell.

Emirates Cup, Arsenal vs. Juventus. Tickets on General Sale at the moment. Arsenal vs. Real Madrid the next day is sold out. That's as good as you'll get on general sale in London at that time of the year.

The Premier League season starts on the 16th August, so if you're going back on that date then you're not likely to be able to get to a game I imagine. A pity, because the mighty Tigers might be playing in the capital on that date. ;)

The fixtures for the Premier League and football League are out on June 16th, so we'll know which teams are playing each other then – of course, matches will be shuffled around to meet the demands of the TV people.

You might be able to get into a friendly or two though, Badandy. Not as exciting as a 'proper' match but they're cheaper and demand for tickets shouldn't be too great. I'd keep an eye on the club websites over the next month or so, as they'll start to announce who they're all organising matches against.
