So this Singapore '08 issue seems to be growing in scope and those invovled.

I love Bernnie's comments towards Piquet. LOL For once he's actually saying something correct. I also like how this could potentially come back to bit Piquet. Could the FIA prevent Piquet from driving in motoracing all together? I know it's meant to be the larger body, but I don't fully understand what it truely controls. For example, does it hand out credentials to NASCAR or Indy?

If this is true, why did it take so long for someone to speak up? I will have to keep an eye on this, could cause big issues.

If the claims are true, wouldn't that entitle Piquet to an automatic honorary license for NASCAR?

A good point, made by someone on the F1Technical forums:

Here is the chronology of events:

Grid: Alonso 15th (on soft tyres - unlike the rest of the field), Piquet 16th
Lap 1: Alonso is up to 10th
Lap 12: Alonso pits to get rid of his soft tyres
Lap 15: Piquet crashes, safety car brought out. Barrichello and two Red Bulls pit prior to pitlane closing
Lap 16: Kubica & Rosberg both need to pit under a closed pitlane
Lap 17: Massa pits, problems with procedure means he drags the fuel hose out on early release. Plummets to dead last
Lap 18: Race order - Rosberg, Trulli, Fisichella
Lap 27: Kubica in for penalty
Lap 29: Rosberg in (from lead) for penalty
Half distance: Trulli pits, Alonso now takes lead
Lap 50: Sutil crashes, safety car deployed again

So for this master plan to work...

From lap 12, Renault would have had to know that Rosberg would have to take a stop-go for a pitstop that was yet to occur under a safety car that was yet to occur.

They would also have had to know Massa would have destroyed the Ferrari refuelling rig, derailing both his and Raikkonen's races.

That Coulthard would delay Hamilton significantly at a key stage before Alonso's second stop.

I am so far entirely unconvinced by the accusations.

On another subject; what a weekend for FI, shame about Raikonnen's KERS allowing him to get an advantage from running wide off the track.

While the FIA could revoke his Super License, that would only affect his ability to race in Formula One, where such a license is required.

I do not believe the FIA handles Grade A competition licenses, which are necessary to compete in GP2 or test a Formula One car. They appear to be handled by each nation's official motor racing sanctioning body. I suppose they could also conceivably exclude him from contending in other FIA-sanctioned series like GP2, F3, WRC, and such even if he has the necessary Grade A competition license.

NASCAR has their own competition license, as does IndyCar (though an IndyCar driver can qualify for a Super License), so Piquet could come to the US.

Just saw that myself. Talk about a crazy season will all of the different teams doing well and all of the driver changes throughout. On top of that we still have 1/3 of the season to go!

I wonder if this means he becomes the backup driver for next year? Maybe he's looking to retire and is happy to finish out his career with a handful of races under Ferrari?

I know he wasn't getting it done, but this makes me a little sad for Badoer. :(

Fisichella: I want to say that I'm very sorry for Luca. I know how much he cared to race in Monza behind the wheel of a Ferrari, because this is the best thing that can happen to an Italian driver, to drive a red car in front of our fans.

Luca always sucked.

Congrat to Fisi. I like him well enough. But...

Jarno should have gotten this ride. He can develop a car and he can wins poles. And he is a lame duck driver @ toymota... feh!

A bit surprised at Fisi's slowness, but the crash in Practice 3 cost him a good bit of setup time.

Not surprised by Force India's performance as they run low downforce by default and Monza benefits from that. Still, with KERS Kimi should be able to get by Sutil on one of the straights on the first lap.

Yeah, he walked away uninjured

But no doubt feeling like the world's biggest wally for trying to be a hero, coming up a zero and throwing away a perfectly good podium finish which was as good as he could hope for given Brawn's far superior race strategy.

No realistic chance of getting past Button on the last lap and under no pressure whatsoever from Raikkonen. Apply hand swiftly and firmly to forehead and repeat 100 times :D

As usual, the GP2 race was also amazing. Torrential downpour hit the track while they were setting up for the Feature Race, but they waited it out, though the track was still soaked and plenty of action.

Evidently the mandatory tire change is still mandatory even in "changing conditions" so all the leaders had to peel off with 2 to 3 laps to go to put on new wets (the track, while drying, was still too wet for slicks).

The Sprint Race was run in the dry, but it was even crazier.

ESPN ruined this for me while I was looking for USC/Ohio State news on Sunday morning. :( If I didn't already know the outcome I think I would have been paying more attention and in suspense.

Good race by the Brawn cars. I did not expect them to do that well. If Rubens ends up winning it this year I think he needs to then retire. Along those lines if Jeson loses the championship it will be very disappoint for him. I feel like this was the year, because next year McLaren and Ferrari will be back on form and constantly at the front.

Either that or he must be utilizing one of his hind legs in trying to injur himself...

Haha, now that Valentino Rossi doesn't need it any more, maybe he can borrow Valentino's donkey helmet.

You think Rubens should retire??? For what reason?

If he wins the championship I want to see him defend it again next year. And I do hope he wins. He's one of my favorites in the paddock.

Wow, so Lotus was added in addition to the "re-addition" of the bought out BMW. That puts 28 cars on the grid next season. Should make for some interesting races!
