Heart? I thought it was the hand of God?

The hand of God thing seemed to the on the Green Bay team this season until their loss. It's still a safe bet to say they will get take the SB but a perfect season is not in the cards for them this year.

When a team locks up the division, and then gets a bye week, playing for much more with risk to injury to the starters is simply not worth it. After mid-season, the injuries start to pile up.

Even though I am a 49ers fan and don't think much of the offense, the D can be very scary when all pistons are firing. While it would be nice for Pittsburgh fans to see the Steelers win tonight, it's not worth it to put a season ending injury on the already battered Big Ben. They have to be safe and make sure he's all healthy very soon to make it through the tough AFC side. The Niners are going to smell blood and see a less than perfect Steelers QB and go in hard.

Wow...20-3!

Who was that guy for the Direct TV report... lmao!

Ok apparently it is Jon Sutcliffe with ESPN Deportes. Regardless, and sure I'll apologize, he is a meekly accented little fellow, isn't he?

I don't know who caught SNL last weekend but this skit was great.

amazing!

I had to Google Tebow to see if he was really a Mormon. Talented Mormon quarterbacks pretty much have an exclusive contract with my SF 49ers. :)

QBs who look like fashion models or who are married to them end up with New England.

...and QBs who have serious issues with the law end up in the state of Pennslyvania.

Or the Raiders! Although I suppose that's not just limited to QBs. :)

And the Chargers are making their move! Look out Denver!

First, thank you for the hand with the AFC #1 seed, we here in New England heartily appreciate it. :D

I was very impressed with San Francisco's defense last night. They're fast, smart, and relentless. They're going to be a handful, for sure. Unfortunately, their field goal offense was pretty underwhelming.

That puts them in good company with the Packers, Patriots, Ravens, Saints, etc. as teams that are far superior in one phase of the game, and not so hot in the other. The playoffs should be exciting this year.

Glad to see the 49ers take it to the Steelers last night.

Me too. Playing Ben Roethlisberger on one leg was really dumb of the Steelers. They're lucky he didn't injure his ankle further. He looked really ineffective. If he can't roll out of the pocket and make those throws on the run, he's not nearly as good.

I can see him playing because they were trying to get the number one seed in the AFC. However, they should have taken him out when it was clear that they weren't going to win. No sense in risking further injury.

Ben is one guy who can stay in one place and still make great things happen. I think he just couldn't aim, either. Of course, having both legs be healthy goes a great deal towards passing accuracy. He didn't have the usual zing on the ball, nor the accuracy.

Part of Ben's magic is that he can still have pretty bad game but come back in the 4th. Last night was a disaster and the Steelers should really protect their most important asset. They were lucky nothing really bad happened to him, or so we think. While I like the way my 49ers are an aggressive pass rush team, their couple of late hits on Ben were ruthless and uncalled for. Though I didn't see any blatant hits to the ankle, getting landed on in the head so late was some dirty play. Being as big as he is, Ben is a really easy target and his size does not protect him much if two defenders are coming down on him that hard. Yes, take down all opposing QBs, but don't use such cheap shots.

The current D reminds me of some of the hard hitting and outright intimidation, when things were more permissive, of old 49ers guys like Reynolds and Lott. The Niners have the most takeaways this year of any team and their style of play can beat a good offense if they don't get too many penalties.

If the Niners meet GB in the playoffs, I don't know what they will do against someone like Rodgers who releases the ball, and to more potential receivers, faster than anybody in the QB position.

Really? I didn't see any cheap shots, myself, but I guess I'll need to look at some of the last plays again as I started to swap between Clippers/Lakers and MNF in the waning moments. The 49ers didn't look to be making any cheap shots, they just weren't easing up. Which is smart football. In my opinion, it's their job to hit the QB as much and as often as possible. It's the Steelers' call to leave Roethlisberger out there in the 4th quarter with 4 minutes to play, down by 17 points, and about as mobile as an o-lineman in cement shoes. Why should they stop going after him if he's dropping back again and again? Pittsburgh should be protecting their QB, not San Francisco.

Ben got hit hard, and when in context of fair play, that's OK.

It's no secret than when a questionable QB goes out there with an injury, he's dead meat. Yes, that's pro football I guess. But when a QB is down, he's down, not a target lying down asking to be hit. Of course, it's easy for us to say what is a cheap hit and what is an honest mistake. Either way, the Niners are fierce out there and the main reason they have won 11 games.

I am curious how the D will look against GB if they meet in postseason. How do you think the Niners would contain Rodgers? The 49ers have a great way of knowing where the ball is going to be passed, and getting there.

The thing with Rodgers is that harassing him, knocking him down, hurrying him in the pocket and generally making him uncomfortable is imperative if you expect to beat Green Bay. That said, Rodgers is capable of getting the ball out very quickly when he needs to, which means he can adjust to the pass rush.

Rodgers is also mobile; he can run very well. That makes constant blitzes dangerous. The Niners' secondary will need to play smart and cover extremely well. The Chiefs did it with a number of different blitz packages as well as playing tight coverage throughout.

As I said before :)rolleyes:), I didn't see the Packers going undefeated, but doing what the Chiefs did isn't an easy thing. The Niners showed me last night that they certainly have a shot. The problem will be if their offense can score enough points. The Packers defense gives up a ton of yards, but not necessarily a ton of points.

When did the Niners late hit Roethlisberger or hit him when he was already down? I can't recall a single penalty for that. I guess I'm just a ruthless bi***, because if I had your defense, I'd be absolutely thrilled with last night's performance. :D

I wasn't buying how Mike and Mike were gushing about the SF defense this morning. Roethlisbrgr was clearly not comfortable playing on that ankle. I saw the two early interceptions and an overthrown pass to a wide open receiver that were just plain uncharacteristic of him. Pitt gave SF that game by playing Big Ben

 and i'm sure the team you forecast to beat the pack was the chiefs (and anything can happen when your star receiver and entire offensive line is injured.)

And of course, the Chiefs were playing fully healthy.

Stop being a spoil sport. Everyone, including you, never expected them to go undefeated. While I agree that losing to the Chiefs was embarrassing and unexpected - it happened. Plenty of teams have had injuries this year. So, let's not jump on that train.

The Texans are on their 3rd string QB and have been without their star receiver for half the season. Plenty of teams have it worse than yours.

No kidding, the Chiefs have lost their starting QB *and* their star running back (2500+ yards in the last two seasons), among others. Try winning against a good team without Rodgers and Starks/Grant (they still have fewer yards combined than Jamaal Charles).

Anyway.

Man, I love having stuff in writing.

Also, no way the Packers are going 16-0.

It's not so much a single team as it's like you said, they haven't looked like an unbeatable juggernaut to me.

Anyway. I just found out I'll be at the Dolphins/Patriots game on Christmas Eve. Please don't let it snow, lol, I've been living in SoCal too long and I can't handle the cold like I used to. ;)

I guess you didn't understand my reply, but I'll leave it at that.

What was hard to understand? It seems like you took her post as some sort of "I told you so" and your response was half whining/half making excuses....it seems like you are letting your emotions get in the way of your reading comprehension.

Go get a manicure...they always make me feel better. :D

Then why don't you enlighten us Mr. Cagey?

because I really don't want to start a war with the ladies, this is a forum and all in good fun after all. ;)

Just go back and read the posts and it should become apparent if you really need it :)

Whatever you say, Chief. :D

If I was a cynic I'd almost call that a racial jab :D
