On a brighter note, The Boys won and TR didn't throw a pick but threw two touchdowns! Could this be the start of our run!!!!?:D:):D :D:)

I hope so.... It would really be nice if they beat Buffalo next week. And I have TR on my fantasy team

Right, because the Patriots eliminated themselves in the playoffs last year

Uh, that fake punt had nothing to do with the Jets. You know, the one that Patrick Chung fumbled on New England's 25? Then there was the 4th and 13 pass that Deion Branch dropped, or the onside kick that got recovered by the Jets on the Patriot 20. Unless you really want to admit that the Jets are a better team than the Patriots, they most certainly outsmarted themselves in that one with the worst playcalling this side of Marty Schottenheimer.

Well if the Patriots players didnt make the plays they needed to make then they deserved to lose, thats usually the way it goes in any sport. If the play call was bad blame your coaching staff but dont make it seem like the Jets did nothing and the game was handed to them.... The point is that teams are figuring out how to play defense against the Patriots and stop Brady.... Which exposes that wonderful defense who couldn't keep a pee-wee team out of the endzone.

Exactly right...The Jets went into Foxboro in January and beat them. Did the Pats make mistakes? Yes. Is Belichick not the genius everyone thinks he is? Probably not.

But the fact of the matter is that the Jets went there and played better than the Patriots did, which is why they won the game. The Pats made mistakes and the Jets didn't.

I think that the Pats are probably a better team...but let's give the Jets a little credit here.

...wont succeed against better NFL defenses if the Broncos keep playing option offense.

However, he has to become a better NFL QB that doesn't depend on the option. He was a great college player but not quite good enough against NFL defenses

yer right... and i think it will happen. i spent a lot of my afternoon yelling at the raider defense... "tackle him!"...

Yeah. They'll lose at least 4 of the games remaining in their schedule.

So the Oakland defense couldn't execute against them. Do you think everyone else will make the same mistake? When I say he won't succeed, I mean he won't be the amazing qb that he was in NCAA. He only has the skills of present for 2 to 3 years, in that time he absolutely needs to adjust his mechanics and reading of the game. Maybe I'm wrong though and he'll be 35 years old running the option still and be wearing a few Super Bowl rings.

In real life... Im really proud of the Giants in how they stepped it up against a team in a game that everyone said they couldn't win. They havea grueling schedule now, against some of the best teams in the NFL and came up with the best possible start.

Jacobs didn't get many yards, but a game with great defensive displays on both sides, he played well and really did what he was good at.

Boley played great. Giving up that td late, he didn't really have any chance as it looks like he made a decision to cover the TE rather than blitz.

Manning is really a great player at the moment. He's been really consistent and made much better decisions this year. He has brought the Giants back into so many games and managed the clock really well to get big wins.

Ballard has been the replacement for Boss that we were so desperate for. Disappointed that Beckum was nowhere near the standard so far though.

Cruz has had a great rookie year so far. Made some costly rookie mistakes, but made some great plays with a lot of yards after catch and broken some big tackles. We didn't have a full team for most of this season and losing bradshaw was a knock, but the team is resilient. With players coming back, we might do better in this run of games than the pundits expect.

he he he... sadly, no. and i agree with you, he will have to change his game. i think he already has, a little bit anyway. elway was still running around a bit when he won his two rings, of course he wasn't running the option. that bit cracked me up. the broncos shaped the offense to match his current skill set. but i had stated elsewhere(on a different forum) that is what i'd do. he strikes me as the kind of guy who just won't quit. so i think he will get better... super bowls... i don't know. a lot of great qb's/players have not won the big one. is that the only yard stick for measuring greatness though?

that said, you realize that i am a raider fan, right? just giving props to the boy. he beat us this time.

ELI/NY GIANTS: they impressed me very much this weekend. the whole team did really. i thought they were going to lose that one. coughlin still one of my fave coaches. as for eli - i would like to see him, or his brother, win one more SB before they retire...

ive been busy and on vacation and stuff for the past couple weeks, haven't been on here much. just popped in to point out the above thing i bolded. :D;)

don't know if anyone saw or not, but last week when they won, Brady and hoodie tied Marino and Shula for most wins by a coach/qb combo. Marino and Shula were 116-68 (.630). Brady and Belichick are 116-33 (.779). thats crazy. makes me really appreciate what we have had over the past 10 years as pats fans

I think there's no city who can claim to have as good a team as the Pats, however, like any great franchise, it has to end some day. I don't know if NE's dominance will end with Brady or Belichick retiring, but all good things come to an end.

While the Pats may have one more trip to the SB in them, the NFL is making way for the new dynasties. That being said the Pats of the previous decade could very well be the most dominant team in any decade during the Super Bowl years. Where the Packers and Niners were most dominant on offense in their decades of a dynasty, and the Steelers being most obvious on defense in their great run, perhaps only the 90s Cowboys dynasty was as well balanced as the 2000s Pats were.

The Pats were, and still retain a GREAT offense and GREAT defense, but I think their high level of play on both fronts is over for them.

In their loss to the Giants, a younger Brady would have handily made many of those unsuccessful attempts and easily won the game. This game against the Giants reminded me of when Green Bay started to make their Favre led descent. While I still think GB kept up a strong defense, Favre started to miss out on plays he had no business bungling up and I think this was due to his age and injuries though Favre was the best mid-30s QB anyone could ask for (but he wasn't the same 20-something Favre). I am seeing the start of this decline in Brady but Brady in this possible decline will still play his last years with stats far better than starting QBs of most teams.

If the Pats go to one more big game, which I am starting to doubt though, it would be fun to see them go against the Giants and win. Not only would Tom get his 4th ring to match his idol Joe Montana, but somehow NE could get that monkey (NY Giants) off their back. With the loss of the SB and then this high profile regular season loss to the Giants, the Pats have unfinished business, and Tom has one more game he needs to have with Eli before one or both retire. If Eli and the Giants never win another SB, they will always say that they owned the Pats, or owned them when it counted the most. As a Niners fan, I almost saw Montana retire with one monkey on their back, which was the unbeatable Elway and his Broncos. Montana finally did get his wish and the Niners finally beat the one team they couldn't in their dynasty years.

My prediction is that Brady won't see another SB but will see two or maybe three trips to the postseason which is two or three trips many first string QBs starting right now will never see in their entire careers. I hope Brady quits when NE is still a winning team and doesn't end up playing past his prime the way Montana did with the Chiefs and Favre and Marino did in their last years.

Falcons - Saints
Battle for the NFC South
'nuff said

Shoot...

I'll see your Falcons - Saints and raise you Patriots - Jets. :D

There's going to be a lot of really good games this weekend. I'm also interested in seeing the Giants - 49'ers play. I'm wondering if the 49'ers are the real deal, or will they start coming back to earth a little bit. And will there be a letdown for the Giants after that huge win?

Wait what???? new england is dominating this year??? hmmmmmmmm...........

My 49ers are doing better as for wins-losses than the Pats, but I still think NE is a better team. NE is tops in passing yards, second in total yards, and fifth in points scored per game. Sure, they have not used that to their best effect so far, but chances are they will finish out the season better than they started it. I don't doubt they will at least make the playoffs. They are 16th in rushing yards and that certainly does not help. I think Brady is doing his part in moving the ball, but in a crucial third down and short, with a mediocre rushing game, there's a lot of time being wasted.

I want the Niners to go all the way, but they have some stuff to work out and though I don't want them to fall back to earth, they probably will this season. If for some reason the Niners have an entire season of strong play, then I will be pleasantly surprised. :)

There's only one team in the NFC with a stronger record, but there's a world of difference between the Packers and the Niners.

The pats just are not th team they once were. The Brady era is over and making way for the Rodgers era. Aaron Rodgers numbers and efficiency is just phenomenal this season, but the packers defense, especially pass rush, is weak. The niners are good, but theyve played a fairly weak schedule. I dont see them going far this year, but the future looks bright.

Rodgers is totally insane. His numbers remind me of when Kurt Warner could do no bad and he led the greatest show on turf. If Rodgers keeps this season up, he will have the best season ever for any QB. Rodgers has youth, talent, and a great group of targets.

You know I love my Patriots, but I'm not so sure I'd say that.

Our defense isn't that great, our secondary is depleted, and Brady has made lots of errors under pressure lately. When he does that, we look very ordinary, as he's always been able to cover the team's flaws.

In a way, playing the Jets couldn't have come at a better time, because the Patriots need a gut check in the worst way. On the other hand, playing them when we're in the midst of a slide isn't ideal.

Basically I think this game is going to require that I drink a lot.

This is the scariest part of the game for me on Sunday. I hate playing good teams that are on a losing streak...especially when that team is our rival.

And I'm probably going to want to drink a lot as well...I just have to figure out a way to sneak the booze into work. :D
