Over the past decade as the Fiesta Bowl worked to maintain its elite position as one of the top postseason college-football games, employees made contributions to politicians friendly to the bowl, including some donations that may violate campaign-finance laws.

Past and present Fiesta Bowl employees have told The Arizona Republic they were encouraged to write checks to specific candidates and were reimbursed by the bowl.

Such reimbursement would violate state and federal laws that prohibit funneling corporate campaign contributions through individuals. Participants could be charged with misdemeanors and felonies.

If they were willing to go to these lengths to ensure they remained a part of the BCS, what's to say they didn't select the Separate-but-Equal Bowl (TCU-BSU) to further ingratiate themselves?

I'm hearing rumblings that Missouri might end up in the Big 10. Let's get TCU in the Big 12! :D

Hey, I like TCU. You can't swing a dead cat on that campus without hitting a crazy cute coed. :)

I don't think they have the academics to make it.

Big 10 rankings:
No. 12: Northwestern
No. 27: Michigan
No. 39 (tie): Illinois
No. 39 (tie): Wisconsin
No. 47 (tie): Penn State
No. 53 (tie): Ohio State
No. 61 (tie): Purdue
No. 61 (tie): Minnesota
No. 71 (tie): Indiana
No. 71 (tie): Michigan State
No. 71 (tie): Iowa

candidates:
No. 20: Notre Dame
No. 34: Boston College
No. 47 (tie): Texas
No. 56 (tie): Pittsburgh
No. 58 (tie): Syracuse
No. 66 (tie): Rutgers
No. 88 (tie): Iowa State
No. 96 (tie): Kansas
No. 96 (tie): Nebraska
No. 102 (tie): Missouri
No. 126 (tie): Utah
No. 128: Kentucky

All 11 are in the top75, I doubt they would want to break the trend

TCU doesn't make sense in the Big 12. We already have Baylor.

Notre Dame already told the Big 10 no (again). Boston College is an interesting addition and one that would make sense in a lot of ways. Texas isn't leaving the Big 12. I think Pitt is the most obvious choice.

TCU tends to be much better at football, though. That is the most important thing, right? :)

I don't think BC would be a good fit in the Big 11. Most of the other schools are geographically close to each other, and BC would be way out of the way. Pitt does make sense. Plus, they have a built in rival with Penn State. If they were to leave, I wonder what would be the future of the Big East.

I still think Notre Dame is making a mistake. As I posted before, they are getting $9 mil per year from their football TV contract. Every team in the SEC is getting over $10 mil from the SEC TV contracts. Yes, I realize it isn't all about money, but let's not kid ourselves. Being in a conference would generate more money, and have better bowl tie-ins. Think about how much the other SEC and Big 10 schools are getting due to having two teams in BCS games.

I actually think Notre Dame to the Big East makes more sense.

They're already a member of the Big East in every other sport.

They are already lumped in with the Big East for bowl selection.

Geographically it's not a stretch for them.

I don't see it happening, though. They still seem to think they're bigger than a conference and still refuse to join.

Pitt has no football following.

Only because they've been playing in smaller conferences for the last 13 years. They were as bad a program as existed in the country before the SWC blew up.

Is there not junior colleges in the Big 12 now? :)

Roll Tide

Pretty ironic coming from an Alabaman, no?

Pitt has no football following.

Spoken like a true PSU'er.

The Mountain West Conference is 3-0 in the post season thus far!

Wins against the WAC, and the Pac 10 x 2!

Fun stuff.

SLC

Very good wins for Utah and BYU and a surprise win for Wyoming so far. I don't think Air Force has the horses to stay with UH, but if they can get some defensive stops they might be able to pull it off. Hopefully TCU will take out BSU in the Fiesta. That could be one of the most exciting games of the bowl season.

Wow. 45-10?? Are you kidding me?? It's SMU!! I don't care that two of Nevada's 1,000 yard rushers were out. It's S-M-U!!

We have GOT to get out of the WAC.

I think the MWC taking it to the PAC-10 is awesome. We need to join the MWC and then it would have an automatic bid. There is NO way that they could ignore the MWC with four consistent powerhouses.

It's too bad the MWC will be going 3-2 in Bowl games though. Although I think Air Force does have a bit of a chance, so they could go 4-1.

I can not WAIT for the Fiesta Bowl! I absolutely love the fact that NO ONE is giving us a chance! It's awesome. :) We're going to go down to Glendale and shut everyone up yet again. And it looks like I might actually be going this time! :D

I'm 2-4 on ESPN.com for bowl games. I couldn't believe what happened to Nevada last night! The MWC is looking pretty strong right about now. I had Utah over Cal but I thought Oregon State could beat BYU. To think they were even close to going to face Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. I think Boise State needs to join the Pac-10 were it would be constantly challenged. The Big Ten is looking but just too far away...

I still think both Ohio teams can win against their opponents. Ohio State v. Oregon will be low scoring while Cincinnati v. Florida could see both teams over 40 points a piece. The reason I say this is because I believe the Cincy players are more motivated after the trader known as Brian Kelly jumped ship. I believe anything after seeing these first few bowl games.

Seriously, Kelly a traitor?

How many of these players would jump to the NFL if they had a chance?, and some in fact do

Enough of that mindset please lol

How can one blame a guy for taking a better job? Would you leave yours if you were offered one at your dream location and with muuuuuch more money?

Cincinnati is on the rise because of him and he had the chance to become the face of the program. Much like Tressel and Ohio State. I just hope Cincy's new coach can keep the good times rolling. Can't wait for Cincy and ND to play each other in the future!
