Boise played 1 top25 team before the bowl game, and that was Oregon in the first week of the season. Guarantee if they played them later in the season, it would have been a blowout. And Oregon ended as a 3 loss team

TCU played BYU and Utah wowow conference games, their ooc schedule was terrible.

If you're undefeated, there's no way to tell how good you are because you haven't lost yet. And what's wrong with TCU playing Clemson?

Tell me who the hell Boise or TCU has played. Please tell me cause I know Alabama has played 5-top 25 teams. And yet still has one of the top defenses.

Have a read through this:

The SEC is nation's most overrated conference

I think Alabama is the real deal this year, but the thought that the winner of the SEC is automatically the best team in the nation is ridiculous. The fact of the matter is, the SEC has a losing record to the MWC and Notre Dame and a .500 record to the PAC 10, Big 10, and the Big 12. Most of the SEC's wins come from the ACC and D I-AA schools.

Florida is an excellent example of abusing the "SEC is top dawg" system this year. At home they played Charleston Southern (who?), Troy, Tennessee, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Florida International (you serious?) and Florida State. Away they played Kentucky, LSU (this was legit), Mississippi State, and South Carolina.

That's 7 home games to 4 away games (the rest were neutral site). Even with this terrible schedule, they were seen as the #1 team for pretty much the whole season.

Again, I think Alabama is great this year. I think they'll beat Texas. But I don't respect them just because they are in the SEC.

P.S. The MWC has as many BCS bowl wins as the ACC. The MWC is (2-1) in BCS games and the ACC is (2-11) in BCS games. So much for the conference the SEC has all their wins against.

How can you guarantee that? Oregon got pushed around by mediocre Ohio State team.

Well, well, well

Looks like nothing has changed since last year

Carry on...

Oh, if anyone knows where the Dawgs can get a D-Coordinator, let me know

Woof, Woof - Dawg

How did I know you would belittle the MWC

Quite sad

Sadly, it looks like your former DC is still going to be a Dawg. For some reason, he is the leading candidate to replace our DC, who just left for Kansas. I don't get it. I mean, the dude was fired for a reason ya know.

funny how you like to cite top 25 teams when it suits you but then downplay it when it doesnt:rolleyes:

I think things have been kept pretty civil aside from the obligatory smack talk. ;)

We have an SEC homer trying to convince us (or more likely himself) that the SEC is nearly Godlike, but other than that it's been pretty orderly in here!

....

For the record, I think 'Bama is legit this year too. They've had a couple close games, but like I said, it's extremely difficult to be 100% up for every game. They're just lucky they have the Mountain Man Terrence Cody to block kicks for them. :)

You have no idea.

It's not just the Texas alums you have to deal with. Every yard guy, plumber, gas station attendant and grocery store clerk in the state will be sporting their burnt orange and hooking 'em.

I'm not sure who I'm rooting for this year (though I think Alabama will win it). On one hand, I really don't like Texas and I like Alabama, but at the same time I have a lot of annoying SEC acquaintances I would like to see go down in flames today.

Let's go 'Horns!

I'm harking back to the lead-up to USC where all we heard was how good Leinart and Bush were, and how Texas had no chance. We all know how that turned out and I'm hoping for a repeat tonight!

Texas definitely has a chance tonight because they have a good defense and Jordan Shipley, but I think the lack of a running game will do them in.

Vince Young > Colt McCoy
Jamaal Charles/Ramonce Taylor > any '09 Texas RB

What, is living in Texas going to be too much to bear if 'bama loses?

Yes.

This.

There are a handful of Texas alumni, a bunch of "ex-students" (my wife included) who either graduated elsewhere or did not graduate at all, and a whole BUNCH of bandwagon jumpers. I even saw it to a point last year when Tech was having a great year.

Speaking of which, how long did the lost bet obligate you to have that nonsense as your signature?

:) Does anyone know if Postgrads studying at US Universties can join the football teams?

I play rugby for my Undergraduate University which is Top 12-15 in the UK and the best for Sports, have also tried playing American Football and I'm quite good.

Thanks

The original deal was "the end of the season." dmr727 has actually let me off the hook already, but I won't welch on a bet. I'll change it after the game tonight. ;)

As far as I'm aware, as long as you're a student in good standing at the U.S. university and have athletic eligibility remaining, I don't see why not. If you weren't recruited to play, you would have to "walk-on," which basically means try out for the team.

There are certain rules for eligibility, but yes, post-grads can play as long as they meet the requirements.

If you've never played the game in an organized environment then your chances of making a college team are very, very slim. But go for it if you want to, and good luck.
