Vieira coming back?

I woke to see the news that Wenger is trying to get him back? Is that the news over there as well? If so, how do my fellow Arsenal supporters feel about this?

So I suppose it makes sense that Arsenal aren't buying either - except that, since they just sold Ade and Toure (for a total rumored to be in excess of 40 million pounds), one would think they'd be able to afford at least one new quality player?

Remember though that they spent something like 17 million pounds on Arshavin in January and another 10 million on Vermaelen, maybe they are just recouping those expenses. I'm not sure how much of that 40 million is really available.

Good point - perhaps they'd planned to sell players all along to get some of that money back.

I'm not an Arsenal supporter, but from a neutral standpoint I think it would be a mistake. He's not the player he once was, and I think Wenger would be well advised to look elsewhere.

I feel it's bollocks. I also feel Hangeland rumours are lazy journalism and bollocks.

EDIT: Denilson and Fabregas or Song and Fabregas in the middle just makes me cringe.. needs to be sorted out. Ugh.

Lazy journalism? At this time of year? Surely not! The press put a lot of work into collating the transfer gossip for us to pick over...

  • Select a Premier League team at random
  • Select a European top flight club at random – or, if you're feeling adventurous, a top half Championship side
  • Select a player at random from said European top flight club or top half Championship side
  • Suggest said player is a transfer target of randomly selected Premier League club. When it doesn't happen, either never mention it again or state obliquely that 'talks are understood to have broken down'
Easy as that and twice as simple. ;)

Using this method, I can tell you that Wenger is looking to bolster his midfield by signing Borussia Dortmund's Markus Feulner.

More Kits:

Manchester City are going to look splendid this season, that much is clear.

Meanwhile, back to transfer news – today, we won't be signing Darren Bent.

I know this because he's apparently said he doesn't want to come here as part of a foul-mouthed Twitter rant directed towards Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy...

Darren Bent said:
Do I wanna go Hull City NO. Do I wanna go stoke NO do I wanna go sunderland YES so stop f****** around, Levy.
However, fair play to the gutter-gobbed goal botherer – he's got our name right. Sky and BBC, please take note. :p

Check the Sun tomorrow, that'll be in there...

Wenger will be "swooping" to get him. Prepared to use his "warchest".

Yeah, I would agree with that.

Choose any club, choose any player, create a transfer story.

Onto more serious matters, and some very sad news – Sir Bobby Robson has died at the age of 76.

He'd been battling cancer for many years of course – being diagnosed with the condition on five separate occasions – but it's finally caught up with the former England manager. I saw him on the TV last week at a charity match for his cancer charity, and the poor guy was almost unrecognisable.

Sheffield Wednesday... A.C.Milan... Ronaldhino... is a transfer target of S.W.F.C. ... Talks are understood to have broken down...

In other news...

WOW! That does work. For a moment i really believed it! Well done Jaffa!

I hope it's an 'audacious bid' by the 'Emirates outfit' to 'land the highly rated player'.

Actually, I've been toying with the idea of making up a spurious transfer story, posting it on a couple of forums and seeing if it gets picked up on... :p

He said pick any Premier League team. :p
No, no – pachyderm can use the same system, but he has to go with a League Two or Serie C club rather than a European top flight one. ;)

This upcoming season really has produced some extremely nice kits and extremely ugly ones
They seem to veer between either highly fantastic or rather rubbish, with little middle ground. As I've said before, a number of manufacturers really seem to be going down the retro route with new shirts, which generally is a good thing.

I say 'generally' because, as Everton have unfortunately proved, it doesn't always work.

A fine shirt – I'm sure you'll look very smart. Just be careful you don't rip it on your tusks when you pop it on. ;)

Anyway, a couple of weeks back you may remember swiftaw posted a link to an ESPN article lambasting Phil Brown for his lack of signings. Apparently, the reason no one had signed for us was because he told his players off at Man City and sang with the fans after we played Manchester United – and the article went on to suggest he should be a bit more like that nice Mr Pulis at Stoke City.

Well, that nice Mr Pulis has been having a moan that no bugger wants to sign for him. I blame Phil Brown. :D

Well done pachyderm, twenty bucks for a shirt is damned cheap. My Liverpool shirt cost more than five times as much. (serves me right for getting a name on the back).

I blame Phil Brown. :D

I blame Pulis' baseball cap which, despite my being American, looks bizarrely out of place in European football.

Maybe if Mr. Brown asks very nicely, Deano will come back and save the season for you. ;)
