You have no idea.

It's not just the Texas alums you have to deal with. Every yard guy, plumber, gas station attendant and grocery store clerk in the state will be sporting their burnt orange and hooking 'em.

Alabama fans are worse. Their answer for any criticism of the program is "12 national championships!". They get really irate when you mention that 4 of them were awarded retroactively. In fact, one of the "championship" years, 1941, had three other SEC schools ranked ahead of them, and they didn't even win the conference.

Alabama alums aren't as bad, but it's the backwoods redneck fans who barely (if at all) graduated high school who drive me crazy. We have the same problem with Ole Miss. My hatred of Alabama was sealed while I was still in college. We had played them at home, and as often happened, lost a close game. I was walking back to my dorm room, dejected, when this boy around 9-10 years old hangs out of this car window and yells "ROLL TIDE! WE JUST WHUPPED YER ASS AGAIN!" I'm not one to advocate child abuse, but at that moment, I really wanted to practice some severe abuse. Alabama fans are probably second on my list of hated fanbase. LSU is in a world of their own.

On the other hand, I really don't care for Texas, either. We played them two years in a row in the early 90s, and I wasn't really thrilled with the way their fans acted toward us. Especially after Jackie Sherrill found a way to beat them both times. :)

I hate to say it, but I think this is gonna be a long day for the Horns. Our D will keep us in it (I hope), but like Ignatius said, the lack of any real running game will ultimately doom us.

That is possible, but remember last year
Alabama lost the SEC Championship and felt they had nothing to play for
This year Alabama won the SEC Championship and feels like that was the NC

I think it will be a good game
My son in law is a Bama fan, so I will lean that way with the SEC

I am just glad the Gators didn't make it
I hate the Gators™

God I loved Sherrill when he was at A&M.

His motivational "speech" (see #1 on this list) before the 1992 Miss. St.-Texas game was greatness. Texas fans were so up in arms about it, but the rest of us just thought it was hilarious.

I loved it when he did that. I was a student on campus at the time, and we loved it. I can't believe they put that at #1 because the whole thing got blown way out of proportion. The students at the vet school on campus were already going to castrate the bull. Sherrill just asked the vet school folks if he could let the team watch them do it, and they agreed.

That makes two of us. I can't stand them. Hate them with a passion......

Let's hope the boys in red show up to play tonight!

Roll Tide!!!

Haha. If that Texas player would have batted the ball down instead of intercepting it, they would have had the ball at the 10 instead of the 30.

i have strong texas ties but for some reason i want alabama to pull through... whats happening to me...

Well this is over. McCoy has to be one of the most fragile players I've ever seen. He barely even got hit.

When that 300lb guy intercepted, he completely absorbed that guys attempted tackle and blew through the rest (i don't know names obviously...)! i was impressed :D

Fragile? He's been nothing but the definition of durable during his career at UT

WTF was with Bama's fake punt early in the game

We ain't playing Madden

What a crappy game. I was looking forward to a good battle and this game was over within the first 5 minutes.

In the immortal words of Lee Corso: Not so fast, my friend! Texas is showing some fight, but I wonder if it is too little, too late.

Edit: Of course, as soon as a wrote that, Texas fumbles inside their own 10 yard line. Game, set, match, Alabama.

I was surprised they came back. That showed a lot. I think if Colt hadn't been hurt this is a Texas victory.

What a classy interview by Colt McCoy after the game
Represented himself and Texas extremely well and was gracious to Alabama

If it had been Tebow, he would have been crying like a baby
And the announcers/reporters would have been focused on him all game

I agree completely. My respect for McCoy just jumped a few notches.

Well, I guess Bama fans are going to be even more insufferable now. And I'm still convinced that Nick Saban sold his soul to the devil to be this good of a coach.

As a side note, one of these years I want to see somebody fumble that big crystal football trophy. I would find that amusing, especially if it was a sure handed running back or receiver.

Edit: I also agree about McCoy. Great interview. I really liked the guy and feel sorry for him.

Uh, no. Might want to do your homework there.

I actually thought Saban crapped the bed in this game. His team was up 24-6 and laid an egg in the second half. Bama didn't show any of the killer instinct they showed against Florida and played scared through most the of third and fourth quarters.

Predictions:
1. Bama
2. Florida
3. Boise State
4. Ohio State
5. Texas

I just think that the way Florida ran over Cincinnati is a double-whammy to Boise State. Florida embarrassed Cincinnati. The score might have been "run up," but it was clear that there was a huge gap and then Boise barely beats TCU in a game that was rather sloppy between two schools from non-major conferences. I also suspect that Nebraska's 33-0 shutout will catapult them perhaps the highest of the ranked teams, especially given how well their defense handled Texas with McCoy under center.

Be interesting to hear everyone else's predictions, especially "the regulars."

I don't think Texas drops all the way to #5 after they played Bama that close with a backup, freshman QB. My guess would be:

1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Texas
4. Boise State
5. Ohio State
6. Iowa
7. Penn State
8. Virginia Tech
9. TCU
10. Cincinnati

Nebraska will definitely be top-10 to start next year, but I don't think they crack it this time.

Welp, that sucked. But I've gotta give credit to Alabama - you guys beat us straight up, and played a great game. rhett7660, congrats man. Do your worst - I can take it. ;)

I feel bad for Colt - that's a crappy way for him to end his career. But I'm proud of the Horns. They could have packed it in, but fought to the end. Next year.

Congrats again to Alabama - the 2009 National Champions.
