League Cup 3rd Round Draw:

Arsenal v West Brom
Chelsea v QPR
Bolton v West Ham
Barnsley v Burnley
Hull City v Everton
Leeds Utd v Liverpool
Manchester United v Wolves
Manchester City v Fulham
Sunderland v Birmingham City
Peterborough v Newcastle
Carlisle Utd v Portsmouth
Nottingham Forest v Blackburn Rovers
Stoke City v Blackpool
Scunthorpe v Port Vale
Preston v Tottenham Hotspur
Aston Villa v Cardiff

Some tasty ties there.

Hardly a convincing win for Liverpool. I'll take the three points, but at the moment we look like a 5th or 6th place side. Hopefully we will improve as the season progresses.

Looks like the bad luck Celtic had against Arsenal in the CL has followed the Gunners home. United will savor the victory but they got lucky...

Yeah, it's a shame. Arsenal were by far the better side throughout the game. Particularly in the 1st half.

Oh well, that's football!

Once again Arsenal outplay Man Utd yet somehow conspire to lose. Although the match did give us this great image:

Wenger to get sending off apology

In other news, sadly for Spurs (and the Premier League) their wonderful playmaker Modric has broken his leg.

A bit gutted about that, I thought we at least deserved a point out of the game. Tell me if you see a clearer penalty than the one which wasn't given on Arshavin, because I'd like to see it. He hit the ball with his hands and knocked it away, and then with his legs took Arshavin out completely - that's two penalties in one! Terrible decision. We made it easy for them with both their goals, and didn't take our chances when they came. Shame.

Hibs v Celtic just finished on ESPN and two acts of simulation by Celtic. Oh the irony. McGeady sent off for diving and Chris Killen got away with it in the closing stages. The latter was the worst attempt at a dive I have seen.

So – just to clarify – he kicked a water bottle in frustration, was sent to the stands as a result, and now will receive a grovelling apology from Keith Hackett?

Last season, Phil Brown kicked a water bottle in frustration, apologised immediately to the fourth official and voluntarily left for the stands, and was subsequently charged, fined £1,000 and warned about his future conduct.

Another example of the witch-hunt against Monsieur Wenger and his team, it seems. The poor chap.

Mr. Brown's mistake was his forgetting to strike a Messiah/Michael Jackson pose in the stand!

Nani and Berbatov to attend the Diaby School Of Clinical Finishing.

Wenger/Jackson - I was waiting for Jarvis Cocker.

Modric - bad for Spurs and certain MRFFers, good for England. Who will Tottenham buy?

Cheers,
OW

No - he kicked a bottle in frustration, fourth official called the referee to send him to the stands, he went to the dugout where he was sent - but there was nowhere for him to sit. So they pondered for a while and then made him stand on the touchline in front of the United fans. All of this happened while the dirty pricks of fans were singing a disgusting song about him being a pedophile, over and over again - the referee must have heard it, he was being strongly abused by them, but he still sent him to stand a few metres from them. And it all happens 30s before the end of extra time - what's the point?

I can't say I have much positive to say about Phil Brown following his stupid stroppy allegation of Fabregas spitting, and coming onto the pitch in his clothes - god forbid... which was all complete bollocks, it turns out.

Yay, welcome back Fuzz! I have just finished my period of exile in West Yorkshire. Quick highlights of the last 4 weeks:

Scotland game: terrible. Almost glad I missed the game (on TV) as I was stranded on a train after somebody (presumably a Scotland fan with foresight) threw themselves in front of it.

Celtic/Arsenal: shocking how bad they were, another embarrasmment for Scottish football. Celtic normally have a nice passing game but the only way they could have won it was to play like Rangers (physical, kick them off the park) but they didn't.

Hibs v Celtic just finished on ESPN and two acts of simulation by Celtic. Oh the irony. McGeady sent off for diving...

Beggars believe. They took the moral high ground and got the SFA to complain about Eduardo. I just don't get McGeady's mental state.

Yogi Hughes (Hibs manager) said:
Even if Aiden McGeady take a dive, is it not just a case of saying 'let's get on with it'
No, no it's not. Cheats should be sent off. And this isn't partisan politics from me, I took the same stance last year with Kyle Lafferty.

That photo is pretty hilarious...sounds like the officials ballsed that one up though, making him stand right in front of United supporters like that...

Also re: the Man U - Arsenal match - based on this match I predict a solid win for the gunners at the Emirates when the two clubs meet again. I think they were the better side.

I love Arsene's assessment of his own performance that resulted in him being sent to the stands:

Wenger said:
I didn't know you were not allowed to kick a water bottle, although it was a good kick.

Maybe he should have subbed himself in. :D

In MLS news, Columbus, the team with the best record in the East, managed to lose to New York, a side with a Derby-esque record this season, by a score of 1-0. I take consolation from Man Utd's shock loss to Burnley, but it still sucks. Still, we are one point behind Houston and have a game in hand. There is still a very real possibility for a title repeat and another Supporter's Shield (trophy for best record in the regular season).
