Looking at our lineup tonight, looks like King Kenny has sprung for the rare 5-5-0 formation.

We have a bad record with Stoke. I would like nothing better than to beat them away from home...then we can say we've done it on a cold Wednesday night in Stoke, which is somehow considered more difficult than a warm, sunny day away at Old Trafford.

Hmm. Two Nevilles would be Neville Neville, the name of their dad...

That is one of those factoids that is simply too weird to make up.

Stoke's in the Midlands though your Lordship, so it's not like doing it on a cold, wet night in Bolton...

Well, you can't have everything. Let's see how we do against the potters, and then we can talk about moving on to colder, wetter nights in Bolton.

Rory Delap and his towel are on the bench.

Torres who? Kenny is so far still undefeated at Anfield. Three wins in a row now as well.

Sunday's match against Chelsea should be the cruncher.

City now 8pts behind having played a game more. They have Viera to thank for that.

Other debut scorers were Sturridge for Bolton and Keane for West Ham.

...and Suarez scores on his debut for Liverpool.

Could hardly ask for more from Suarez. An excellent debut.

Suarez has been overshadowed somewhat by the Carroll signing, but we shouldn't forget that he is actually our main man until further notice. Suarez is the finished product, a proven goalscorer with plenty of international experience. Carroll is still more or less a prospect, and we won't see him for a month or more anyway.

It should also be pointed out that Miereles appears to have settled in pretty well, depsite lots of early criticism. I wouldn't call him a star player, but a very solid memeber of the squad nonetheless.

But he's still to prove he can get a win on a cold, wet night in... oh, never mind. :p:p

It's official. :D

We still don't have a top-caliber team, but if both Suarez and Carroll pan out they represent a long-term solution to our attacking needs.

Decent start by Suarez

Especially when you consider he's not played in over a month and didn't even have a chance to train with the club before playing. He (almost) literally got off the plane, signed a few papers, was handed his kit, and scored a goal. A good start. :)

I'm just glad we were able to finally punish Stoke for parking the bus in their own stadium. It could have been 3 or 4 if Kuyt finished his chances.

I would. Or a star in the making. At least under Kenny. 3 goals in 4 matches now when he hadn't scored anything at all before. He was signed as a defensive midfielder, but he's obviously now been told he can go and score as well, which he's obviously good at, so we should see his name more often now. He keeps it up he'll easily exceed Lampard and Gerrard as a goalscoring midfielder.

You never know, he may really find his groove at Liverpool. Gerrard is going to attract markers, which will probably give Miereles a little more space to operate. 3 goals in 4 games is impressive, but only time will till if he becomes a regular goal threat or if he is made use of in other ways. Even when he first arrived, he showed an inclination to shoot, so he has a certain attacking predisposition.

Still, it would take a pretty special player to surpass Stevie G as Liverpool's main goalscoring threat from midfield.

Not really a surprise considering our recent run of results and Milan Mandric's patience, but we're now looking for a new manager

Early hat candidate is Sloth, and as much as I liked him in The Goonies, his management career of late makes me worried. Unless of course Chunk agrees to be assistant manager

While not directly football related, I just read this article which makes for interesting reading regarding Sky's stranglehold on EPL games here in the UK

Football consistently appears to think it's immune from EU laws (first example ended up with the Bosman ruling) that all other businesses have to adhere to. I can see some frantic negotiations between Sky and the EPL coming up. But maybe steps have already been taken - I had the kids packed off to bed early last night, beer in the fridge and then couldn't find a single source of the Rangers game on those websites.:( Had to make do with the text service.

Run, Fizzy - run like the wind!

Didn't do much for your lot, did he?

I wonder if this case will develop very far - it certainly could impact the league directly, cutting down drastically on TV revenue to clubs. But then again, isn't that what started this mad spending in the first place?

It's alright, Fizzy – word is that it's not Dowie Wednesday are looking to appoint. :)

Its Megson!

I really hope it isn't Megson. Apart from a pretty good spell at West Brom he hasn't really achieved a great deal and generally gets sacked. Many of the fans would like Chris Hughton. Not sure he's a realistic target. He certainly seems a decent chap but he did have a huge budget and a <ahem> £35m striker which helped him win promotion and without sounding like Mike Ashely, we do want someone with more experience. So on that note, I think we'll end up with Megson. After all, it is the club he supported as a boy!
