Jaffa your pic doesn't do it justice. I like this kit.
hull-city-10-11-home-adidas-shirt-b.jpg

i like it as well, and the back will look nice with black numbers and names on it.

the West Brom away kit is beyond horrible. maybe in person is not as bad, but on TV it is going to look like it was a free t-shirt given at a new mall inauguration. they should have kept some dark blue in it (but the phone number logo is beyond help)

Two complaints involve the stripes. The front panel features stripes that are edged with dashed lines, making them look fuzzy at distance. It's totally needless, looks daft, and spoils the effect of stripes which should really be nice and bold.

Fuzzy stripes never look good, as demonstrated by this horrendous example from our old friends from West Bromwich.

This shirt also had the misfortune of ringing up a 4 pack of Andrex Toilet Tissue every time a hapless Baggies fan walked near the barcode scanners in the local Asda supermarket. :D

To get back to that West Brom kit for a moment, how do the players actually feel about it? Any of them commented publicly?

I would imagine there would be a difference in self-esteem between wearing a sponsor's company logo and being rented out as advertising space for promotional logos. To me it's the difference between wearing an employee shirt (like at Apple) or being the guy outside a shop on the street wearing sandwich boards and handing out 2 for 1 coupons.

The West Brom shirt isn't corporate sponsorship, it's retail advertising. I reckon the players should draw the line and refuse to wear it. Ditto for the supporters too.

i like the west brom away. i'm sure in person it looks much better. the hull city kit is beautiful.

best so far, imho, is the new PSV home kit. ;)
PSV-10-11-nike-home-1.jpg

pachyderm, isn't it a natural for PSV Eindhoven to be sponsored by the town's biggest employer? ;)
Not only that, but PSV started out life as the Philips works team – it's what the 'P' stands for. ;)

EDIT: Gah, you added that second sentence seconds before I posted. And there I was trying to look all knowledgeable and everything. :p

Anyway, I'm still not liking our new home shirt despite pachyderm's protestations. The PSV kit looks nice, though.

Well, we have a new manager to add to our other new stuff (badge, kit, owners etc.). Ex-Carlisle, Preston and Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson. Although he's not Lord Gannon of Dundalk he's got a good record and hopefully will be able to build us a squad that can start competing for promotion two years down the line.

Also, Jaffa I hear on the grapevine that one Mark Maguire has taken over the organisational reins at Hull

Any thoughts on the new crest and shirt? Up to the task?
Crest isn't that much different to the previous one. I've already uploaded to my profile if you want a look. Shirt is OK too. It's only a Nike generic design, but at least that means the build quality should be better than some of the tissue paper we've been wearing over the past couple of seasons.

Here's a not-particularly good pic taken from the recent Open Day. I love the way one of the lasses seems to have forgotten to bring any sports shoes, although I suspect most guys seeing that photo won't even notice :D

Here’s ours for the new season. It’s the best shirt we have ever had IMO

rangers-10-11-umbro-home-kit-3.jpg

Oh you're one of us! That makes 3.
New strip looks class, nice and retro (although I'd never wear one in Glasgow due to the lunatics) but I'm not used to T's new branding. Surely a red T would have looked more appropriate than comic sans bold or whatever they are using.

Hmm. Do you want Bullard? Go on, have Bullard.

Too pricey for the SPL, so says the only club with money.

The Southampton kits are lovely, but not quite up to 'shirt of the season' for me. I'll wager oscillatewildly approves of the big red sash, mind.

I'm not a big fan of the sash either.

Speaking of traditional kits, it's about time Arsenal went back to the full white sleeves (instead of red sleeves with a white shoulder stripe). Arsenal = red shirt / white sleeves. And the yellow away kit too, so it's all back to the way it should be and the glory days of actually winning things will return as well now. It's all in the kit, I say! ;)

No red trim at all on the sleeves would be better imo, but it's still a vast improvement.

Yep, it's good to see the white sleeves return though as you say the cuff is a little thick – it could have done with being a tad thinner. But a nice traditional shirt.

For the away shirt, it's nice to see that Arsenal are paying tribute to Bradford City with their second choice polyester rag...

Unconfirmed rumours are that Arsenal's 'European' third kit for the new season will be based on Huddersfield Town's strip. :D

Forget shirts, France's most famous cheat has just officially made the move to the Red Bulls. :D

Stupid name for a club, but they have lots of money and a very nice stadium.

I know it was the worst-kept secret in the league, but it's another big player going to the MLS. Not as martketable as Becks, but a better player and one without any other playing commitments. I can't wait to see Columbus thrash them.

In far less fun news, Torres is confirmed to have a torn muscle. I'm beginnning to think he's officially injury-prone. I just hope that Hodgson and the new physios can manage him better than the previous staff did. :(

I think the English game suits him actually, though he would fit well in any league because he is a pure center forward.

I don't think he's injury-prone because he's cold and wet in England though; it's because he was played when not fully fit too often.

I don't mind the basic design, but once again a sponsor logo ruins the look. Kappa's logo can be a bit excessive though.

[Mini-Rant] I have a bone to pick with the English media...as soon as the Henry to NY announcement was made, the English papers whipped out their Ignorant Generalizations hat, put it on, and began to open their mouths to rip up the MLS as a "retirement league" etc. etc. I'd just like to note that the USA team that helped send England off to be taught a footballing lesson by the Germans was largely initially developed in the MLS and then honed abroad almost entirely outside the self-proclaimed "Best League in the World". That is all.[/Mini Rant]

Now I feel better. :D

Here's something I learned today, do you know why Celtic and Rangers have the same shirt sponsors?
I'd heard it's because there's a concern that supporters of Team A would boycott the goods/services of Team B's sponsor, and vice versa – so as to avoid scaring potential sponsors off they go for joint deals.

Dunno if this is true, but I'm sure that one of our Scottish chums can inform us on this matter.

If you're not playing in the Premier League you're a nobody. If you used to play in the Premier League but don't any more, you're a washed up nobody whose best days are behind you.

Ignorant Generalisations – be they football-based or on other matters – are a staple part of our national press. Pay them no heed, and give Henry a boo from me when he visits Ohio. ;)

That's what I heard too.
