How about this from Gonzales tonight then?!

Now that's what's what I call a shot!

I've tuned in to USA El Salvador as well, USA B- have had a few pretty good chances so far. I know Conor Casey scored those big goals against Honduras, and he's decent in the air, but my god he is slow. Sacha Kljestan is still a donkey as well. Having said that, they'll both score in the second half I'm sure....

Sasha had a clear shot; could have chipped it in but decided for the light touch....but El Salvador's goalkeeper has had good saves.

Forget him – Bullard's back, as this slightly poor quality video taken at last night's reserve match against Wigan Athletic proves.

Nice commentary on that video. :D

Kljestan's duffed it several times, he should have done better on the opportunity you mention, though he was getting tacked from the right - but he hit it too lightly, when a driven ball would have been more dangerous...

agreed.....but on the other hand in the great voice of andres cantor....

"GOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

1-0.......the salvadorian forward couldn't believe it....:D

USA needs to take the game serious...now.. i have seen more than 5 shots on target already by USA....but the salvadorian keeper is a good one....

USA 2-1 El Salvador.....

Sasha K. finished it with 92 minute goal....

Good Match at the end....

but it was a good offensive attack by the USA that kept putting pressure on El Salvador's Keeper...

And as I predicted, Kljestan, who looked like a donkey for 80 minutes, scored the winner after Ching equalized for us with a good header. I'm still not sold on Kljestan, he seems too inconsistent.

The 2-1 final scoreline still flatters the El Salvadorans, we bombarded their goal for most of the match but our finishing was just off tonight. The El Salvadoran keeper made a string of solid saves as well. If Dempsey, Donovan or Altidore had been available we would have had 3 or 4. Robbie Rogers and Eddie Gaven looked good, I think one of them will probably make it to the World Cup.

USA still has a paucity of forwards. Of our options tonight, Ching was the best, and while he's solid he's not going to scare the big teams at the World Cup. Cunningham is too old, and Findley is still a work in progress. Conor Casey is about as fast as a farm tractor.

EDIT: I've been hearing ominous rumors that the negotiations for MLS's CBA are not going well, and that a strike is now being considered after the latest deadline extension expires Thursday. I'm hoping they are just rumors... :(

Agreed, if it was Donovan or Altidore it would have been a 2-0 in the first half! already...

Sad, that the MLS might go on strike......

I found this quite funny on http://goal.com/en-us/news/1110/maj...ys-musings-tension-mounts-as-mls-cba-deadline

I'm 44 years old & go back to the Cosmos. A strike now would be a disaster. I feel for the players, but, realistically, 60% of the guys in MLS would not be able to make it elsewhere & they don't seem to realize it. The league may not be perfect but it's ours. Let's find a compromise.

I think that poster was a bit harsh, but it is true that MLS isn't like Serie A, where pretty much every player could easily find a spot in a first or second division club if they had to go elsewhere.

More importantly than that, we are trying hard to grow this league and grow the sport, and a strike could set us back years. I think both sides in the argument have valid points to make, but I tend to lean towards the players' side slightly.

Regardless, they need to find middle ground, and soon.

It seems Terry and Cashley might have combined to deal a massive blow to England's World Cup hopes

England seem to be on an incredible self-destructive downward spiral. Quick, nobody mention metatarsal!

I'm wondering if Bridge's statement is a ploy to get sympathy and Terry kicked out of the team?

Now I know the players are responsible for their own actions, but I can't help but think the media in their quest to sell papers are bringing about this downfall. Surely winning the world cup would sell more papers and these stories can wait until afterwards? Reminds me of the 'dentist chair' incident(s) running up to Euro '96...

Is it just us English that love to crucify our own players in public?

To be fair though, I can understand Wayne Bridge's position, I don't think I'd want to get within punching range of Terry for fear of what I'd do. Better making headlines by withdrawing than making headlines kicking the **** out of him, then it really WOULD give the papers something to write about

About the only happy person right now is Leighton Baines.

Hmm.

That is epic.

Re: the whole back four England crisis....

First off, speaking as a USA supporter, I'm loving it. ;)

But secondly, I really feel like this is immaturity on the part of the players. They have a job to do, on the world's biggest stage, and I think they should try to put even so serious an incident as this behind them - at least when it comes to playing for England. They don't have to kiss and make up, but they are just shooting themselves in the foot with this.

When USA has the infidelity problems without captain (and he was booted off the squad) prior to France '98, it destroyed the team and we had a miserable tournament.

Capello has a real job to do now.

Thing is ,to play well as part of a team they have to get along to a certain degree, and Terry's indiscretion is in the public domain, which is only going to make things worse as they're just going to get hounded by the press. I think it also shows a maturity on Bridge's part. He's been publicly humiliated by an England team mate, knows he can't focus on the job, so has done the honourable thing and stood down.
Things may change in 3 months time but Bridge's wounds will still be pretty sore

Yeah, I suppose I can understand that. The press will run away with it but I doubt Capello will allow it to get out of control. Terry seems unfazed by it anyway.

An unconvincing win for Liverpool in the Europa League against unconvincing opposition, though we did at least attack and scored a few good goals. Might Rafa be tempted by his love for knockout competitions to take risks in the Premier League in order to try and win the Europa League?

I won't complain about winning silverware, but if we miss out on fourth people will be angry - though if we win the Europa League we're in the CL anyway, and snatch a piece of silverware...

The BBC said:
Steven Gerrard's goal for Liverpool earlier means he has now scored 33 European goals, breaking Alan Shearer's record of 32 and becoming the highest English goalscorer in European competions[sic].

One for the stat gurus.

EDIT: Two notable Europa League results: Fulham are through, and Roma, who've been winning domestically, are beaten by Panathinaikos, which is a bit shocking.

Great win for Fulham! They were under the cosh for most of the game yet somehow managed to score AND to hold on to the lead

Finished with ten men too, sounds like a harsh straight red on Murphy.

It's also worth mentioning that Shakhtar Donetsk, the team they defeated, are last season's UEFA Cup champions.

He did kick out at the guy, not much contact but still... Seen them given, seen them not given. There was no need to kick out, the game was almost over and the challenge was next to the opposition's corner flag
