I got the BBC coverage over here, but we did have adverts, often at the worst times. At least I didn't suffer the major daylight savings problem I had last year where I'd get an hour delayed TV.

Loved the finish, gosh it was exciting. I suppose I was happy they crashed out because it was a 1, 2.

What's this about Hamilton being third though, when the crash happened they said he was third, then the official standings said he was fourth. Now he's third again? Strange.

Edit: Trulli did overtake behind the safety car, that's why the commentators didn't know what was going on, and why he's no longer third. He got a 25-second penalty.

poor stupid little jarno was penalized for passing Lewie after he(jarno) had spun off during the Sc...

God, I never thought I'd miss breaks. I was nearly wetting myself.

No points bonus thankfully, it's all or nothing bonus wise.

I'm just worried they'll punish SV for trying to carry on. At least it wasn't an electronics problem.

edit: Just checked Autosport. Looks like we're in for another year of playing the blame-game. No such thing as a blameless racing incident anymore.

spook again, tough luck. i was rooting for you guys. did you get to go?

Wow, sounds like an exciting race, and none of the big works teams won either!

I hope I'll be near a TV with Speed Channel this season at least once or twice so I can catch a couple races.

It was a great race and it's awesome our cable company added SPEED HD about a month ago so I could enjoy Sebring and Melbourne in high definition.

Well done Brawn GP. I saw on SpeedTV.com that they are shedding 270 positions, though (over 1/3rd their workforce).

Bring on Sepang!

Good start to the season. Action packed race.

The BBC coverage was good. I felt they didn't show enough when the KERS system was in use, would be good if they could have more info on the screen when showing a duel.

Kubica and Vettel was a shame as I highly rate both of those drivers and enjoy watching them race. Of course the end result was very good for Hamilton. I can't believe he got 3rd (pending appeal). Helped by a lot of drivers dropping out. Barichello did his best to try and through it away at the start with an awful decision in the first corner.

I think we'll see more of it as the season progresses.

The media are making a big thing of the 270 job-losses at Brawn. This has nothing to do with the situation they find themselves in, every other team will have to cut their work-force by a similar amount. There will be no test team (around 50 people gone) and then they will be limiting wind tunnel running (another 100 or so) and this effects Brawn more than most as they have 2 tunnels. Also with the Mercedes engine they will need less support staff. It's a shame but thats Max Mosely for you :(

It's not HD. :( The worldfeed is still only provided in widescreen SD.

But don't the directors at the specific events decide what the actual race footage is and all the broadcasters have the same feed however the BBC can use its cameras for in race interviews etc... so I don't think its a question of the BBC deciding what is filmed...

Yeah, thats true. The BBC will run the feed at Silverstone.

The onscreen graphics, though, I would have thought are an FIA added thing, not something even the host broadcaster can add. They're always tagged by the timing sponsor ( LG, I think )

I had no idea that Sirius carried F1 races (apparently it was half of last season), but they extended the coverage to XM this year as well.

Anyway, they had a repeat broadcast this morning at 7:00am eastern - turns out it's (when live) a simulcast of the 5 Live stream. At least with the pre-race; I don't know if it then switches over to the actual BBC television feed (I had to turn off the radio). Talk about a nice little surprise.

I did think the race was a good start to the season. I thought the middle segment was a little borining, but overall it was good since the ending picked up. I can't decide if I blame Vettle or Kubica - I certainly think they were both at fault, but I think I blame Kubica more since he actually had somewhere to go. If he had the pace to pass Vettle - which I think he did - he could have picked a safer spot like on the next straight.

Also, I feel like some of the drivers get undue scrutiny. I doubt Hamilton ran back and said "Challenge that!", but rather pointed out what had happened, "Umm...Jarno just passed me under safety car...?" In turn it's a team decision to protest not the driver.

The issue with the incident was that Vettel outbraked himself, meaning he lost time, giving Kubica an oppurtunity to overtake him. The BBC commentators thought that Vettel's subsequent attempt to keep the place was stupid, but Kubica also didn't give him enough room to pass the corner safely - a 50:50 (silly) racing incident. Well, Martin Brundle and David Coulthard thought that. Eddie Jordan thought it was mostly (65%:35%) Vettel's fault.:p:D

But could Brawn have even become possible if they needed a budget significantly more then what they have now? Even Frank Williams was quoted as saying the new cost-cutting measures helped keep the doors open at Williams Grand Prix Engineering.

And USF1GP is able to enter the sport in 2010 thanks to the lower prices. Hopefully another new team will be able to make it (whatever happened to ProDrive's supposed team?) and we'll have a full 24-car grid again.

Still looked better then the version on SPEED SD (especially since for a time during qualifying SPEED was broadcasting the widescreen SD feed on the SD channel so all the Driver's names were off the screen - you could only see the times. )

Thats Bernie for you, he still believes that people should pay extra to view F1 in HD!

I thought Bernie killed that F1 digital PPV thing a few years back...

No, Brawn could never survive with 700 people, but that will be happening throughout Formula One. In the UK I guess around 1,000 people will loose their jobs with the new cost reductions.

I think Max said something about 26 cars next season, not sure where they are all coming from.

Yeah Bernie killed off his own channel because no one paid for it, be he still thinks HD F1 should cost extra, but hey, thats Bernie for you....

Prodrive were dead as soon as it was announced that you had to design your own chassis (they were going to run rebranded Mclarens with Gary Paffett and De La Rosa apparently). That's why Torro Rosso will have to design their own cars entirely next year.
