Nooooooooo!

Bizarrely, fellow releasee Frank Belt was to be #2 of Hull City Players You Should Learn The Names Of. Clearly it's a cursed list so I won't feature anyone else, unless there's somebody seriously wasting a squad number.

Anyway, Jay-Jay is gone too. Not really a surprise as injury has seriously hampered his progress for us this past season.

Your list is now a truckload of fail :p

I'm gonna make one and hopefully it'll have the same results.

MR, meet Claudio; Claudio, bugger off.

Heh. We're going to be a world brand. :D

This is all very surreal, actually – seeing Premier League web pages and stuff gradually being updated to feature little old us. It's really going to be bizarre when the pre-season guides come out and we're featured prominently, it's not that long ago we were in Division Three (as it was then) and we were little more than a footnote.

As le Boro fan de jour :)D), we've overtaken you as worst town in the UK and been in the Premier League for longer, so when your chairman thinks Hull City could be a world brand ... no!:p

PS: weren't you guys going to get Boro leg' Juninho until the last mo last season
Yep, he came over, had a look at the stadium and took away a complimentary copy of the local newspaper.

Apparently, the negotiations reached an advanced stage but a major stumbling block was that the diminutive Brazilian wanted a huge bonus if we got promoted to the Premier League – I think he wanted £1 million if I remember rightly.

Dos Santos has officially been transfered to Tottenham. Everything has been signed and he will arrive on July 1st. For those that don't know he was one of the most promising players to come out of Barça's youth academy in the last two years (alongside Bojan) however he failed to nail down a first team spot, what with Messi on the right and Henry on the left. :D

He is fast, very strong and shoots at every opportunity. Although his performances for Barça this season were inconsistent he did score a superb hattrick on the final day of the season.

Barça retain 20% of his purchase rights.

So Euro 2008 kicks off tomorrow, and I noticed something strange. The US and England have something in common: neither will be playing. :p

Edit: Guess what just popped up on FSC: Croatia scoring against England in the 75th minute or so to eliminate them. Nice timing!

I am amazed they sold him. I saw him play towards the end of last season I think and I thought "Yeah, him and Bojan are the future of Barca" and when I heard him linked wit Spurs I didn't think there was a chance they'd sell him. Shows what I know. But frack™ me what a signing for Spurs... and for £5 million up front. Ace.

Now this bit could be fun, what with the Premier league recently banning ownership of players by a third party. I think some players in the past have had an element of this in a deal, but I wonder whether they'll look at more carefully moves like this in the future..

I think it's just that Barcelona will be entitled to 20% of any future transfer fee should the player move from Spurs, not that they own 20% of the player (I'd opt for his feet, myself). Might be wrong, though.

EDIT: Just read this...

Barcelona have retained the right to 20% of any fee should the 19-year-old move on from Spurs in the first two years of his spell with the club.

And they will get 10% of any fee if he is sold later in his contract.

Yeah, quite simply a very legitimate sell-on clause.

You really shouldn't mention that, there are a lot of us English football fans who are still upset over that game :(

A sore point perhaps, but it was nearly the best thing that could have happened to England. They needed a wakeup call, and the way they were playing in the Euro 2008 qualifiers they were on track for major embarrassment in 2010. I think England has a better chance to do well in the World Cup under Capello than they ever would have done under McLaren, even if I find Capello's retention of Beckham totally mystifying.

Well the Euro's have been good so far. I've managed to watch all four games and I've been quite impressed. My smart money for on Croatia but I think they might struggle without someone to stick the ball in the net (Eduardo) but the German's looked mighty good.

Looking forward to Holland - Italy tonight.

Shame for the Croats.. they would be real contenders if they have Eduardo as well.. still - we'll see what they can do.

Shame about France not being better against Romania, but it was made up for by the lovely Dutch kicking the pants off of the Italians. I've not enjoyed lunch that much in a while. Hup, Holland, Hup!
