**** cindy crosby. of all people why did it have to be him? it wasnt even a good goal.

still one of the best games I've ever seen.

unfortunately, the tournament is over and we have to go back to the NHL

It wasn't a good goal....?????????????????? I guess it takes no skill to go 5 hole on Miller and do it on the fly from the off side. Dude seriously??? I love all the jealous Sid haters..you make me laugh.

Doesn't matter how the winning goal goes in. It was a GREAT goal because it won the game for Canada not because it was some fancy move.

The game tying goal wasn't "great" either according to your standards.

it doesn't. he threw it on net and miller ****ed up and it went in. 99 out of 100 times he stops that shot. that was the one time he missed it.

and how am i a jealous sid hater? i dont like him. he's a ****ing pansy. ovechkin is a much better all around player.

I think that ucfgrad93 explained it well:
Sorry, you must have gotten this mixed up with figure skating and expected style points.;) Any time the puck crosses the line it is a good goal.

Miller didn't save it because he didn't expect Crosby to shoot the puck at that time. Usually when the puck goes in the net it's because the shooter tricks the goalie or the goalie ****s up. I guess if the goalie ****s up, they should waive the goal off? It was a low percentage play, and it paid off. A goal is a goal is a goal. It was one of the greatest goals in Canadian National Team history.

If you want to talk about bad goals, we can go back to 1999 when the Stars won the Stanley Cup (against the Sabres) and Brett Hull's skate was in the crease. Technically, because of the stupid skate-in-the-crease rule that season, that goal shouldn't have been allowed to stand. But, it was the Stanley Cup winning goal, and they just let it go. Now that wasn't a good goal..... but it was, because it counted.

Anyway...... back to the NHL.....

Well people, it's trade deadline day on Wednesday. It really creeped up on us didn't it? Why didn't they make it Friday?

I don't really see it being too active of a trade day.

The Leafs traded another veteran of the team today: Ponikarovsky to the Pens for Martin Skoula and forward Luca Caputi. Poni will be missed, but Burke is understandably removing the old core of the team. I think it was a fair trade for both sides. I hear that the Pens got Poni to make Malkin happy......

Will Kaberle waive his no-trade, or will Burke end up dealing him in the summer.......

It's my favorite day of the year!

Normally I take off for the trade deadline (seriously), but there was too much going on at work.

The Isles traded Andy Sutton to the Sens for a 2nd round pick yesterday. The Isles finally figured out that the youth movement is good.

Heard rumors that a fair amount of teams are interested in Roloson. He's having a great season on a crappy team and he's the reason why the Isles are not 5-40-5.

I have no idea what's going on with Rick DiPietro, he's probably injured again

Anyways, I got tsn.ca trade centre up and I'm ready to go!

EDIT: Oh and by the way, who the hell said we can beat the BlackHawks 5-3? Just sayin'

No need to take today off..... I don't think we're in for an overly exciting trade day.

Re: DiPietro...... isn't being injured all the time one of the clauses in his 50 year contract?:D

Looks like the Hurricanes are (unsurprisingly) clearing house.... I guess Paul Maurice's job will be safe for the next couple of years.

I generally do, I'm at work watching the trades (or lack thereof).

Damn, I always forget about that clause. He has retroactively been put on IR with inflammation of the knee. We'll be learning more lter  His career is over. The Isles just need to cut their loses and try to find or develop a goalie.

Yea, still trying to figure out where Ray Whitney goes.

Nice win by the Flyers last night. The Devils/Sharks game was fun as well.

Glad the NHL is back online, but I did love me some Olympic hockey. I still want Crosby put in a wood chipper, but that's another story. :D

Nitti looked like **** last night:eek: But then again so did Harnell:p:D

The Flyers have not had a decent goalie since Hextall :)

Sorry dude but unless Leighton gets struck by the hand of god the Flyers won't make it pass the first round.

And I'm a Flyers fan

And since we both posted, the Flyers have taken a dive against the Panthers, and Leighton choked hard against the Sabres.

How the hell do you not anticipate a bankshot when you go out to play the puck? I play rec-league goalie, and I know how to not give up that shot.

If the Flyers even make it, I'm with you, the first round is it. Leighton has been better than expected, but that's not saying much considering what his expectations were. How much does Boucher suck that he's riding the bench behind Leighton?

The only Flyers jersey I've ever bought is a Hextall jersey. People still make fun of me for wearing it. We've had too many bad goalies since, and there's no excuse for that. You know as soon as we find a goalie that's lights out, that stays healthy, the league will have another lockout.

Too bad the busiest trade deadline day in the history of deadline days had no big names traded :(

It's the way of the new NHL.

The big names were traded prior to the Olympic break (Phaneuf, Kovalchuk).

I saw a review for an iPhone/iPod touch hockey game on TouchArcade that looks like it might be pretty good. It doesn't have NHL licensing, so they're going with country names instead of NHL teams. But if it's anything like those NHL Sega games from the 90's, I'll be a happy boy.

The Habs are in Los Angeles tonight..... if I can't find something else to do, I think I'll go to the game.....

How about that amazing come back from the Canucks to solidify their lead in the Northwest division? Coming back from 4 - 1 to take it 4 - 6!

It's hard to tell if Cook got his elbow up. I think the call could of went either way. I fell bad for Savard, but its hockey;)

Don't even start with the "Lack of respect" thing:p

Peace

Doesn't matter if he got his elbow up or not. The fact that he went ahead with that hit is a perfect example of the lack of respect that the players have for each other.

We don't have to get back into that though.:p

Here's what came out of the GM meetings:

After three days of meetings in Boca Raton, Florida, the National Hockey League's general managers have put forward a recommendation for a rule change to address hits to the head in league games.

The following language was agreed to unanimously by the group:

"A lateral, back pressure or blindside hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and or the principal point of contact is not permitted.

A violation of the above will result in a minor or major penalty and shall be reviewed for possible supplemental discipline."

As long as it's implemented properly, it works for me.

So what do we all think of the Matt Cooke hit on Marc Savard?

In case you didn't see it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z1vJrIAg-0

Lack of respect.

Cooke is a ****ing scumbag and the fact that the NHL didnt suspend him is a ****ing joke. It's not even the first time he's hit someone in the head like that. The NHL is basically saying that hits to the head like that are legal.

And now Savard's going to be out for the year because of it.

The Penguins are coming to Boston next thursday and I expect that one of Thornton, Lucic, or Chara will kick the absolute **** out of Cooke. In fact, if they don't, then they don't deserve to play for the Bruins anymore. I don't give a damn about instigator penaltys or anything. That man deserves to get obliterated.

And I'm not going to wish that type of injury on anyone, but what would happen if someone hit Cindy or Malkin like that and knocked them out for the year? There's no way the NHL wouldn't suspend whoever made that hit. It just proves how big of a joke this league actually is.

Guerin basically saying that his own teammate should be suspended for that hit just shows how much of a joke Colin Campbell is.

Go Guerin. Cooke is a bum.

My Flyers choked hard against a very sharp Bruins team tonight. They looked good, the Flyers looked bad. Which is not a good combination.

Watched the Avs game tonight on TV. Glad to see Anderson with another shutout, and against his old team. He's played so well.

Going to a minor league game tomorrow night. Love it!

And off topic, I just found out that Iron Maiden is coming to Denver this year, so I'll be buying tickets on Wednesday when they go on sale. Woohoo!
