while margin of victory may not be an official part of the polls, the score does leave an impression in the minds of voters whether you like it or not
your utah team is terrible. you play in a terrible conference against terrible teams. do you really want to go to a good bowl game and get embarrassed like hawaii did last year?
If you think your team could compete with bama, florida, texas tech, psu, osu, oklahoma, etc. you are out of your mind.
Then explain why Boise State beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl in one of the most entertaining games I've ever seen on TV a couple of years ago....
excuse me? the MWC is arguably the 3rd best/toughest conference this year following Big 12 and SEC
Do you not remember Utah from 2004 who beat Pittsburgh 35-7 in the Fiesta Bowl?
Lets recap how horrible the MWC is BCS (most recent) wise

+2, and I am a Boise fan.
The funny thing about that game was that Boise controlled the game for arguably three quarters, but our defense got tired and nerves were starting to hurt them. Next thing you know WE have to come from behind in the final two minutes after not trailing the entire game!
Still the best game I've ever watched of any sport.
Of course with that said, I am SO glad we're not having a rematch this year. It wouldn't be pretty. Heh heh.

Also I think Utah could compete (not necessarily win, but compete) with 'Bama, Texas Tech, Penn State and Ohio State. I think Florida and Oklahoma would handle the Utes.

If Oregon State loses to Oregon then USC goes to the Rose, right? If that's the case then what other team makes it in to a BCS game? Ohio State? Any other possibilities? Certainly it wouldn't be another ACC or Big East?
I'm not even considering Boise because I just don't see it happening, but I still hope Oregon beats Oregon State. If nothing else simply because it would help Boise's SOS a bit.
Without a doubt the Boise upstate over Oklahoma was one of the greatest college games I will ever get the chance to see.
I just can't get the Hawaii game from the Sugar Bowl last year off of my mind. To me, Boise beating OU was much more of a fluke than Hawaii losing as bad as they did. It then becomes a question of risking that spot in a BCS game for another team.

Any one else think that the parity between the Big 12 North and the Big 12 South is unbelievable this year? It's as if the Big 12 South should represent both sides of the Big 12 championship game.
I don't think either the Boise or Hawaii games were flukes. Boise was really good in '06, and Hawaii was simply really bad in '07.
Hawaii was insanely over-hyped, and I think a large part of their rank was due to Boise going undefeated the year before and a lot of people (not just Boise fans) saying they should have had a shot at the Title Game. I don't think we had any place in the Championship game.
And Colt Brennan should have never been a Heisman finalist. His receivers at Hawaii is why he looked so good. Those guys were incredible. I've enjoyed watching Bess on Sundays this year. But I can't seem to find Brennan anywhere.
Anyway, my point is to not judge the non-BCS on Hawaii alone, because we're still 2-1 overall.

Agreed man. The jury is still out for me, I'm not judging based only on Hawaii's performance last year. The busters just need to make sure to not have a repeat performance of last year to restore their credibility.
I really hope that some way it works out where we can see USC vs. Utah. I want the smack talking on this board to go nuts over the month of December.
big problem with TT lost saturday is it could easily rune the Big 12 vs SEC for national champain. It is clear this year your best 2 teams are from the Big 12 and SEC.

lol if usc played utah it would be a bloodbath. maybe utah is strong in their little conference and got their undefeated record but that is about it. why do you think all the announcers and analysts laugh when they see utah in the top10?

You'll see, we're not some insignificant weak team, we've beaten more ranked opponents this year than Penn State has, and we're certainly a much tougher team than Penn State is!

they beat Michigan who was ranked 24 at the time
an Air Force Team that was 3-0 at the time played who is now 8-4
an Oregon State team who was 2-2 at time played but is now 8-3 and ranked 17
a New Mexico team that was 4-5
are these really your excuses that Utah isnt good?
dont forget they also beat 12th ranked TCU who was 9-1 at the time that is now 10-2 and ranked 16th as well as a BYU team ranked 14th at time with a 10-1 record (now ranked 14th but were ranked as high as 7th)
they also creamed a decent CSU team (my alma matter) who is 6-6 that gave BYU and TCU a run for the money
give them some credit
also dont forget, Utah has won a BCS bowl game as well in the past. They arent some dinky D1 football program by any means

iowa at the time had the 7th best defense in the country, #1 rusher in the country, and lost their 4games by 12points. they are a good football team.

I'll take a page from your script and say Penn State sucks because they beat Coastal Carolina (who sucks), Syracuse (who sucks), Temple (who sucks), Illinois (who sucks), Purdue (who sucks), Wisconsin (who sucks), Michigan (who sucks), Indiana (who sucks), and Michigan State (who also sucks).
