I can't believe the absolute ignorance of CBS. If anyone was just watching the SEC on CBS they just cut to a clippf the USC/WSU game and commented how it was unsportsmanlike how we were running the score up because it's 69-0. That is utter BS. We took our startig QB out of the game at halftime, have our entire secod string defense in. And are ONLY running it on offense in the second half. What crap. It's that kind of dishonet reprting that gives us a bad reputation.

Wow.

Okay, nevermind about Michigan. Rich Rodriguez is an idiot for pulling Threet backed up in Michigan territory.

Penn and Rodriguez both deserved that safety.

Moron.

You know me - I'm no USC fan, but I couldn't agree with you more. I didn't see the game since I was at work, but if USC was pulling starters at the half - what else can they do? You can't ask the players on the field to give less than 100%. Rest the starters and call conservative plays, but at that point if you still score, you still score. WSU is a horrible, horrible team. That score didn't surprise me at all.

I'm happy, OSU crushed Michigan State 45-7. I bet they will go up in the rankings this week and I now believe we have a chance against Penn State next week!

With all the one loss teams out there - everyone outside of Happy Valley is hoping you're right! :)

you get used to comments like that. I was at Texas Tech and they made big deals about how Tech would just rack up the points.

once game I went to tech pulled it starts for both offense and defense and the other school was still struggling to score. They finally got on in.

Tech response was to put its starters back on the field and do one very quick drive less than 1 min for a score. Then back to 2nd string. They made a big deal how that was unsportman like.

But then again I got thick to it after seeing a lot of games with score ran up like that where they would hit 50 then just go score for score trading. (50 would be hit in the very early in the 3rd quarter if not earlier.)

Texas looks like they deserve the #1 slot.

I'm just happy to see that we could be focused all week and avoid the slump.

But man, even if we win tonight, I just don't see us running through the rest of the schedule unscathed.

MSU has showed a little offense of late. I'll take your assessment and run with it. :)

Looks like your guys were the ones that gave up tonight... not Tennessee :(

I think they got more than a chance. I know PS is tough this year, but the game's in Columbus and the Buckeye's O is starting to roll. The D needs to force a couple of turnovers though, let Beanie and Pryor run the clock, cause PS is putting up a lot of points each week.

And how bout them Terps! They can only beat ranked teams!

Is Jill Arrington still with CBS? Or am I associating her with the wrong network?

Obviously anything can happen on any given weekend, but does Texas look good or what??

McCoy is an animal, but I can't help but wonder if he will finally have that bad game. I say he is absolutely the clear frontrunner for the Heisman.

If Texas plays OK State like they played today then it shouldn't be a problem for them.

Ole Miss at #2 Alabama
Many have this as their upset alert, and it could be
Should be an interesting and fun game
Both coaches have moved from one team to another in the SEC West
Definitely interesting, but only halfway fun. I don't know what on earth they're on about, but the Tide needs to quit treating second halves like it's an after-church pickup game out in Farmer Brown's back forty.

It would probably also help if Saban started making players take a lap for every yard of unnecessary penalty. That's be about 6 miles' worth on Monday.

BYU is the only Top 10 casualty this week as the others hold serve

There were some scares... LSU and Alabama both had lackluster games
Penn State trailed at the half but came on strong

badandy, I wouldn't worry too much about the negative press on USC's throttling of Washington State. It was a no win situation. If you don't win big, you are accused of being unable to finish inferior teams... if you wax them, you are running up the score. Funny... 'Bama was up 31-0 on Georgia at the half and they weren't accused of anything other than being a powerhouse. Same for Texas up 35-0 on Missouri.

I still believe all of the undefeateds have a loss on their schedule somewhere... but it will be hard to find it until it happens.

The Dawgs remaining 5 games are all "winnable"... LSU (not looking so good), Florida (vulnerable as Ole Miss showed), Kentucky (up and down), Auburn (no offense and in disarray), Tech (not ready for prime time and turnover prone). If they run the table, they could get a rematch (redemption?) with 'Bama. Cody is getting an MRI on his knee... so watch that... although preliminary reports are saying no surgery and out a couple of weeks.

I'm still waiting on the Dawgs to put it together and have a complete game... hopefully against LSU and Florida. The past 2 weeks against Tennessee and Vandy we have had a huge edge in yardage, but we have not finished drives. 2 red zone turnovers against the Vols and 2 missed field goals against Vandy. Moreno is running for huge yards, and Stafford's numbers are good, but we don't get the points to show for it.

The next 2 weeks will define the Dawgs' season.

First BCS Poll is out...

Link to ESPN

The first edition of the BCS standings were released Sunday and Texas is No. 1.
Here's a quick look at the top 10.

1. Texas
2. Alabama
3. Penn State
4. Oklahoma
5. USC
6. Oklahoma State
7. Georgia
8. Texas Tech
9. Ohio State
10. Florida

I guess I can't complain... the Dawgs are higher in the BCS than they are in the AP and the USAToday polls,
with the opportunity to climb higher on strength of schedule...if they win ;)

I'm pretty happy with Utah and Boise State at 11 and 12 respectively. I think Utah will have a pretty tough job against TCU, and then BYU will definitely want redemption.

My only concern now is that with TCU's giant leap in to the rankings, if they beat Utah they might leapfrog Boise State.

I would say the top ten is very fair. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens over the next two weeks with Texas playing OK State and Texas Tech.

Oh, yeah! OSU is number nine (back in the top ten where they should be)! If we can beat Penn State this week, then we are right back in this thing because after that, there really isn't any speed bumps to go over to at least the Big Ten Championship and a BCS bowl...

The lack of "speed bumps" as you say indicates your strength of schedule is lacking and it will prevent you from being "right back in this thing". Now, if you are just looking to win the Big 10 and go to a BCS Bowl, then you are probably right... but I don't know if the pollsters will give you another opportunity to be humiliated in the Championship Game... not 3 years in a row.

Stillll not liking the #1 ranking. Sigh....

I feel your pain... because there is a lot of football left to play, although Texas has looked awfully good the past 2 weeks. There is just no room for error.

Yeah ok.... LOL..

A little worried about my Alabama team. They haven't look good in the second half the past couple of games. They are still winning but I would like them to be a little more productive on both defense and offense.

it going to start getting messy for the 4 of the top 10 schools in the coming weeks with the schedule for the big 12 south starting to play each other.

when 4 out of the 6 schools in the big 12 south are all top 10 it just means it is going to be some very good games coming up. I know Texas Tech has a very hard road ahead of it having to face Kansas, Texas, OSU and OU for a 4 week run. The OSU vs Tech game is going to go to Texas Tech as it is a curse with those 2 teams that who ever plays at home is going to win. Been that way for a while now.
