Congrats to RamblinWreck and the Jackets :(
Paul Johnson has given you a great season and made it a rivalry again

We need a new defensive coordinator... our defense has been abysmal all year. I'm afraid Richt will stay loyal to his guy though. We gave up big play after big play today. Hats off to Tech, but really... we could not tackle. Tech did not drive on us, they just had big play runs. And in the end, we could not keep them from a first down to get the ball back.

It has been a disappointing year to say the least. :(

The good news? We aren't Tennessee or Auburn or even LSU

And gee... Lane Kiffin??
Tennessee looks to be irrelevant for at least 4 years now

Yeah c'mon! The Chan Gailey/Reggie Ball era is over. It was an awesome game and I'm glad the it looks like it's going to be a rivalry game again. It's too bad that Virginia couldn't help us out and get us in the ACC championship game. Never would've guessed both teams would've put up so many points.

Agreed on the defensive coordinator. Dwyer steadily got stuffed up the middle, but it seems like the outside was the open all day long. It seemed as if Georgia was vulnerable on the outside the whole season.

Had a great time in Athens...and after weathering the cold rain for a few hours, I feel like damnit.

The Oregon kicker just got flagged for a horse collar penalty, but he only had his jersey. I didn't think it was a horse-collar if you just have the jersey?

yea Jackets!

lol i love the reversal of stats by the two teams in regards to rushing and passing

You only need 19 passing yards if you run for that many yards. :) That's two 400+ yard running games in a row for us. Let's hope we keep it up.

I think Tennessee panicked when nobody wanted the job and they screwed up. Fulmer to Kiffin? Where is the upgrade in that?

Yeah, I gotta agree with you. I don't know what anyone sees in Kiffen.

And I don't like Tennessee either so, uh, congratulations, Tennessee!

And going from what, #1 to nothing in just two months? You might want to change your icon to something better, like the Detroit Lions or something.

Oregon - 65
OR State - 38

USC goes to the Rose bowl. And Ohio State gets ripped apart by the SEC #2 in the Sugar Bowl.

Go BCS.

Anyway, check out the numbers for the Oregon game...

I've made a decision. I actually LIKE the BSC BS system!

In the "real world" you can lose 2-4 games and still make the playoffs and have a chance at a championship. Each individual game is expendable, not do or die.

I like do or die. I like it that each week a 2 plays at 10 or a 16 plays a 22. I like it when every game is important!

I don't want a playoff! I want the weekly strive for perfection!

In the BCS system you can have 2 losses and play for the championship game but only ore selected teams have that shot. What about Boise St. that goes undefeated and doesn't get a shot to even play against a team with two losses in even a non-championship game?

If Boise played USC, Georgia, Florida or any REAL team you'd have a more compelling argument.

Yes, but you're basically saying they should be allowed a chance to prove themselves mostly because of the conference they are in. Even if they played USC and beat them, all BCS lovers would write that game off as a fluke.

How may "REAL" teams are there, in your opinion? Three? Five?

What about Boston College, or Georgia Tech? Besides Tech's win today over a struggling Georgia, neither of those teams have any real standout victories.

Or how about Cincinnati? They played Oklahoma early in the season and got hammered. Who have they beat?

So these teams deserve a spot in a BCS game over Boise State, or any other deserving non-BCS team?

I have a hard time believing that.

And now we get to see Ohio State go (most likely) to the Sugar Bowl and get beaten to a pulp by the SEC #2 team. Who wants to see Ohio State lose again?? Let's at least have a new team lose! ;)

By the way, one idea I've heard bandied about to make a playoff system truly viable is this:

1. Reduce the number of regular season games to 11.
2. Start the season earlier.
3. Require all conferences to hold a conference championship game, probably in the last weekend of November.
4. Seed eight teams based on the final BCS regular season rankings of #1 to #8.
5. #1 to #4 seeds host games to eliminate four teams in the first weekend in December.
6. On New Year's Day it's #1 versus #4 and #2 versus #3 in two BCS bowl games.
7. One week later, the two survivors play in the championship game.

Under this system, there will be no interference with college final exams, a major contending point for the college presidents against the playoff system.

you know, in my honest opinion, OU is the most dominant team in the country right now and so hot its not even funny.

All you have to look at is the schedule. Only loss to a huge rival that happened to be 5 at the time
Lowest point total: 35
Average score: 53.3-24.8
Average Margin of Victory: 28.5

That schedule is with 5 top 25 teams at time played and Cincinatti is now 16th and going on to a BCS bowl

The title game should be Florida and OU hands down. No I am not an OU fan. All NU and CSU here

Florida has an average gamescore of 46.3-12.25 so margin of victory of 34....but they did lose to an unranked team (Mississippi) at time (now 25 though)

As much as it pains me to say it, OU definitely looks to be the most dominant right now. At least right up there with Florida. That'd be a heck of a title game. Of course, Bama made a pretty good case yesterday - their game with Florida is gonna be a war.

I don't mind if we (Texas) don't go to the title game - this is a team I thought would lose at least five games this season, so I'm pretty happy. I will be kind of bummed if we end up playing Boise St. or Utah. Nothing against either of those teams - they're both exceptionally good, but it'll be a no win situation against them.

I thought a USC rematch would be cool, but Oregon just nipped that one in the bud last night. :(

I agree OU look like the more dominant team but I will root for Mizzou before I root for OU. I still feel like Texas Tech is getting cheated out of a BCS game because they clearly belong in one this year but are going to be cheated out of it due to the rules.

I want OU to lose big time against missouri in the Big 12 game. I much rather see Texas play for NC over OU. Poor sportmanship teams do not deserve that right.

I certainly don't take any offense, because I know exactly where you are coming from. I want Utah to go up against one of the big boys, but it's the smaller teams that can't get any respect because they are always playing teams below them. Even if Utah was better than Texas (I'm not sure how I feel on that one), a win against Utah wouldn't mean diddly.

This post is aimed squarely at evilGeek, but I want to hear SLC Flyfishing and dukebound85 give their input as well.

I read an article about the idea of bringing Boise State into the Mountain West Conference. The article said that a good qualifier game in order to do so would be a bowl match up between Boise State and TCU (and let me tell you, if that game happened I would tune in for sure. That sounds like an excellent game to me).

The question I have is what does every one think about having BSU in the MWC in the future? I think it is an awesome idea. I would love for my running Utes to go up against the Broncos on a regular basis.

But evilGeek, what do you think? Would you like to leave the WAC in favor of the MWC or are you happy where you are?

Not a chance... a true fan lives and dies with the program... warts and all

9-3 with a chance for another 10 win season
Disappointing? Hell yeah... but that is because we expect the best

Like I said... we aren't...

Michigan
Auburn
Clemson
Tennessee
LSU
Notre Dame

... or any number of other programs that would love to be where we are right now.

The Tech game was a huge disappointment for us, but that's football!
Congrats to the Jackets and welcome back to playing football again!
See you on the Flats next year!

First and foremost I will say that probably 9 out of 10 Boise State fans want us out of the WAC. We have absolutely dominated the WAC ever since we joined in 2001. But while some feel a move to the MWC is the way to go, others see that as more of a lateral move.

There are quite a few MWC fans that feel if Boise State did join (giving the conference 10 teams), and a conference championship game was played then perhaps the MWC would get an automatic qualifier bid to a BCS game.

There are also rumors that an invitation has already been sent to Boise State, but everyone is working out logistics before an announcement is actually made.

These are all just rumors and ideas, of course.

Personally I think it would be great to get Boise out of the WAC, and even though the MWC wouldn't be a giant leap, it would still be a move in the right direction. I think a North division (Utah, Air Force, Colorado St., Wyoming, Boise St.) and a South division (TCU, BYU, San Diego St., New Mexico, UNLV) with a Championship Game would be excellent.

I still think Boise State would be an immediate power in the MWC, and very well could still go undefeated. But it wouldn't be a complete domination every year like it is in the WAC.

The other issue that I know is at play with Boise joining the MWC is the awful television deal the MWC has with The MTN. Sure we might have to play on a Wednesday or a couple of Fridays, but Boise State is on ESPN/2 four or five times a year. That's some awesome national exposure not only for the pollsters, but for recruiting.

I feel part of the reason the MWC doesn't seem to get as much national attention is because all of their games are hidden on these no-name networks so no one gets to see them play.

I think the TV deal is the biggest hurdle, and could potentially be a deal-breaker.

But aside from that I think Boise State joining the MWC would be great! Especially if we broke it up between North and South with a Championship Game.

If nothing else it would put to bed all this Boise vs MWC nonsense. Heh.

Join the Pac 10 and upgrade that conference
They are the ones that need to add 2 teams and get a conference championship

Bring Utah with you ;)

Honestly I would be all for that, but I just don't see it happening.

From what I've read, the PAC10 is VERY reluctant to bring anyone else on, although our wrestling team competes in the PAC10. So you never know.

A move to the MWC is more realistic I think.

Although I think a north and south would be great, I don't think you can split Utah and BYU up like that. I don't think anyone (in Utah at least) would stand for it.

Tell me about it. The MTN is so annoying, but I don't want to get into that right now - all it will do is upset me.
