Rivera teases them by loading the bases then shuts the door in their face.:p

And that my friends is why he is the best there is, the best there ever was, and the best there ever will be.

A little league pitcher could have gotten those 3 outs against Crisp, Tek and Lugo.

This game is on Theo and Tito. Unfortunately because of the black hole of suck at the bottom of the order (Crisp-Tek-Cora), Tito is forced to PH Casey for Cora to lead off the 8th. This forces Lugo in to the bottom of the 8th and takes Casey out of the mix for PH in the 9th.

In the 9th, Drew gets on and then Manny gets HBP. Theo uses his last bat on the bench to PR for Manny. Lowell gets a RBI and then Youk gets HBP, and then the black hole of suck comes up with nobody to PH for any of them (except Kevin Cash, the career .179 hitter). I actually would have preferred to see a ****ing pitcher (Beckett used to bat in the NL) PH for one of them.

If Theo and Tito would just give up on Crisp and Lugo, we would have probably won this game. With Ortiz out and Manny DHing, Moss (hit .500 during Crisp's 5-game suspension) should be in LF with Jacoby in CF. If this is the scenario, you have a better bat in the lineup plus you have the 3rd fastest guy on the team to PR for Manny.

The other thing this team needs to do is make Jed Lowrie the starting shortstop NOW. DFA Alex Cora. He ****ing sucks. He can't hit, he's slow, has mediocre range and isn't that great of a defender. I know it would be hard to move Lugo, so make Lowrie the starter and Lugo the utility infielder. So now at the bottom of the order you have Moss and Lowrie and only one guy who can't hit (Tek). Plus, you have another fast guy off the bench to PR for Manny.

Tek also sucks, but unless there's a blockbuster trade for a catcher, nothing can be done. He was ****ing awful today though. Completely ****ed up that play at the beginning of the game where Drew had Giambi out by a mile but Tek was way out of position.

Ugh.

all star rosters are in. can someone please tell me why varitek is starting? he's awful this season.

btw, rays win again. a yankees win puts them 5 up of the red sox. i'm falling in love with the rays with every win and with my teams going kaput, i'll probably start being a rays homer in this thread...watch out yanks and sox fans, you have big company (i think the yankees and red sox get too much media hype).

he's not starting, mauer is. and he got voted in by the players, not the fans, which makes it even worse. he's ****ing awful.

The all star voting is a sham. Don't let the fans be allowed to vote like its prom king and queen. Base who gets in on how they played the first half of the season and nothing else.

And also do away with the idea that every team needs to be represented. If a player is only on the team by default because every team has to be represented takes away from a great player getting in.

Actually, I would also say that the 2nd half of the previous season should also be considered. In other words, consider the total performance since the previous all-star game.

I agree to a point, but what if a player that was hot last year is bad this season. If this game is supposed to count we should only have the best players. I don't want to see players there because they are on a bad team that has to be represented. Either expand the rosters to allow more players or only select the best.

But on the flip side, any players who get hot in the 2nd half of a season will never get rewarded, but if you get hot in the first half of a season you always get to go to the ASG. Seems a little unfair.

There are a lot of players that got hot within the last month and didn't make the team either. The only solution is to play the all star game like football does at the end of the season.

I guess the question is. What do you want the all-star team to be? A team of the best players, that is, a team of sure-fire HOFers. Or a team made up of players who are currently hot?

You would never get enough current players that are great enough to be hall of famers. The idea of an all star game is to show the most talented players of a current season. So I would take the players that have had the best numbers and build the team around that.

Beckett doesn't like when Joba throws at Youk's head. Let's hope he doesn't pull that **** again.

C.C. Sabathia Traded to Brewers

The Brewers and the Cleveland Indians agreed to a deal for the reigning AL Cy Young on Sunday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The newspaper reports the deal is contingent on paperwork being finished and the exchange of medical records.

Cleveland would get Double-A outfielder Matt LaPorta, who is hitting .288 with 20 homers and 66 RBIs in 84 games for Huntsville, and two other minor leaguers in return, according to the Journal Sentinel. The two other players do not include top prospects Alcides Escobar or Mat Gamel.

Alex Cora was a great defensive second baseman when he was with the Dodgers. Cora-Izturis was probably one of the best middle infields I've ever seen, not that any of you guys would have noticed. Maybe he just got slow after he went to the Red Sox.

He also had one of the greatest at-bats in baseball history. But again...
