I'd much rather see your polls then mine, but iThink OSU will get love just because they are The Ohio State and Boise State will get the nod just because they are undefeated and people don't want to hear them cry...

I have a problem with where Cincinnati is on your list though, they got embarrassed. Florida broke 50 three times the entire year prior to the bowl game, those teams were: Charleston Southern, Troy and FIU. With the exception of an inconsistent South Florida team, the other two of Cincinnati's ranked opponents (West Virginia and Pitt) they beat by a combined four points.

I don't know how good Nebraska will be next year, but I could see them jumping ten spots. I believe that they will jump higher then any other team that is currently ranked.

Welp, that sucked. But I've gotta give credit to Alabama - you guys beat us straight up, and played a great game. rhett7660, congrats man. Do your worst - I can take it. ;)

I feel bad for Colt - that's a crappy way for him to end his career. But I'm proud of the Horns. They could have packed it in, but fought to the end. Next year.

Congrats again to Alabama - the 2009 National Champions.

I don't know about straight up at all. You didn't have your Heisman candidate quarterback and had to go with a freshman who took, what, 26 snaps in his career? And he's put into the national title game like that?

Congrats to Alabama though but there really should be an asterisk. :p

Go watch the last two games that each team played if you think an asterisk should even be discussed.

I strongly dislike Tebow and don't know why I am suddenly turning into a Nebraska supporter.

Something we've waited 17 years for...

THIRTEEN!
bilde

Congrats, guys. You earned it.

After the game the local Academy Sports opened up after hours to start selling UA BCS apparel and whatnot. We left right after the game, and the line was from the door halfway down the building. When we got out of there, the line was all the way to the corner of the building and halfway down the other side, and it's freezing cold here tonight.

Uh, no. Might want to do your homework there.

I actually thought Saban crapped the bed in this game. His team was up 24-6 and laid an egg in the second half. Bama didn't show any of the killer instinct they showed against Florida and played scared through most the of third and fourth quarters.

McCoy isn't Brett Favre, but he has been pretty durable this year. I recall him missing a couple of games last year, though.

Saban did have a few WTF?? moments in this game, especially the fake punt. That sounds like something Miles would pull. I was also surprised he went conservative so early. The two TDs to Shipley were more on players than the scheme, though. One was a blown coverage, and another was a missed tackle. But I still think he went too conservative too early, on both sides of the ball.

Maybe you're right, but I just don't see the pollsters dropping Cincinnati more than seven spots after losing to a team who was ranked #1 the entire season.

I feel bad for Colt - that's a crappy way for him to end his career.

My feelings exactly. He handled the media well and said all the right things when the game was over, but you know he's hurting inside. I mean you spend your entire college career focused on one goal. You come back your senior year to have a final shot at a title and you accomplish a perfect season that puts you in the Championship game. Then, on what looked like a simple hit, your out on the first drive. C'mon, that's the epitome of "the agony of defeat". It's worse than playing and losing, because you will always have "what if" thoughts rolling around in the back of your head. I'm sure he'll do well in the draft and he has a shot at a good pro career, but this will always be a sore spot for him I'm sure. At least it would be for me if I was in his shoes.

It's not that he hasn't played a lot, it's just that he's had a history of weird, seemingly minor injuries that have later been blamed for his poor play. Or how every time he played poorly early this year, we found out weeks later that he was actually "sick" during the game.

When I said Saban laid an egg, I was more talking about the team's overall performance in the second half. The offense played scared the entire second half, and the playcalling on offense was way too conservative. I guess he thought the freshman QB was going to give him the game if he waited long enough, but it almost didn't happen because the Bama offense was so conservative. And why not put Ingram back into the game earlier?

Just a lame performance by the Alabama coaches, in my opinion, but they got away with it and that's all that really matters at this point.

What a classy interview by Colt McCoy after the game
Represented himself and Texas extremely well and was gracious to Alabama

If it had been Tebow, he would have been crying like a baby
And the announcers/reporters would have been focused on him all game

I agree completely. My respect for McCoy just jumped a few notches.

Completely agree here.

I agree with my wife on this point: he was faced with one of the most asinine post-game interview questions of all time by Lisa Salters. Paraphrasing, she said, "Colt, what did it feel like to stand helplessly on the sideline while your backup pissed away your only shot at a National Championship?"

And under those circumstances, he was at a loss for words (who wouldn't be?), but he showed a level of grace you don't often see from an athlete, let alone a youngster like himself.

Kudos to Colt McCoy.

Apparently Ingram had severe cramps in his calves or something
He was definitely in pain, and he would likely not have returned at all if the game had not tightened up

Yeah he was in pain, but he was also clearly able to go when he had to. If that "had to" had come a little earlier, the game might not have ever gotten as close as it did.

Yeah, that was a tough break for McCoy and the Horns.

No there shouldn't. Injuries are part of the game and if your backup can't handle it, then that is just too bad.

Well said, and I agree completely.

Uh, no. Might want to do your homework there.

I did... and once again....he is not a fragile qb

The fact that he is also the winningest qb in NCAA history speaks to his durability

He played:

all 13 games as freshman
all 13 games as sophmore
all 13 games as junior ( though 1 game was postponed)
all 14 games as a senior...until the last game where he got injured after like 5 plays last night

He was injured during his freshman year (against Kansas State) but didnt miss any games from it and injured again last night. Those are the only major injuries that he had that prevented him from getting substantial passing attempts

Now, what were you saying? I guess I am confused on what you think is considered "durable"

I agree completely. Very classy. Don't even get me started on Tebow. I don't want to be put in time out again.

Well another season of collage football is done. Let the trash taking begin for next season.

At least I can say, ROLL TIDE ROLL. It sucks for Texas thou. I wish McCoy didn't get hurt so that I won't have to listen to, they would of lost if he was playing etc etc etc etc. But so goes the game. I mean if we lost Ingram, we still had a good running game. Heck the backup had a longer run and was up in rushing yards at one point!! But oh well. We still won!

Don't worry I won't rub it in. Congrats to the longhorns thou. They had a hell of season.

ROLL TIDE!

Looks like Pete Carroll is going to bail on USC and let the NCAA clean up the mess there

Holy crap - I didn't know anything about the Pete Carroll situation until you just mentioned it. I remember making the comment last night that he looked odd sitting at the Game Day booth in a black suit. I'm so used to seeing him in USC colors.

EDIT: Here's an interesting article about Colt. It kind of explains why he couldn't play. Actually, it's pretty sad. What a horrible way for his career to end.

We will not speak of this!

We'll see. Aren't there reports of Carroll jumping ship just about every year? A lot of them probably originate somewhere in Westwood. ;)

Agreed, there as many rumors of Carroll leaving USC as there are of an Apple tablet. I'll believe both of them when I see them.:p

The difference this time is all of the NCAA violations and carnage in the program

Time to get out and let others clean it up and suffer the consequences while he enjoys a lucrative NFL contract

Woof, Woof - Dawg

Is it really that bad? I know about the Reggie Bush situation, but that's not a case of the school or staff being involved, so I'd imagine worse case USC has to forfeit some wins (which doesn't strike me as that big a deal).
