Can't decide if I like the new AC Milan kit:

Very different to this years:

don't like the new one. stripes too thin, and too much white

Then again there is the Wembley and 'this is football' factor...

The 2009 edition of Man Utd was superior to the current article, while Barca are arguably the same or better. The Spaniards are the better team by some distance and should lift the cup.

As for Wembley, does any team actually feel at home in Wembley? I get the impression from some that the English have yet to truly settle in their own national stadium...

While we're posting new shirts, and while Fuzzy's here...

The new Rangers shirt for 2011/12.

I like the collar on the current one, but the new shirt still looks smart.

True but Wembley still represents home advantage in terms of fan support and a little bit of familiarity. Then again a significant amount of people in the country despise Utd so that might actually be a moot point.

Still, i frankly don't see how Utd will come out winners but we shall see.

It's hard to say a team that lost Cristiano Ronaldo is an improved team, but I think United match up better against Barca this time, as long as SAF doesn't totally screw up his tactics and formation like he did in Rome. Ronaldo alone up front? Park on the right? Rooney on the left? Thank goodness that won't happen again. Barca are clear favorites but I feel United have a good enough chance to pull it off.

Both United and Barca have been beaten by significantly inferior teams this season, so if either team has a bad day they will quickly find themselves in trouble. United are inferior to Barca but still capable of winning if they get their tactics right and get a little slice of luck.

Frankly, your biggest asset is not the 11 men on the field, it's your manager. I am curious to see How Fergie plans to contest the final. Will he play them on the ground, albeit still conceding the majority of possession to the Spaniards, as Arsenal did? Or will he try to succeed where Mourinho's Real failed and play a high-tempo, physical, hustling counterattacking strategy?

Wembley is in London of course, the heartland of Manchester United's support.

I'm sorry, but someone was going to have a cheap pop and make the obvious tired joke. It might as well be me.

And easily commutable from Surrey, Essex, Sussex, Middlesex and Buckinghamshire, giving you a huge catchment area :)

Funny actually, the number of QPR shirts I saw at the Surrey Heath Show at the weekend I lost count of. I can't recall ever seeing one before

But anyway, as LB said, Man U's biggest asset is Fergie and he's certainly capable of masterminding a victory over Barca even with the team he's got. A team that certainly doesn't look as strong as it has done over previous seasons. It would be interesting to see where they'd be if Chelsea hadn't had such a slump

Thanks, I hadn't seen that. Still going for the retro look, I like it. Although the sponsors logo is still a bit Comic Serif.

compared to what they have had lately i like these...

Go jump in your Olympic-size swimming pool!:)

Got away with some bad tackles last night and penalised for a couple of soft ones. A bit more of Owen would have been good, but :).

If they stand too far off the players who don't have the ball, they will do a lot of running for nothing; by the time they close down, the ball has moved on - happened against Arsenal, although it was Park's lapse of concentration that allowed Ramsey to go unchallenged.

Edit - forgot the weapon kept under wraps until yesterday, Darren Gibiesta.

Cheers,
OW

I like the Bilbao shirt, a very distinct design.

Big plans afoot in Hull, eh Jaffa?

If any manager can find a way to beat Barca, it would be Ferguson. Still, even if he does get his tactics right, his men still need to go out there and execute his plan against a superior squad. Mourinho's failure with a better squad than United's does not bode well for the Mancunians though. It's not out of the question, but my money's firmly on the Spaniards. A Man Utd victory would be a huge shock upset.

Burnley's newly unveiled polyester rags seem to have divided opinion... but I rather like them, as it happens.

Bit of an Eighties vibe going on there.

Hmm.

Since he and his son bought the club, Allam Snr has come out with some grand statements in the local press about his plans – and the notion of buying the Stadium from the Council and developing the area around it is a key part of what he's apparently planning.

If he can't buy the ground, he has alternative plans to up sticks and move us to Melton (one of the west Hull villages) and build a new ground and sports village there. Basically, it just seems to be sabre rattling to put pressure on the Council to sell should he make an offer for the KC – and it should be noted that no actual offer has apparently been made.

Releasing these plans looks to me like he's trying to get public support behind him prior to making the Council an offer, but we'll see what happens.

It should be said though that quite a few supporters are happy to see the Stadium and the Club owned by separate parties. We've had some dodgy owners in the past – from the incompetent to the downright criminal – who have sold anything the club had that wasn't nailed down (and one or two things that actually where), and the fact that the Stadium isn't available for unscrupulous types to borrow huge sums against is seen as a bit of a positive.

To be fair, the Alllams have a history of making philanthropic gestures to the City so one would assume that their intentions here are honourable. But we'll wait and see how things develop.

So many sports teams have been screwed by unscrupulous, incompetent or disinterested owners that you have to approach any big plans with some caution.

I wonder why he couldn't just buy the land around the stadium and build his sports park anyway? Or would his ownership of the stadium somehow help finance the new construction?

Pah. I've been telling you lot for years that they were cheats, and dirty, time-wasting, match spoiling, injury feigning, new right-back injuring, mascot plagiarising, glove wearing ones at that.

The Premier League are welcome to them. :p

Characteristics of any team managed by Warnock maybe? I remember Sheffield United and their thuggish Captain a few years back. Ugh!

I think the lack of a points deduction had more to do with the league's unwillingness to go through with it than anything else.

Had the League denied QPR promotion, they would have opened themselves up to legal action from a number of clubs who will benefit financially from promotion clauses agreed when selling players to the Hoops. One such club is Plymouth, for whom this money could mean the difference between extinction and survival. I wonder if this influenced the decision...

Hmm, perhaps it did. West Ham showed a few years ago that crime does indeed pay, since the penalty for playing Tevez was much less painful than relegation. Player registration irregularities are never really adequately punished.
