Nebraska Bo knows

Bo crys when he loses too many big games. He's in a soft confrence now but he's still losin em.Too bad so sad. Boomer Sooner!
Hooray for jumping ship to another conference!

The season's early yet, but we have Utah (0-2 PAC-12), Colorado (0-1 PAC-12), and Nebraska (0-1 Big 10) stinking it up big time in their new homes, and TAMU got handled by their future roomie in the SEC West. Way to represent, guys. </sarcasm>

My thoughts on yesterday's action:

I didn't expect Wisconsin to have such a relatively easy time against Nebraska.

Texas appears to be "back," and Oklahoma rolled up the points on Ball State before taking the second half off and playing the subs. Next week's game in Dallas should be a good one.
Nebraska got tired of losing games to teams in the south division in the Big 12(9).Bo came from the Big 10 but he doesn" have a game left that he shouldn't win against some real powerhouse teams in the Big 10.If Bo loses too many more he'll start crying.Boomer Soonernyone who turned off the A&M-Arkansas game at halftime yesterday missed a great second half.

I didn't think Kansas State looked good so much as Baylor made too many mistakes, but that's probably more a symptom of KSU's slow, methodical style than anything. The Mildcats have quietly opened the season 4-0.

No games

Anyone know why so many Michigan games are on the Big Ten Network this year? Counting this upcoming Saturday, only 2 of 7 games have been on channels I actually get.

Too bad you don't play Nebraska this year they don't have much left in the Big.Michigan could probably beat em bout like they did n.d.

CBS Sports reporting that not only has TCU been invited to the Big 12 but they offer has been accepted. Announcement at 12:30 ET.

A "source" inside Missouri's administration said that the Big 10 was their first love and the SEC is a backup plan. Wonder how THAT'S going to go over in the next SEC presidents' meeting.

I think the SEC should tell them to go take a hike, but I know that probably won't happen. They would much rather have 14 than 13 teams, and I doubt they will get any other teams that would open up new TV markets, since that is what is driving this whole thing. Personally, I would like to see a team like NC State join. It's a new market, and I think they would fit better with the SEC. But that's just my opinion.

Wow- that's a big deal. Looks like the Big 12 isn't going anywhere.

@Mizzou: The SEC would be making a big mistake to take them, but I really don't think they're even going to consider it.

From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

The Big 12 Conference has invited TCU to become its 10th member, the league announced this morning.

TCU athletic department officials were scheduled to meet at 11:30 this morning to discuss the matter, a source said. The Board of Trustees is expected to approve the move within a week, sources said.

"These discussions with the Big 12 have huge implications for TCU," TCU Chancellor Victor Boschini Jr. said in a written statement. "It will allow us to return to old rivalries, something our fans and others have been advocating for many years. As always, we must consider what’s best for TCU and our student-athletes in this ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics. We look forward to continuing these discussions with the Big 12."

TCU said and Big 12 officials said they would have no further comment today.

"We’re proud that TCU has been invited to join the Big 12," Texas men's athletics director Deloss Dodds said in a written statement. "Their commitment to academics and success on the field make them an excellent fit. With a solid budget and strong financial support, they have been proactive at improving facilities. Their close proximity to all conference institutions makes for a comfortable travel situation."

In a statement issued by school officials, Oklahoma president David Boren called TCU an “excellent choice as a new member of the conference.” He also said: “There could be other additions in the future.”

Boren has publicly pushed for the league to recapture its 12-team configuration in efforts to stabilize the conference. Dodds has expressed support for a 10-member league.

A Big 12 source who participated in Thursday’s conference call with league presidents said there was no majority opinion among participants about the ideal stopping point in terms of membership. But the Big 12’s five-member expansion committee, which includes Dodds and Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione, has not been disbanded.

The source said Missouri officials did not vote on any actions taken Thursday, in regard to TCU or other league-related matters, and did not offer any clarity about whether the school planned to remain in the league or preferred to seek another conference affiliation. TCU is scheduled to join the Big East for 2012 but that league recently lost Pittsburgh and Syracuse to the Atlantic Coast Conference. TCU would replace Texas A&M, which is leaving for the Southeastern Conference. Missouri is also interested in joining the SEC.

If Missouri leaves for the SEC, the Big 12’s next invitation could be extended to Brigham Young. Both TCU and BYU offer unique flexibility in regard to 2012 football scheduling options -- as well as long-term value -- to a league that soon may have two vacancies on next year’s football schedules.

TCU can legally get out of its commitment to join the Big East next year, if it chooses. BYU is an independent in football. Both schools could be added to a 2012 Big 12 football schedule that no longer includes A&M -- and soon may be minus Missouri -- without significantly disrupting existing schedules in other leagues.

Other expansion candidates include Boise State and three existing Big East members: Louisville, Cincinnati and West Virginia.

Big 12 officials have looked at models for a conference consisting of nine, 10, 12 or 16 teams.

The Big 12 officially has been a nine-member league since Sept. 26, when Texas A&M accepted an invitation to join the SEC. TCU, a member of the Mountain West, has a long history with existing Big 12 members Texas, Texas Tech and Baylor dating back to those schools’ days as members of the Southwest Conference.

The SWC disbanded after the 1995-96 school year, when four league members -- A&M, Texas, Tech and Baylor -- joined the existing members of the Big Eight to form what is now the Big 12. TCU has been a member of the Western Athletic Conference, Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference since leaving the SWC.

Good for TCU. They got unjustly hosed by Tech and Baylor politicians 16 years ago, but they're finally going to be at the big dance. The problem now is competing with the big boys now that they're at the table. The last time they were in a big conference, they sucked for 40 years straight. Hopefully Patterson sticks around long enough to continue building on the foundation they created in the MWC. I can't really think of any reason he'd leave now, anyway...

Baylor is actually coming out a big winner because, despite their hilarious/embarrassing posturing, they get to stay in a BCS conference AND they get a perfect rival in TCU (two religion-affiliated schools, only 80 miles apart, bitter hatred because of past politics, long history, etc.).

The real loser in this expansion stuff is Texas Tech, though. With A&M leaving, they're losing the team they love to hate the most. They'll still have some good hate when they play Texas and they'll get fired up for OU, but they won't really have that game to circle every year like they always have with the Aggies. All that should make this weekend's game even more bitter than normal.

Personally, I wouldn't mind playing Tech in football every year if the little girls in Austin really are too afraid to play us anymore. Maybe even as replacement for the game in Arlington vs Arkansas if it's decided that a conference game shouldn't be at a neutral site (not that I have a problem with it).

I'm really pumped for this weekend. Tension has been high here all week for the OU v.s. Texas game. Thinking it'll be a good game, but not a very high chance that Texas wins.

I think LSU is going to tromp Florida.. if Alabama manhandled them that bad last week, I'm sure LSU can do the same- or worse.

Arkansas v.s. Auburn should be interesting- I'm saying Arkansas by two touchdowns.

Honestly, I don't think we have the strength to hang with OU either. But it's TX/OU - stranger things have happened. We didn't even belong on the same field as the Sooners last year and kept it close. That's why they play the game!

I'm sure it will be a great game and it'll be closer than expected- I haven't thought it would be a blowout anytime in recent years. It is a really fun game as things just tend to happen.

How about a little love for the Dawg - Vol game?
Winner is in a good position for the East and the right to lose in the SEC Championship Game to the eventual BCS NC

Hahahahaha. Great response. Seriously, though, the excuses Dodds has given for not wanting to continue the game (on Thanksgiving or otherwise) are retarded. If it's not fear (meaning they would rather play Rice or UTEP with that third [or fourth if the B12 goes back to 12] nonconference game) then it's just plain pettiness ("You didn't do what we said to do so were not going to play you anymore!").

Sad, especially given the ESPN-led smear campaign that claims it's A&M that is ruining college football and destroying rivalries.

That behavior on the part of ESPN and others bothers me. Great rivalries transcend conference affilitations. OU-UT was a great rivalry for decades when it was Big 8 vs. SWC. USC-ND. FSU-Miami. Army-Navy. Those games were big whether the teams were conference rivals or not.

I love those! Tennessee fans should feel right at home with those! :D

I don't really hate UT, but that color scheme is really obnoxious. Any kind of orange and white just reminds me of road construction. I do REALLY hate Rocky Top, though. Ugh.

I really don't see any reason why Texas and Texas A&M can't continue to play each other every year. There are plenty of out-of-conference rivals who play every year. I'm sure a rivalry like, say Georgia and Georgia Tech hasn't lessened any since GT left the SEC. I'm sure MacDawg just loves the Ramblin' Wreck.

Hey, how 'bout them Buckeyes? Oh wait...

I'm not exactly looking forward to the game tomorrow, especially with the extra suspensions.

Yeah, that's BS. Personally, I think Delo$$ got his vag hurt when you guys went off to the SEC. I'm a UT grad and Longhorn through and through, but I haven't been happy with the way we've been acting, and part of me is glad A&M gave us the big F U and went off to do their own thing.

As far as I'm concerned, OU is the bigger rivalry, but A&M is family. This falling out is gonna hurt Texas in the long run, but I think it's a lesson we need to learn.

Holy crap man, you're supposed to talk smack about your conference opponents, not constantly fellate them! I don't think I've seen a fan from another school have his head so far up LSU and Alabama's ass. ;)

I hate the Gators™

SEC sucks :p

Not so fast my friend - Lee Corso

I will readily admit anything can happen and often does
But LSU and Alabama are playing better against tougher competition than anyone else in the country right now

I call 'em as I see 'em

This.

What LSU has done—despite the early season suspensions of some key players—is nothing short of remarkable. Alabama's last two games have proved they are on a different level, as well.

I think the rest of the SEC is a little down from last year:

  • Despite the early season hype about Muschamp, Florida is probably worse than they were last year (especially without one—or both—of their QBs)
  • UGA and UT look like 7-5 or 6-6 teams, though today's winner might have a shot at 8 wins
  • Auburn doesn't play defense and doesn't have Scam Newton
  • Arkansas doesn't play defense
  • South Carolina doesn't have a QB
  • Mississippi St is inexplicably worse
  • Ole Miss might be the worst team in D-I
