Keeping an eye on the international games, John Carew sounds like an absolute monster based on the way he's tearing the Scottish defense apart...

Takes place tonight straight after the action at Coventry City, Macclesfield Town and Nottingham Forest.
Ah, splendid – thanks for letting me know. Mind, I'm not at all in favour of seeding cup competitions but am willing to turn a blind eye to this if we get an exciting home draw against Accrington Stanley. :)

As John Terry begins discussing South Africa[/URL] (what on earth happened to his hair there?), what is the mood from you locals over there about England's chances?
My feeling is the same as any tournament (well, at least those we qualify for ) – we have a decent chance. We won't be the best team there by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm certainly not one of those who thinks we have a God-given right to win anything, but we have a chance – assuming we do qualify of course, and we're so close that you can almost hear the vuvuzelas

I think our two biggest obstacles to overcome, the opposition aside, will be the climate and our likely lack of strength in depth.

Scotland hammered, England behind after a howler, Wales behind...only Northern Ireland seems to have brought it for the Home Nations today so far...

By the way, shame on the BBC for not even mentioning the USA-Mexico qualifier that is just half an hour from kickoff...:(

I'm going to be taking a 'long lunch' today for sure. :)

They might mention it when Jozy gets a hat trick. :)

From your lips to God's ear. Regardless of the result, I want to see USA score a couple.

Oh, and giving the Dutch opportunities to score on a plate? I wouldn't recommend that.

Yes, those boys are unlikely to miss. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I can hear Capello shouting all the way over here in America. Lets see what the second half brings.

Defoooooooooooooe!
Great vision by Lampard, fantastic finish (if not a little lucky)

I think I would have started Carrick myself...and I hadn't even noticed that SWP was in the squad!

Game on in Holland.

EDIT: They're just about to get underway in Mexico City...Azteca has to be the most intimidating atmosphere I've ever seen...over 100,000 Mexico fans screaming bloody murder. Come on USA!!!!

EDIT 2: Charlie Davies scores for USA in the 9th minute!!! The dream is alive!....and the Mexicans equalize in the 20th minute...bugger.

That's only the second goal scored there by us in 25 years!

And he's only the fourth USA player ever to score in Mexico.

Right now Mexico has better possession, USA needs to tighten things up a little. Going into half time 1-1 is still a good result - USA has a 0-22-1 record in Mexico...I suspect Altidore will come on in the second half, and possibly a new center back, since both DeMerit and Onyewu have gotten themselves booked.

It's gotten ugly. Something of a brawl as several players from both sides start pushing each other around, but no cards. Mexico still shading things but USA is still playing well. Ref simply will not call fouls on the Mexicans. Altidore on. Less than 15 minutes to go.

EDIT: Mexio 2-1 USA on a late goal. Absolutely gutted. Maybe I am biased in the heat of the moment, but I think the ref was a disgrace. Mexico should have finished that game with 10 or even 9 men. At one point a Mexican player ran up and shoved Tim Howard and the ref did not even reach for his pocket. USA played well but tired at the 7000 foot altitude. Mexico now 23-0-1 in Azteca against the Americans. :(

Urgh, I Tivo'ed the game while I was off at work. I could only "watch" live via a game tracker, and it seemed the US lost their way almost immediately after scoring their goal. More poor personnel selections and tactics from Bradley. When the US eventually gets around to firing him, I just hope Klinsmann is still available and willing to take the job.

And hey - the Faroe Islands gave France a pretty tough game.
