I'm a bit confused by this KERS thing. I thought it recovered energy from braking.

Just then Hamilton used a big boost, and used all the energy, down the pit straight but as soon as he crossed the line his KERS was fully charged.

You're only allowed 82bhp for a maximum of 6.6 seconds per lap. You can split it up into 3 to give a general improved lap speed, or a boost to overtake. Them's the rules.

I know that. I'm talking about the actual system. The energy from braking charges the battery/capacitor. But the system seems to go from empty to full as they cross the line. So there must be two "storage" units, you use one whilst charging the other...

I think the stored energy is controlled by the ECU, and apparently, they can start a lap with the system fully charged. It probably charges until the batteries (or whatever they use) are full, regardless of how much of it is available for use on that lap.

New sponsor for Brawn?

Sorry bartleby - misunderstood your question. Come on Jense!

EDIT: show the front Ozzie producer!

haha yeh Vettel was just cruising around on three wheels. he eventually pulled over.

what a boring finsh with the Safety Car. oh well Button raced perfectly so he deserves the win and Webber didnt finish last yay! Hamilton had an awesome race too finished fourth.

Wow, what a finish, what a drive, what a car, what a great team. Everyone there deserves that so so much.

So so unlucky for Vettel, but he is a star, again what a great drive.

Well this is an advert for F1 eh? Underdog story, the friendliest teammates ever, and even Trulli saying "I'm really happy for you guys". We need more passion like this - can we ban Kimi from racing anymore?:p

Hey, I know how you feel. But you have got a superstar in Vettel and he is still learning. You have a good car which proved reliable and you will have a good season, I just hope you didn't have a points bonus riding on that one, ouch.

Or any recouperations for the next race. We'll have to see what the stewards say regarding that incident. It seemed to me to be 6 of one and 1/2 a dozen of the other, with both drivers being a bit silly in that situation.

BTW anyone have any thoughts on the BBC coverage? I thought Jonathan was pretty good, although he's definitely versed in radio presenting (talking a lot more through the race then I remember James Allen). The pundits were all interesting, with David Coulthard giving an interesting driver's perspective on things and EJ being more towards the team side of the equation. Watching the forum I think Jake needs to be more forceful (like eg Jeff Stelling) and kinda spread the load a bit better - EJ seemed to but in a lot, perhaps slightly to the detriment of the other two pundits (and even Vijay).

I thought they worked nicely together. Jonathon did well, SO much better than The Cock (scroll down).

Hopefully nothing will happen over the Vettel / Kubica incident. They did nothing wrong really, just a racing incident. They are both young and will learn from it.

I thought the BBC coverage was great, except without the adverts there was no time for a toilet break.

I don't think anything will come of the incident.
I agree about the toilet breaks too!

God, I never thought I'd miss breaks. I was nearly wetting myself.

No points bonus thankfully, it's all or nothing bonus wise.

I'm just worried they'll punish SV for trying to carry on. At least it wasn't an electronics problem.

edit: Just checked Autosport. Looks like we're in for another year of playing the blame-game. No such thing as a blameless racing incident anymore.

True. I hadn't thought of that.

Hey. Hamilton is 3rd again?!?!

EDIT: and $50,000 fine for Red Bull!! Harsh

That's probably a safety issue. Their radio will be monitored, so considering the danger of one of the tethers on the wheel failing and then landing on someone else, its arguably the correct decision.

tough break. poor little jarno*... i have to say i am more than disappointed in toyota though. they spent all season developing an illegal car(flexible rear wing) and then get penalized for it after a good days qualifying. phook all.

*and then jarno pulls a stupid stunt killing his chances for any points... i'm gonna be hard pressed to pay any attention at all if this keeps up...
