Very annoyed that Spurs blew another two-goal lead and couldn't get three points. I can't help but think that games like that will drop them to fifth by season's end.
He had his scan at 6pm this evening – apparently we'll hear the results tomorrow. Apparently there's minimal swelling on the joint, which the medical types reckon is a good sign. But we'll see.Any news on Bullard's gammy leg Jaffa? I'm sure everyone up there is holding their breath....
I must admit to being slightly amused by it all, although I'd heard it was Pulis who headbutted Beattie rather than the other way around. Hopefully, it'll turn out to be this year's Phil Brown's Half time Team Talk......and what is up with the Potters? Beattie allegedly headbutted Pulis after the match although I don't see how that's possible if the manager was wearing his usual baseball cap...![]()
"I think you can attribute Stoke's problems in the second half of the season to the fact that Pulis lost the dressing room when he nutted James Beattie,' the pundits will no doubt tell us.![]()
EDIT EDIT: Phil Brown is on Sky Sports News now, confirming that it's a sprain to Jimmy's medial ligament, and he expects him to be out until mid-January. Brown reiterated too that this new injury is completely unconnected to his previous knee problems.
Indeed, the period over Christmas covers a lot of games. However, given his past knee problems (albeit with his other leg), it's a bit of a relief that it's not a longer lay off. We'll have to see how he gets on.That's probably the best news - it's the other leg. That's a lot of games to miss though.
Good thing Utd are already qualified for the UCL knockout rounds, but they've got a big test against Villa this weekend. Hopefully Vidic gets over his flu and Wes Brown is ready to come back by then.
I watched the rebroadcast last night and it was actually pretty good match to watch. Saha and Yakubu made a real impact when they came on, they were constantly making some nice exchanges in their approach play. Lennon had some good play up the wings but the man of the match had to be Everton's Seamus Coleman, who consistently beat his markers up the right and put in a handful of quality crosses, two of which led to goals.
Everton really pressed well in the second half but if Spurs are serious about a top four finish they'll have to finish these sorts of games off.
Maybe it's time for Man U to bring back the 19th century all-out attack formations that used one, two or no defenders![]()
As a Liverpool fan, I'm loving it. Earlier in the season the media were crowing over Benitez's failure to draft in decent cover up front (a valid criticism, to be fair). BUT NOW the haters of the 'pool and assorted media hacks are faced with the fact that Manchester United and Arsenal are really not looking much better at the moment. United does have greater depth, and that is why they made it to the CL knockout stages...but they are looking very, very thin at the moment. Meanwhile Wenger is facing the exact same dilemma up front with RVP as Liverpool is with Torres, with the difference that Eduardo and Vela are better options than Babel and N'Gog.
So while Liverpool have been hit earlier and have the thinnest squad of the big four, it does not mean other big sides won't suffer similar issues.
...It's going to be a weird, weird match tomorrow. I definitely don't expect a win, but I hope they keep it competitive and entertaining.
He's going to be out for 6-8 weeks apparentlyIndeed, the period over Christmas covers a lot of games. However, given his past knee problems (albeit with his other leg), it's a bit of a relief that it's not a longer lay off. We'll have to see how he gets on.
Obviously we'll miss him, but it has to be remembered that we were Bullard-less for the win over Everton – so we can win without him, we can!
I think it will end up being a draw, like their last game with a radically different teamOn paper, it should be 3 points for Wolfsburg. But United have an annoying habit of winning regardless of the circumstances.
It will be interesting to see how Wolfsburg approaches this match. Logic seems to dictate putting pressure on the patchwork defense as much as possible, but United are experts at counterattacking football so even an injury-plagued squad will present some danger.
Old Trafford will be messy/violent/carnage.
Not one, but TWO "Damned Uniteds".![]()
