Tough loss for the USA in the tournament today. As a goalie myself, I *hate* shootouts. All the kids on the bench were smiling and having a good time. I have a feeling that both goalies were on the verge of puking. I know I am when we have shootouts.

Man Canada has a talented team though.

Hopefully the US can beat Finland and get another shot.

I hate shootouts too, but if the US could have held on to that 4-2 lead, the game wouldn't have gone there.

Shootouts turn a team game into an individual one.

Does anyone else hate Bob Costas or is it just me? He knows jack about hockey and find him annoying when he talks. There was no reason for him being there...
PS Drury on the US team... HA, hope they like carrying around dead weight cause that's all he's been this whole season for the rangers. I hope the rangers don't make the playoffs, I want a chance at a good draft pick :p

I think Costas knows a little bit about hockey. During the Winter Classic a few years ago, he talked about being the reporter for an east coast hockey league, and riding the bus with the guy Ogie Oglethorpe was based on for Slap Shot.

As an Avs fan, I'll always have a special place in my heart for Drury. As a Flyers fan, I just can't wait for him to leave New York so that I can like him again. :)

My kids just got home from the "Classic". Your had a blast, from what they could remember( too much alcohol:D).As to the game, the Flyers just CAN'T finish, what can I say:mad:. How bout Bobby Ryan making the Olympic team:)
My older son played peewee with him here in Philly/South jersey. He's a BEAST...;) A local kid made good...

Peace

Canucks win 7 of their last 10. Luongo has been very good since being announced for team Canada. Though I have a feeling when the Canucks go on 'the longest road trip in NHL history', they may suffer a bit.

Bieksa is out 2-3 weeks with severed tendons in his left ankle. This isn't the first time that his calf has been cut open by a skate. Now the 'Nucks have gone from no D to really no D.:p

When will the players start wearing blade-resistant socks?

very true, i was screaming at the tv why they didn't call that, it was so obvious

Yeah, I noticed it too.

I thought the game was a little slow, but the 3rd period was good.

I liked how they announced Team USA at the end of the game. It's nice when they involve the kids.

Let's
Go
Ca-na-da!

So far it's 1-0 Canada against the US in the first period.

/Yes, I know it's not NHL hockey, but the WJHC is still some damn good hockey.

Stupid yanks get a lucky goal in over time. Should have never pulled Allen.. easy save for him.

Oh well. The Canadian men's hockey team will show our southern friends who's boss during the 2010 Olympics to an audience of millions.

MR's resident Blues fan checking in, ready for the puck to drop in Stockholm in under 3 hours. Last year was quite the ride and I expect nothing different from the team this year. Tons of upside, but we'll see how it goes. I wouldn't be completely shocked to see this team take a step backwards. I could see the season going marvelously well, though, if all the pieces fall into place.

Damn! I thought I was the only Blues fan on here. They have had an incredible season on the road so far with several big wins. As of last week they actually had the best road record in the NHL. Now at home, don't even get me started. Oh my God its a complete embarassment. So far our leading scorers from last year have been a letdown. I expected a LOT more from Oshie & I expected Backes & Boyes to keep up the way they played last season, but they didn't. Oshie has been ok I guess, and Mcdonald has been a bright spot as usaul. Also, I think firing Andy Murray was a smart move all in all, but Davis Payne still has a lot to learn...

Now on what i think about the Blackhawks. Wow! I expected them to have a good season, I mean who wouldn't when you have Hossa & Tavres along with a lot of other big name players. They have still completely blown their expectations. I have them picked for the Presidents Trophy, but I'm not sure about their chances for good 'ole Stanley.

Also, I hate the Canucks since last season when they swept the Blues in the playoffs. :( Major bummer.

Luongo is good, I'll give him that, but I'm not a big fan. I will also give the Canucks that after we went 2-0 on them this season they did come & beat us at home in OT (not saying much to beat the Blues at home though...).

Another Blues fan here. I'm wondering if we can just play the rest of the season on the road. Then maybe we'd have a chance.

I was at the game against Vancouver on New Years Eve, what a disappointment, going up 3-0 and losing it in OT. It was a great game nonetheless, with some good fights (always the fun part) and I had excellent seats; 5 rows from the front. IMO, unlike baseball or football, a hockey game can still be fun to watch on TV or attend even if your team does suck, as long as they put up some sort of fight, which the Blues do.

Firing Murray was the right move, but I think for this season, too little too late. Hopefully the new guy can turn the team around next season.

I really think it came at the perfect time. This season is almost gone really, I mean it could be like last year & have a wonderful second half, but really... This will give Payne a chance to get adjusted & then (hopefully) they will make him head coach next season and he can really turn us around. I hate how Dish Network has been blacking out all the home games & most of the road games when my buddies on Charter or DirecTV can watch it fine. It was a real disappointment on NYE, but like you said, the Blues always bring a good fight, even if they just can't seem to win at home.

I'm really looking forward to playing the Sharks wednesday on the road. They tend to play a little above average against them I think and we are on the road. It oughtta be a REALLY interesting game to see (maybe, if Dish shows it  ).

Crap and a half. Ah well, I guess Canada has decided to let another team win every 6 years..... otherwise, no one else would want to be in the tourney. :D

That game should never have gone to overtime. Canada willed those 2 goals to tie the game at 5. Once it got to OT, anyone could have won. Great no-look winning goal.... that was awesome.

The Americans played well, and they deserved to win. It was really cool to see names like Bourque and Ramage on the ice again.....

What do you think about tommorrow night? ;)

Peace

I guess you're referring to the Leafs/Flyers game? Hopefully the Leafs can beat those F'ers. We played the Panthers tonight, and were down 2-0 (both goals scored by ex-Leaf Bryan McCabe..... that always seems to happen when we play against players that were important parts of the team). But the Leafs came back to win 3-2. Hopefully they can ride on that momentum. The Leafs are playing 4 games in 5 nights..... it's not gonna be a fun week for them.

You should call Dish, they definitely should not be blacking them out.

FWIW I have AT&T U-Verse and they've never wrongly blacked out a game.

Yes,but can they beat the Russian team (Ovechkin,Malkin,Datsyuk,Kovalchuk and Semin) I don't think they can... :p
