I honestly think we will see a big club go down this season, looking at the bottom of the table.....

....Newcastle must be hurting that they must win by 3 clear goals to go above Sunderland when they play them in the derby.

I think that there is a good chance that 2 of the promoted teams could stay up which will cause mayhem for the finances/stability of the relegated teams. Watch out for Middlesbrough slipping into the free for all as well as their squad looks weak.

NUFC’s season starts this weekend with a few more players back from injury (including Spidey and the loveable Joey Barton) and hoping Beye’s suspension is justifiably rescinded. Being below scumderland is not good, but defeat down there is too unpleasant to contemplate.

I’m looking forward to seeing Sergio Aguero playing against Liverpool tonight, he’s looked awesome at times.

I wouldn't have expected Rangers to do any better.)

When you come out and play there is always the chance of letting a goal or two in at the back. Rangers with 11 men behind the ball hoping for an own goal or something might have just scraped a draw.

Beye's suspension should be overturned and it is yet another mistake by Rob Styles. He is such a bad referee.

Newcastle have a stronger squad than Sunderland and they must have a growing confidence after the last two draws. The players must believe a win is coming and add in the derby factor I think you have a good chance of winning. But you never know.

Augero is good, shame he will be playing in the wrong colours tonight.

The problem is they didn't even do this, as Lord Blackadder said above they left it far too late in the transfer window to even be in the position to spend money. This ultimately is their downfall.

Beckham to join AC Milan on loan.

As an added bonus for his dear wife Victoria Milan just happens to be a major fashion point of Europe.

they some spending in the off season tho.. that is what i referred to.

If this happens it's a big blow to the MLS. We paid Beckham a tremendous amount of money to come to MLS with the specific goal of growing the sport in the US. So what does Beckham do to build the brand? Well, apparently he'd rather focus on staying fit for England and to that end he's willing to be seen playing in a Milan shirt. That totally cheapens things as I see it.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that the MLS is a third-tier league (and should align it's playing schedule with the rest of the world), but by going back to Europe I feel like the whole 250 million dollar deal feels like a farce. How can he build the sport in the US if he's playing in Serie A? I don't have a problem with him training with another team during the off season (like he did with Arsenal), but playing in competitive games is something else in terms of physical stress and the principle of the thing in terms of where one's allegiance lies.

I'm sure he's frustrated at the complete farce that is the LA Galaxy, but what if he's knackered/injured playing for England or Milan? At his age a bad injury could be career ending.

Agreed. Two howlers in quick succession, and pretty much the same call to boot. Those were two of the best tackles I've seen...never a penalty.

There are those who claim that satire died when Dr. Kissinger received his Nobel Peace Prize...

I want to be role model - Barton

Beye’s red card and suspension has been overturned so he will play on Saturday, Owen is out, but no news yet on Spidey.

I am a huge football fan and have been for nearly 30 years, but for the life of me, I have not been able to watch that much each season until the World Series is over so every year I miss part of the NFL season. But the better part of the season, where division champs, playoffs, and Superbowl fall in is where I have a lot of fun.

I think you are in the wrong place. :p

Try looking here. :D

Watched the Liverpool match yesterday. Keane's miss was vital. had that gone in the game would've been sealed up but a 1-0 lead is never enough especially with so much of the game to be played. There were warning signs for a good 5-10 minutes before the goal came. Brilliant finish.

News is that the game might have inflicted injuires to Alonso and Keane which considering the next match is against Chelsea that could prove to be vital.

Good to see Babel back.

Thats good news about Beye

It was such a detailed and long post I thought I would only be fair to move it, unlike those others which are just nothing.

Never mind that - what do reckon about Wigan's chances of keeping Zaki beyond January?

I accidentally got carried away thinking this was "football", yankee style. :)

My bad, but football, as this thread is about was one of the sports I did in high school back in the day when professional American teams were considered terrible. But we got some imports since then!

If they have "first option" on him, they should buy him A.S.A.P. and then sell him on for a quick profit in the next transfer window.

Who say's capitalism's dead? ;)

Haha, cheeky. We both know that's a silly thing to see now don't we :p

I did mean the one apart from our hairy faced friend.

Tottenham suffered from a major blunder by Gomez, a poor header by Bent, then committing too many forward. It was the right result from that game.

Yet another red card for spurs as well.

The Ajax kit looks quite a lot like Chelsea's.

Great start by both teams, this is clearly a much higher calibre game then the one earlier.
