Don't blame the Rays for your crappy bullpen.I hate the ****ing Rays.
Same thing happened at my last (only actually) Yanks/Sawx game. One of the drink-throwing episodes started just a few rows in front of me, and luckily it didn't quite make it back far enough.Last time I went to a Yankee v. Red Sox, beer and fist were thrown. I dont know who started it, probably us.
You know, that's not as funny as it would have sounded in years past.at this point, what about chicago v. chicago?
rays vs. d'backs series would be another great one, 1998 expansion series.
Man, just a single short of the cycle for Pedroia.![]()
You know, that's not as funny as it would have sounded in years past.
you know what really sounds funny, the (san francisco) giants winning the world series
they didn't seem to have an issue, ring-wise, when they were in new york, but it feels like it will take a century for san francisco to get that darn ring
PHOENIX -- Call them the Arizona Brokenbacks.
The D-backs made two major roster moves on Tuesday, as they placed both outfielder Eric Byrnes and catcher Chris Snyder on the 15-day disabled list.
Byrnes strained his left hamstring on Monday night while attempting to steal third base in the second inning. Snyder was hit by a foul ball off the bat of Milwaukee outfielder Corey Hart in the fourth inning. Snyder was diagnosed with a left testicular fracture and will have surgery on Wednesday.
D-backs manager Bob Melvin said he expects Byrnes to be out much longer than just the 15 days. He is hoping Snyder will require just two weeks to recover and will return after the All-Star Game when the D-backs open a three-game series with the Dodgers.
Byrnes may be out the rest of the season, torn hamstring and evaluating the extent the tendon has separated from the bone doesn't sound too good either.
hey, at least byrnes will have more time for his tv and radio shows with his dog, bruin. and btw, he said he rejected going to the dodgers out of high school because he grew up a giants fan. he's weird and is the perfect type for tv booths and the such.
Thanks again, Dusty Freakin' Baker! Six outs away, six lousy outs.
Game 1: Sox 7, Yankees 0
Lester is awesome: 9.0IP, 5H, 0R, 2BB, 8K
it's like a curse
but if you followed the mediocre giants that year, they had absolutely no reason to beat the st. louis cardinals in the nl playoffs that year
while we had barry, they had a whole slew of hitters hitting over .300, the most rbi's, and one of the best pitching staffs in baseball history
i tell you the sf version of the giants are cursed
I thought going into the playoffs in 2002 that, while the Giants didn't have one of their very best teams, none of the competition looked all that strong, either. They made a stirring comeback against the Braves and got some good breaks where formerly they would have gone against them (see Rich Aurelia adjusting to a bad hop grounder that, if he didn't come up with it, would have allowed the Braves to tie or take the lead in game 5). I really started to believe at that point.
The 2002 Cards were kind of a paper tiger. Looked good on paper, but didn't come up big when it counted most, and LaRussa's terrible managing moves also didn't help in that series. Giants beat them in 5, so I wouldn't say that's a fluke result.
Dusty blew it in the World Series, kept on using the exact same pitchers in the exact same situations, so the Angels knew exactly what was coming. Too much faith in Felix "The Original F. Rod" Rodriguez. That, and a freakin' 310-foot home run by Scott Freakin' Spezio... Grrr.
And I wouldn't say the 1989 team was the best SF Giants team at all, as much as I have fond memories of Will The Thrill, Mitch, and Mattie tearing it up (how again is Brett Butler a HoF-caliber player?). I have to vote for the 1993 team with Swift and Burkett winning 20+ games apiece, Thompson, Clark, Williams and Bonds in the heart of the lineup, and a killer bullpen with Rogers, Jackson, and Beck.
Now this could very well be true.
In today's news, Lincecum picks up another win and punches out 8 Cubbies!
Rivera teases them by loading the bases then shuts the door in their face.More play-by-play. We need more play-by-play.
