What makes it worse is that I grew up in L.A., and have more than a few friends that went to UCLA. This is gonna be a rough night. Not as bad as 1997, but still tough.

^^^ ha! Normally a good solution would be drinking in excess, but I have to work tomorrow morning, so I'm not allowed to drown my sorrows.

Oh well.

Hey, MacDawg, thanks for the win!

I switched over to Auburn v South Carolina, and they're both on a different level of football than the Bulldog scrimmage tonight.

Think Richt will be gone soon?

Wow, that was one heck of a Dawg fight tonight. It was an ugly win, but I'll take it. And you're right we have a long way to go. After all he has done, I hope Georgia doesn't fire Richt. Then again, this is a "What have you done for me lately" sport. All I have to say to UGA fans is remember Ray Goff. Personally, I would love to have a coach with a 70% winning percentage.

I flipped over to USC/Auburn game as well. I was really hoping the Chickens could pull this one out, but it doesn't look too good for them right now. I think the conference is much better when Steve Spurrier is winning. I actually like the ole' ball coach.

Yeah, me too. Funny how I hated him a Florida now I want him to win.

Do you think Cam Newton would be 4-0 at Miss State right now? I don't think so...so I don't blame him for going to Auburn.

Actually, I think there is a good chance he would be. We kept up with Auburn, and actually outgained LSU in total yardage. The numerous turnovers by Relf and Russell led directly to those losses. Then again, the O-line forgetting how to block vs. LSU led directly to those turnovers. There were still some really bad decisions and throws made by Relf, though, that I think Newton wouldn't do.

Okay the biggest story in college football is UCLA beating #7 Texas..... UCLA seemed like an elite for once.....

Kevin Prince really stepped it up! :)

What a LOOOOOONG day! And by "day" I mean two days.

I'm about to finally go to sleep since waking up at 7:30am Friday morning!

I was in line all Friday night down at Bronco Stadium for College GameDay, which was an absolute blast. And then got together with some friends prior to the game tonight, which was SOOO frustrating!!

But first thing's first. I've come to a rather painful (literally) realization. I'm way too old to be up for two days and then standing for slightly more than eight straight hours whilst waiting in line and then at GameDay. And then of course we were on our feet for most of the game as well. Ugh. I have a feeling it's going to take a few days to recover from this!

I was pretty disappointed that Arkansas couldn't put away Alabama. The really frustrating thing is that Alabama didn't beat them, the Hogs gave it to them. 'Bama kept fighting, which is a sign of a true champion, but Arkansas could have put that game away if not for that "Heisman contender."

Texas losing isn't a surprise, but losing to UCLA definitely was.

As far as the Boise State game goes. I was pissed at my Broncos for basically the entire third quarter. Rather than put them away as we should have, we instead give them two touchdowns!

Those personal foul/unsportsmanlike conduct penalties were absolutely unacceptable.

But we still pulled out the win, and we were still in control the entire time. 3-0 is a good start. :)

Embarrassed with the Dawgs

As far as Richt goes, I know he will take heat for this season after last year
But I hope he weather's the storm, he is a class guy
The question you always have to ask is, who would you get to replace him?
It isn't enough to say you want to get rid of someone, you have to know who you will get

As far as I'm concerned, nobody out there would appeal to me over Richt
Would that change after another 2 years of this? Probably
But for now, I am OK with Richt

Edit: So much for the Heisman Hype for Mallett, 3 bad picks that pretty much cost the game

This is exactly why I expect him to stick around. He's done some great things with Georgia, and having your biggest playmaker out hurts in a lot more ways than just his athletic ability. You lose a leader on the field, a source of fire and passion.

But I agree, if this continues a couple more years then I suspect there will be pitchforks and torches. Heh.

I really feel for the guy, but he did single-handedly throw away (pun intended) that game. Both INTs in the fourth were horrible decisions. Even if he hadn't throw it behind his receiver on the first one it still may have been picked off. His receiver was completely covered. And then the second one he's trying to just throw it away, but instead of stepping in to his throw he just flings it with his arm and doesn't get enough on it.

Two very bad decisions in two potentially game-winning drives.

I think Alabama's next test won't come until the SEC Championship Game.

EDIT: Perhaps SC could prove a challenge as it's on the road, but Alabama is going to destroy LSU.

I think Richt is a great guy, but I'm not so sure if he'll last 2 more years. I'm a Ga Tech fan, but live just on the outskirts of Athens (home to UGA) and operate a golf course here. The UGA faithful have been calling for his head all last season, and with the lack of success so far, they have kicked it into overdrive. The local call-in shows are horrible to listen to this season, as the callers are just going off on him. Local loyal UGA fans have signs on their cars saying "Fire Richt" and all sorts of junk. I even get to talk to some athletic association higher ups, and everyone says the same thing...he's a great man and someone who you'd want your kids to play for, but he isn't a leader and doesn't have any fire. There have even been a few kids play for him from the local high school here, and I've personally heard one of them state "Richt's too soft, you can get away with anything." People are saying he can't keep his players in check. They just had another player arrested for DUI early this morning. Richt is catching the blame for all of this right now, whether he's actually responsible or not. I do agree that he's an outstanding person, but I'm starting to think that he might be better at being an offensive coordinator up in the booth, than a leader on the sidelines.

Kind of ironic coming from a Boise fan.

vs #7 Florida
at #19 South Carolina
at #12 LSU
vs #10 Auburn

Every one of those teams is better than Boise's "Super Bowl" opponent from three weeks ago. If you think Bama is so good that they won't be tested by that schedule (plus the other, lesser teams they'll play), what argument will you have for being picked over them for a championship game, even if they do lose one?

AAAAARRRRRGGHHHH!

****!

****!

::sigh::

Okay, I'm done. :)

Hate to say it but I always like it when UT losses big time to an under dog. I honestly think UT is an over rated football team.

And looks like UT chances at playing for a BCS title are shot.

Pull back on the reins, buddy... ;)

You took that completely wrong. I was saying 'Bama won't be tested because I don't think there's a team in the country that can beat them right now.

In my opinion, the only way 'Bama gets beat is if they beat themselves (penalties, etc...)

In no way did I imply that 'Bama had a weak schedule.

I think someone jumped to conclusions, and we all know what happens when we ass-u-me!

:D

I've decided that I'm no longer going to bother trying to convince anyone that Boise State is a good team. There is so much outspoken hate for Boise State in the media that I've grown quite tired of it.

Our schedule is our schedule, and our conference is our conference. Nothing more can be done about it.

My words change nothing, so why waste the breath? Heh.

EDIT:

I'm really excited for the Stanford at Oregon matchup next Saturday, though. I think Oregon is a little overrated, and I think Stanford is the real deal, so that should be a fun game!

So you agree, then, that a one-loss Alabama team would deserve a bid to the BCS Championship Game over an undefeated Boise?

(For the record, I think Boise is a great team with such a ****** schedule that they deserve to be Auburned if it comes down to it, even though the schedule is "not their fault".)

Ditto about Oregon-Stanford. That could be the game of the year in the Pac-10.
