I miss Madden/Summeral. That was a great team. Micheals just talks to much about pointless stuff.

I agree. I don't know the inside story but from the outside I really thought it was bad the way that Madden tossed Summeral to the curb after so many years together.

Sweeeet. LT is lighting Denver up.

It's about time... he has had a disappointing season
Unlike his understudy M. Turner with the Falcons ;)

Congratulations Lions on a PERFECT SEASON!

Well, at least Jim Rome will be happy.

If misery loves company, consider my Brownies. Today:
  • they set the NFL record for most consecutive quarters (24) without an offensive touchdown, beating the record previously held by the '74 Bears (22);
  • they were shut out in consecutive games for the first time in franchise history;
  • GM Phil Savage was fired. Romeo's probably next, tomorrow.
I'd whine a little more and say, "God, what a horrible team," but Detroit fans have it even worse.

It won't be bad for long. Way out here in California, anytime we hear the name Browns, we hear the word Cowher. That should be interesting.

Lions=Epic fail. 1st team to go 0-16 in NFL history
Also, Denver fell apart like the Jets, don't really care about the Broncos but since I have season tickets for the jets I wanted them to win the division so I could go to a playoff game.... Maybe next year.... not

Disappointing Season for a Jets Fan

Unfortunately the donkeys showed up. But beware, THE BRONCOS WILL WIN IT ALL...in 2009...HOPEFULLY!

So the Pats go 11-5 and miss the playoffs yet an 8-8 team gets a 4th seed. I'm sure if one hates the Patriots they're laughin' it up.

Epic season for the Lions..

I'm liking the Falcons and the Ravens. Two teams both with rookie QB's and head coaches facing off in the Super Bowl...what a story that'd make.
Baltimore needs to get in the end zone a little more consistently, but they are certainly an average offense which is tons better than they've ever had. Defense travels...

I'm laughin it up. :D

Now I don't have to listen to my obnoxious patriot-fan friends drooling about the pats for the whole playoffs.

I just like that the colts are going into the playoffs right: hot as hell. :D

mangini got canned.

Tannenbaum should have gone too. It wasn't the Penguin that came in his pants at the thought of a signing a one year mercinary QB at the end of his career. Not to mention the horrible drafts the Jets have had. From DeBustashaw Ferguson to the Ghost Gholston, their drafts have stunk...

haha, i'm so glad mangini get fired. enjoy coaching some I-AA college team, *******.

even better is that they're keeping their incompetent GM who wants Brett Favre to come back next year.

LOL

Brett Favre ****ing sucks. I remember last year when he retired some people were saying he was a top 5 quarterback in NFL history. He's not even close. He's choked countless times when it actually mattered. That pick with about 5 minutes left today was probably one of the most retarded picks I've ever seen in the NFL.

He's set/beat almost every QB record, he's one of the top in history.

However at this moment, he's well past his prime. He's not going to carry a mediocre team to the playoffs as he managed to do in GB more than a few times, but if you give him a good team he will do better than most QBs. Given the right team he could make one more run at the Super Bowl but if that doesn't happen soon his age will really show and he'll fade off in mediocrity.

Sure he's known for making stupid passes into coverage and getting the INTs but overall he's won more games than lost by a pretty good margin (169-98) you don't do that by sucking.

I used to be one of his biggest defenders but it's time for him to retire, unless he can get on a team like the Patriots for one last run at the ring, where he's not the sole hope for the team winning. I never had him pegged to be the savior of the Jets, although I think GB might have fared ever so slightly better had he and the management not gotten into their little off-season debacle, but by slightly better I'm thinking maybe 9-7 or 8-8 rather than division winner of playoff team. Although at the beginning of the season I thought, they'd be a contender had they managed to keep him without the animosity bread during the retirement/return debacle.

I'm glad everyone is writing the Dolphins off. No they can surprise more people.

I don't expect the Vikings, Steelers, Chargers, Cardinals, or the Dolphins to go all the way and win the Super Bowl. But now the playoffs become a new season and it's anybody's game. Besides the obvious of the Giants and the Titans, I see Carolina and Indy making a strong showing in the upcoming playoffs. But the Dolphins could surprise everybody.

As for Falcons, yes, they can, but not as convinced as Giants or Titans doing it.

Eagles and Ravens are both that I don't expect to go all the way.

So with Falcons-Cardinals, I pick Falcons by a good margin

Eagles-Vikings, tossup

Colts-Chargers, definitely Colts by a huge margin

Ravens-Dolphins, tossup

First to be bumped off the top four with be the Steelers, then Carolina.

Giants and Titans will at least make conference playoff championship games and likely win there.

Though I predicted the Titans to win, I am starting to see some doubts as the Giants may have a big day at the Super Bowl with their running game which the Titans would have to stop early, if it comes down to those number one seeds.

Anyway this is the game that would be fun to watch. I loved it when a team in the '90s contained the Cowboys and Smith. :) This seemed to be the most unlikely event during the Cowboy's '90s dynasty.

Well said.

Though he wouldn't make a huge difference on a Bay Area team, it would be nice to see him in my own backyard. But I think Favre could also do well with the Steelers or Indy, and definitely with the Giants. Give him one more year wherever he ends up, if he even plays next year. His huge yardage is impressive but dulled by a lot of interceptions, especially lately.

When I see someone like Favre fall down, even if it's a small hit, it still scares me since he's 39?/40?. There are times when Montana or Elway would go down on a seemingly small hit and really get banged up toward the end of their respective careers. If he leaves next year with a winning record, that's pretty darn good for someone his age, don't you think?

The owner wants favre back not the GM. What did Mangini ever do to you, well besides keeping the Pats out, so I kinda like the guy.:D

Favre has stayed too long in my opinion
Last year was a great story, and I would have loved to have seen it end in the Superbowl

But the debacle that was the off season put a lot of slime on his legacy for me
I don't think either side handled it particularly well, but I blame Favre for that

He needs to understand that he is not bigger than the game, and it is time to go
He doesn't have a future in broadcasting like others... so he is holding on to all he has
He is forcing his career just like he forces his passes
He is no longer the gunslinger, he is a liability

The only reason Favre is there is to sell jerseys, it has nothing to do with current talent. He has been in the league 3 years longer then he should have.

I disagree. Favre looked quite good once he got a grasp of the offense (games 5-10). I suspect we'll find out his shoulder injury was to blame. This team has a lot of talent and their coaching staff sucked. Offense was plagued with bad play calling and the defense lacked intensity. IMO, these are coaching problems, not player problems.

I say draft a QB in a high round and bring back Favre for one more year to win and teach the kid. The team still is loaded with talent.

Hmmmm, which one of the coaches threw the 3 picks yesterday?
