I really hate the cubs

Me too.

Not as much as the Yankees and Red Sox though :D

If the world series is Cubs and Red Sox (lets face it, it won't be the Yankees) this lifelong Cardinals fan might have to root for the Cubs. But if it's Cubs and anyone else, then I'm rooting for the other team

am i the only one rooting for the d'backs? i can't believe this MRFB (MacRumors Forum Bias)....

There's no forum bias. You could have chimed in with your D'back love anytime. As IJ said, there aren't that many Dodger fans here, but we make up for it with scathing Juan Pierre hatred. Oh wait, that's only me.

Now maybe people will get off of the mets collapse of last year

Hmm, think the New York media will let the Mets off the hook because the Brewers duplicated their feat? Not likely.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are 12 for their last 13, 4.5 games out in front. As reversals of fortune go, this one is about as stunning as any we've seen recently. Probably only last year's Rockies team compares. Saito came off the DL yesterday. If he can return to form by the end of the regular season, the Dodgers just got a huge postseason lift.

It's really been quite a turn-around. During that eight-game losing streak I was starting to lose hope, but now it's just the opposite. The magic number is now 10. They held Colorado to four runs in three games at Coors Field, which is impressive even when the Rockies are terrible. Still plenty of time for things to go wrong, of course. But I really like the course that they're on now. The one thing in the schedule that concerns me is two series with the Giants, who will be in a spoiler mood.

Arizona is in such a tailspin, it looks all but impossible for them to recover anything more than their dignity. Of course the Giants will be in spoiler mode, but then they did sweep the Diamondbacks last week, which did the Dodgers a huge favor. You've always got to watch out for teams with a grudge and nothing left to lose.

I've got tickets to the final home game of the season next week. I'm hoping it's going to be all closed out by then and will be a big fan celebration of the division title. Next Monday our season ticket club draws postseason tickets...

The Milwaukee Brewers fired manager Ned Yost on Monday in the midst of a late-season slump that has jeopardized the team's chances of making the playoffs for the first time since 1982.

Third-base coach Dale Sveum will become interim manager for the remainder of the season. Bench coach Ted Simmons was reassigned to an advisory role.

Why did MLB choose Milwaukee as the site for the Astros and Cubs to play, how can you call it a neutral site being 2 hours from Chicago.

wow. just wow. I'm shocked. I won't miss him but I'm thinking the players must not have been fighting for him either. I hope it helps but I don't think so.

If this forum has any bias, trust me, it's not for the Dodgers. The forum has only two Dodger fans. All of a sudden, we got some converted Yankee fans who are rooting for the Dodgers now because they'd love to see Manny come back to Boston wearing Dodger blue.

Oy! I take offense to that!

The D-Backs don't seem like a team that could do any damage, they rely on Webb for a lot.

Webb and Haren, and now they have Dunn to add some power (but not average). Can't hurt to have two acknowledged aces in one rotation. I'm not counting the D-backs out quite yet, even though the Dodgers reduced the magic number to nine tonight with a win in Pittsburgh.

Oh, and the much maligned (by some) Juan Pierre hit a home run tonight, his first in over 1,000 at bats. Surprisingly it landed a bunch of rows back into the stands.

D'Oh! I forgot about Haren!

I wouldn't count them out yet either, but your Dodgers have been redonkulously hot as of late. 8-2 in their last 10, while the D'Backs are 2-8. If you can keep that momentum going, you shouldn't have a problem winning the division. Staying hot also helps in the playoffs, just ask the '07 Rockies.

This is the first time I can remember that I won't have anything to watch in October.

Great. :(
Well to be honest, us Yankee fans have not had much to watch the past few post seasons anyways. Just pick a team jump on the wagon and enjoy.

In other news.
Derek Jeter broke Lou Gehrig's record for hits at Yankee Stadium, singling in the first inning against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.

The hit off Gavin Floyd was Jeter's 1,270th in the 85-year-old ballpark, scheduled to close Sunday. It came in Jeter's 8,002nd major league at-bat, passing Gehrig for second on the Yankees' career list behind Mickey Mantle (8,102).

True. But still, there was always the CHANCE they might do something. What is truly sad is missing the playoffs with this being the Stadium's last year. Oh well, I'm just glad I got to watch a few games this season and say goodbye.

I wish I could find a picture of the shirt I bought across from the stadium:

"I have two favorite teams: The Yankees and whoever is playing the Red Sox"

That will be my theme this October. :p

As I've said to my Mets fan friend in the beginning of the season, there will be no post season baseball in NY. The Mets just keep proving me right every single day.

Go Dodgers, Cubbies and Rays.

The Mets are in....second place.

mets are still up 1/2 game on the wild card on the slumping brewers. i would rather see the mets miss again and see the local mets fans go cookoo about another 17 game collapse. one fan suggested making the season 145 games so they don't have to deal with the last games of the collapse.

There is still time for the Red Sox to choke as well.:p

i would love that, as they lost another heartbreaker to the surging rays, who are proving they can play with the big boys. but i think the red sox make the playoffs, the rays and red sox magic number for a playoff spot is 5.

I think the thing that is hurting the brewers so much is that they just tried to make too many changes too quickly this month. They started losing, making all kinds of changes to the lineup after freaking about it, and then the final straw was to kill yost. I dont disagree so much with the yost decision, if anything the timing was off, but I think they should have kept the lineup the way it was producing and waited out the slump. I think making the big lineup changes accelerated the tension in the dugout and created a worried environment in the dugout.

Better than that -- 14 out of the last 16. Magic number, 8.

Some of us have something to watch even if our team doesn't make it.
