Went out for a Cap's party at my local bar tonight. Although we lost, I came away a winner. I could type out my feelings on tonights game against the Devil's, but I'll bite my tongue.

Missed a team signed (EVERYONE) jersey by 2 tickets, so had I not held that door for that nice lady, I'd be looking at frames for "my" jersey... But, I'm not complaining with what I came away with. My buddy walked away with a Mike Green signed stick, so good for him.

Why is there a 1:00pm game on a FRIDAY? I've got work! Hopefully the radio at work hasn't hit the fan yet, and can get a decent AM station to work that carries the game...

GO FLYERS!

So um....... so we're up 3-2 with 8.7 seconds left in the game..... you can guess what happens next.

I think Ron Wilson's days are numbered.......at least they should be at this point. We don't have much of a team, we have a couple of major injuries, but I think different coaching is in order.

Bah.

I'm very happy to see that the B's spanked St Louis and the lightning last night. Finally a couple of days of offense.

At first I was like "WTF" because the Bruins played St. Louis once this year and the Blues won in a shootout, then I realized you were thinking of Martin St. Louis :p

Yeah Wilson has to go ... are we leading the league in getting shut out or what?

Watching the Caps and Stars last night, both teams looked a little out of whack. To many whifs, missed pucks, pucks left behind. It was a good, hard hitting game though.

Ha - I thought of that after I posted. Martin St. Louis is a dynamo at all of 5'8" and fast as hell -- but he doesn't spell his name how it sounds (at least to those of us in the northeast).

I watched the Blues/B's game back in Nov -- good game. B's have had a tough time winning at home so last night was a lift. Plus fun to have 8 goals when you are at the game.

Well, Ron Wilson ain't goin' nowhere.

*sigh*

I think that this is literally the lowest point in the franchise's history. We're totally screwed- there isn't anything that can be done trade-wise. We just have to sit on the team we have.

I think enough time has now passed to say this: based on the way things are going this season, the Kessel trade was the dumbest thing Burke could have possibly done. In a few years, it may look good because Kessel will be a big part of whatever team we have, but if he didn't make that trade, we would have gotten better faster. The trade set us back a couple of seasons.

--------------------------------------

Dany Heatley made his return to Ottawa last night..... first time since the trade that he demanded last season. Apparently, they put stickers of Heatley's face in all of the urinals in the arena. :D

Sorry for the poor snip.

So very poor.:D

Kessell wasn't a disappointment in Boston, he had little support.
He went through some trying matters and returned.

He's a talented player but not a team player. While he was in Boston it was laughable when fans would say he only time he crossed the defensive blue line was for a face off or to exit the ice.

Then he demanded to be paid as if he was in the top 10 in the league.
At that point it was time to dump the problem on someone else.

Thank you Brian Burke.

It's not that Kessel isn't a team player...... it's more than he isn't a team leader. He's known as a bit of a headcase, but that doesn't mean that he can't be positive part of a team. The problem in Toronto is that we have no leaders. Kessel is the best player on the team (besides Gustavsson, who is probably the Leafs' MVP at this point), but he needs support to be effective. Our #1 center should be our #3 center. He probably looks around the room and thinks "who the hell is going to help me get it done?"

Burke's biggest problem is that it's virtually impossible to get a #1 center via trade in today's NHL. You have to draft one of those. That's going to be a bit of a wait.

Burke has taken responsibility for this mess, but now he has to fix it. He's not going anywhere for the next few years, and it's not like someone new will be able to be any more effective.

Burke is from New England..... maybe it was his plan all along to prop up the Bruins..... ;)

Heater on the urinals ? Thats freaking awesome!

I found it a little interesting that after the 4th item was thrown on the ice that the PA guy didn't come on and say don't do it or the sens will get a penalty

I have said it numerous times here-Ron Wilson is a lousy coach and he has only survived because of Burke.

the only way to get this team on track is to get rid of both-I for one want to see it not because it will help the leafs but because it will vindicate my belief that RW is a arrogant, self-indulgent prick and Burke is just an awful human.

I hear you ... I am having a hard time dealing with the fact we would of had Tyler Seguin to build around.

I think the jersey tossing by the Sens fans was partially organized by the Sens. I liked the guy who put tape over some of the letters on his HEATLEY jersey, so that it spelled HATE. :p

I just don't agree with your take on RW and BB. Where do you get your information that they are like that? Even today, Giguere was quoted saying positive things about RW (basically saying that he doesn't yell at practice, but that he does use sarcasm. He said that he would rather have a sarcastic coach than a yeller). He didn't have to say anything at all. Apparently, Wilson hasn't lost the room.... the players are still listening but just can't execute. The talent really isn't there. Our 1st line center is a borderline 3rd line center on any other team. That being said, unless there's a drastic change, I don't see RW as coach of the Leafs next season.

Burke is an awful human? That's a lot harsh. Why? He has the respect of the media in Toronto, which is impossible. He does a lot of charity work. He has a self-imposed trade freeze over the holidays that is longer than the official NHL trade freeze. He treats his players with respect (sometimes too much). If a player has a no-trade clause, he doesn't use the media to guilt that player into releasing it. Sure, he's made a few bad decisions in Toronto, but an awful human? No.

I think I may have gone a little extreme in calling him awful human-the trade freeze is very noble and I can respect him as a person for doing charity.

However, as a hockey fan I really cannot respect a GM who organized a team around bullying everyone around and walking around like their are gods gift to hockey(I am referring to when he ran the ducks in 07). He gave that team the ok to take cheap shots and dirty plays in order to win.

With regards to RW-when he was in San Jose, while he was responsible for many regular reason successes, his inability to adjust in the playoffs and make adjustments, an inability to work with the media, and him apparently calling out players by name in front of other players in the room makes me think that. While Giggy may prefer a coach with sarcasm, sarcasm can also be a bad thing as it can also lead to players becoming

As an example-there was an incident when was in SJ-I cannot remember the exact exchange but essentially the player made some comment about the coach's use of technology and how it already told him what he did wrong, to which Ron replied- "and you know what else it told me? You're not playing again tonight" There were also numerous instances of him saying his players needed to play like men and not boys.

These instances have led me to my position on Ron-

Kessell wasn't a disappointment in Boston

nope, he was just a ***** who only had one goal scoring move and didnt get back to play defense.

and he didnt want to be a be a bruin. good riddance to him. he's too much of a ***** to be a big bad bruin anyways.

I hear you ... I am having a hard time dealing with the fact we would of had Tyler Seguin to build around.

don't forget boston gets toronto's 1st rounder this year too... if the season ended right now, that would be #3 overall!

Our #1 center should be our #3 center.

It's funny, thats the exact opposite of the Bruins. Our #3 center (Marc Savard) could be #1 for most teams in the league.

Burke's biggest problem is that it's virtually impossible to get a #1 center via trade in today's NHL. You have to draft one of those. That's going to be a bit of a wait.

There's some guy who was drafted this past year who projects to be a #1 center in a few years.

Hey Columbus....I think the Pens handed you a wake up call tonight....might want to take notice.

aaaahhhhhaaaa 7-2 I think if I where the CBJ I would be wearing bags over my heads as I left the arena.

Here is my once in a every now and then post in this thread:

"BOOOOOOOOOOO"

Columbus just tied it. I still think Dallas has a good chance to make it 7 in a row
