I have to admit that i was quite surprised by the news, what is about Hotspurs that make them so attractive? I think Harry just sees it as a step closer to the National Top-Dog spot.

P.S. Way to go Hull! My friend and I had training yesterday and wasted 2 hours trying to recreate the second goal scored by Geo.

I'm not shocked by Redknapp's move, a lot of pundits have already opined that he'd taken Pompey as far as they could go. But can he save Spurs from the drop?

Hats off to Hull and I will continue to cheer them on wholeheartedly - they must be every neutral's team to follow now, with an incredible start to their first Prem campaign. What a story! And a richly deserved points haul so far.

BBC Radio Sheffield is reporting that there was a brawl after the Sunderland/Newcastle tilt. Did the "Geordies"(sp?) take exception to something?

first of all, the best team won,

it was the scumderland fans this time, but as I was not at the game I can only relay what my (NUFC supporting) mates witnessed, appalling policing before, during and after the game. They encountered constant barrage of objects rained down on them, mainly coins causing many head injuries. And as ever at the SoL, when they score their fans invade the pitch, they ran towards the NUFC fans and the only ones who were stopped were the 2 who confronted Shay Given. This was repeated in greater numbers at the final whistle, yes some moronic NUFC fans did retaliate and fists were flying and a few more idiots threw objects back. What is so surprising was that there were only a few stewards to segregate the fans at the end of the game. Joey Barton got a ‘warm’ reception to, with many missiles sent in his direction as he warmed up.

NUFC are in relegation fight and tuesdays home game against the Baggies is now a must win.

Oh my, Hull are really mauling the Premiership!

I've got to say, seeing highlights of the game one thing that struck me – given the intensity of this particular derby – was how close the opposing supporters were to one another and the relative lack of stewards in attendance. Hopefully those responsible will be identified and banned.

Oh my, Hull are really mauling the Premiership!.
Yes. Yes, we are. :)

We've two incredibly difficult games next though, but on the other hand we've nothing to lose...

watching Hull as closely as I have been privalaged to do, something struck me yesterday. Ok we have won 6, drawn 2 and lost 1; but of the 6 games we have won, have we outplayed the opposition over 90 minutes? To me it appears that Hull appear able to cast a curse on the opposition strikers. Ok defensively we have been fantastic and Bo has made some great saves, but how many times have I seen opposition strikers miss sitters against us? I fear Man Utd and Chelsea will be far to clinical for us. Take the Wigan game, they only had 4 shots on goal and scored 5 times!

But hey, what a great start, up the Tigers!

the most worrying tale my mates told me about the SAFC/NUFC game was that hundreds of NUFC fans got let in without a ticket by slipping the turnstile operators £20 or by going in 2 at a time through the gate, they all new they could get in this way because they had done it before – madness!

My mate, even though he was sacked recently is the happiest man alive, as he’s a longterm Hull season ticket holder! Hull must be buzzing.

Oh Hull is buzzin', not that I am there as often as I would like. The only down-side is that all the "fans" who where not at the games 10 years ago when we where scrapping for our lives and now claiming all the glory. I think you can only claim be be a Hull City fan if you saw them play at Boothferry Parkon a Tuesday night in the LDV vans trophy (hell, most of the people at the KC on Wednesday will not have heard of the LDV vans trophy!)

You get bonus points if it was drizzling, and if we lost. :D I must admit that a part of me misses those fixtures.

As an aside, Ma and Pa Cake were at Boothferry Park to witness the first ever penalty shootout in English football history. Naturally, we lost. I'm not sure if it was drizzling, though.

When I watch City on MOTD or something similar and I wonder, is this really my Hull City? Is this the team that used to scrap for results against Rochdale and Hartlepool? For me, I am glad that the likes of Myhill, Ricketts and Ashbee are still at the club, they give everything a sense of realism.

I remember going to a game in the early 90's (one of my first ever games) and it was only 10 minutes before the game that they managed to clear the snow (all 2cm of it) off the pitch. Oh, and do you remember the half time giants? Those where the days....

Not in the Premiership?

Bad ground, few fans, unsustainable financial record. They're set for a big drop.

Every club is where it 'belongs'.

You can argue that Hull City do not deserve to be where they are.
The same can be said about Leeds, Notts Forrest, Hereford, Leicester, Charlton, Chelsea for that matter.

The league you are in is a result of your previous year's performance and you current league position is based on you form for that season. Portsmoth deserve to be where they are.

So to be in the Premiership you need a good ground. So that would get rid of Fulham and Portsmouth for a start and bring in teams like Leicester and Leeds.

Good fans, well Newcastle would win the league every year and the prawn sandwich brigade at OT would be in league 1 somewhere.

Good finances, just give the prize to Man City now.

This is the joy of football, the smaller less fancied teams coming up against the big teams and having a go. If every result was based on things other than the match, why play the game in the first place.

YES!!!

I just got back to the internet and have seen the excellent news...:D

It's safe to say that Liverpool looks substantially better this year than in the past few campaigns. We are winning even when we are missing key players or not playing very well. Last season we would have drawn or lost this game.

To be fair, Chelsea has a lot of injuries right now, but their current starting lineup is still world-class.

Interesting to see that Spurs won - big shake-up but should Levy have gone as well?

On what basis do Newcastle have such good fans? They are a ridiculously fickle bunch of Keegan-worshipping cretins that think they have a divine right to win things despite Newcastle not winning anything for.. a very long time.

John Welsh, he any good Jaffa?

Joined the not so mighty Blues from mighty Hull City. With 7 defeats in our last 8 games, we need something...

Welsh is a very good player. He is one who has been lost in the fast rise of Hull City. When he came he was a good League 1 / Championship player, but as the team has progressed rapidly, he has not, mainly due to being out for a year with a broken leg.

If you get him permanently (his contract is up at the end of the season) then he will be a good signing.

...unsustainable financial record. They're set for a big drop.
Speaking from experience, I see?

Markleshark – as R says, Welsh is a pretty good player on his day. One thing that does ring alarm bells is that he's been repeatedly overlooked by successive managers here, so I don't know if it's felt that he has an attitude problem or doesn't apply himself or something. In all fairness, he's not been lucky with injuries.

If you can get the best out of him at Brunton Park though, he could be a useful acquisition.

Blimey, Alan Hansen is a tool. The best passes ever from Gerrard yesterday..

I'm quite enjoying seeing Liverpool rise up.. safe in the knowledge they'll **** it up. And if they don't - at least it's not United or Chelsea winning it.

Heh – on Match of the Day on Saturday night he declared that Phil Brown must be kicking himself for not buying Kamil Zayette, having simply engineered a loan for the young Guinean international.

Well, actually Alan we agreed a fee for him quite some time ago – and I wouldn't have thought the BBC's researchers would find this information hard to track down, seeing as they reported it on their own website. :D

Hansen, Lawrenson et al know bugger all.

He still hasn't got over losing the title to Arsenal at Anfield in '89 ;)

Bugger. Well done to Liverpool but... poo.

Had to listen to it on the radio, it sounded hard-fought.

I watched the game and Chelsea only really had one out and out chance but (un)fortunatly it fell to Ashley Cole who sliced it. The Liverpool defence/midfield successfully kept the Chelsea midfield launching and hoping that something would happened. When Alonso's free kick hit the post I though Chelsea would come back and score to draw the game but thankfully that did not happen.

The end of the record streak had to come sometime but what an impressive record.

Hopefully Hull will no exploit the Liverpool learnings and dip in confidence. :)

Joey Barton should not be playing football however that said no one can condone the treatment he received of coins and bottles. The same goes for the fans raining down objects on Newcastle supporters.

It is all under investigation so I guess we will find out who is truly at fault but as you have suggested it is not just one incident but a culmination of many steaming from poor gate control. You would think that situations like this would not be present in football today but sadly it still is.

The media love reporting that every Newcastle fan wants Keegan back and the streets in Newcastle are full of hysterical people screaming for King Kev. This is simply not the case. I lived with a Newcastle fan for all of last season and when Keegan was appointed both he and all of his friends were dumbfounded at how it was being reported as from their view it was not the case. Yes there are some who still want Keegan back but it is nothing like what the media report.

and

Glass houses ...

Yes Hansen went a bit far yesterday, they weren't even that great. Bendtner pass for Adebayor was better than Gerrards two passes.

So not confident about your chances then.

Speaking of tools Rooney escapes investigation. Just the lack of respect for where he came from is abhorrent.

So I'm offline most of the weekend and check the scores Sunday afternoon to find that:

Shock #1: Spurs actually won a game.

and

Shock #2: Redknapp is suddenly the boss.

I'm not sure which is better or weirder.

I agree - They are two separate issues...Barton should not be on a pitch but supporters should have enough class not to lower themselves down to his level.

If you really look at it, what players really mean it with the badge kissing? With very, very few exceptions they are all complete mercenaries these days. Just about any player would leave his club for the right price. Giggs, Scholes and Neville are rare examples of truly loyal top players (though they are all old farts now). Who else out there can kiss their badge without irony?
