Hull is preparing to make £6.5 million bid for Jozy Altidore, according to reports. They may have to fend off competition from Everton and Fulham, however. The EPL would be a good fit for him.

I heard that rumour yesterday, but as of yet nothing concrete. Mind, Brown and Duffen have been strangely quiet since they arrived back from Beijing, an indication hopefully that they're working on some signings.

Indeed, I'm pretty sure I scored in that game. :D
I don't believe that for a moment, because if you had we'd probably have tried to sign you. :p

WOW!! Good luck to Hull and Jozy. I really wanted Wednesday to get him though... not that there was ever any chance of that... :)

If Everton and Fulham are also in for the lad we'll face a stern challenge to sign him. The chance to compete in Europe is a huge carrot to players – especially with a World Cup at the end of the season – and that's something we can't offer that those other two clubs can.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed... peharps if you bought two more season tickets...?

Er... who for? His mam and dad?

On that subject, I know his parents are called Joseph and Giselle and they were both born in Haiti. The interest I've just shown in his family is a clear indication that we're a caring, family club, and coming here would make him feel all fuzzy and cozy and happy.

Forget Everton and Fulham, we're clearly the sort of club that would look after this promising young star. You're American as well pachyderm, have a word and sort it out.

Xabi Alonso is reportedly on his way to Real Madrid. Am i the only one who thinks this guy would've been brilliant alongside Fabregas?

he he.. I just menat buy two more in general so the club could have more financing. ;)

Check yer PM box.

I doubt very seriously that any Wendies do that.
As do I. far better things to spend their hard earned coin on, I would wager. ;)

Meanwhile, rumours abound that we're on the verge of signing Stoke's Nigerian midfielder Seyi Olofinjana. Expect him to request 48 hours to consider his move before deciding to go elsewhere in a fortnight's time.

EDIT: Now, all this transfer speculation is just getting silly. Cardiff's Ross McCormack is another name we've strongly been linked with – but will we sign him or not? Bizarrely, Sky Sports are edging their bets by today running two contradictory stories, links to both appearing alongside each other on their website.

McCormack reiterates Tigers interest
"I would definitely be interested, Hull are in the Premier League... When you're a young boy all you want to do is play in the Premier League, so if a club wants to give you that chance then it would be hard to turn down."

Angry McCormack 'happy' at Cardiff
"Everyone seems to think I don't care about Cardiff and I want to leave, but that's not the case. I'm happy here, so is my fiancee, and we're looking for a new house... The fans here have been brilliant and it's killing me they are reacting as if I want to leave as soon as I can. I'm happy and not planning to go anywhere. "

Nice to have that cleared up, then.

He'll be more brilliant in Real with Kaka and CR9.

Xabi is a brilliant player and has served Liverpool well. That said in all honesty last season wasn't his greatest, there would be games where his passing went adrift and he gave the ball away far far too easily. Personally £30 million is too much but when this summers big spenders are after a player they probably have to pay at least 5 million over the top.

Gerrad, Alonso and Mascherano made for a brilliant midfield. There are a few players currently in the squad who could make for a semi decent replacement but need a few years to mature into that role. I hope the money could go for a decent replacement.

All the best Xabi.

I'm glad silly season is ending, I can't stand the utter crap the media talk over the transfer window.

I agree about Xabi not worth 30m and some of it may be related to this summer inflation but i also think it has to do with Liverpool jacking up the price to keep him, don't forget that last summer they were asking for 15m (even 13m at one point). Last season was definitely not one to remember for Xabi, especially when you compare him to Gerrad who was in top form, but you can't really blame him if his heart wasn't in the game given the whole Rafa-Barry situation.

Having watched Real's pre-season, I'm convinced that he's exactly what they need, the last jigsaw piece, and I'm confident he'll have his best season yet partially because, and no disrespect to Liver, he'll be surrounded by much better players but also because Guti and Gago can't pass for sh*t atm.

Does this leave Liverpool weaker? Yes, of course, (even tho Rafa will probably blow all the money on a questionable, last minute signing) but i genuinely believe that even with Xabi still around they wouldn't have mounted the same challenge they did last season. Just my humble opinion..
