Holy crap man, you're supposed to talk smack about your conference opponents, not constantly fellate them! I don't think I've seen a fan from another school have his head so far up LSU and Alabama's ass. ;)

The SEC East is very weak right now. The division winner may very well only have 8 or so wins, while the West winner will likely have at least 10-11. Yes, LSU and Alabama are that good.

LOL. you're gonna be surprised this year my friend. SEC sucks :p

Have you actually watched an SEC game? LSU manhandled Oregon (the second SEC West team to do so in the past few months), while Oregon is back to destroying the Pac 12. Alabama easily handled Penn State and Arkansas (we saw what that offense can do last week). Yes, they are that good. Wisconsin is the only Big 10 team that is a legit threat, mostly due to Russell Wilson. That guy is the real deal, and NC State was stupid for running him off.

This.

What LSU has done—despite the early season suspensions of some key players—is nothing short of remarkable. Alabama's last two games have proved they are on a different level, as well.

I think the rest of the SEC is a little down from last year:

  • Despite the early season hype about Muschamp, Florida is probably worse than they were last year (especially without one—or both—of their QBs)
  • UGA and UT look like 7-5 or 6-6 teams, though today's winner might have a shot at 8 wins
  • Auburn doesn't play defense and doesn't have Scam Newton
  • Arkansas doesn't play defense
  • South Carolina doesn't have a QB
  • Mississippi St is inexplicably worse
  • Ole Miss might be the worst team in D-I

Pretty much dead on. We lost two NFL linebackers, and a first rounder at LT, and a four year starter at center. Unlike LSU and Bama, we can't just replace that kind of talent. And our already thin OL has lost 3 starters this year. I expected a drop off this year, but at this point, 6-6 is looking like a struggle. Thank goodness for non-conference pansies. :)

Oh yeah, Ole Miss is in serious trouble. It's so bad a group of boosters and alumni calling themselves "Forward Rebels" have been taking out full page newspaper ads calling for firing not only Houston Nutt, but also the AD and the university chancellor.

That wasn't my point. If OU and A&M were by far the two best teams in the country, I certainly wouldn't give them the satisfaction by bragging about it!

And ugh - OU is handling us quite easily. Still have lots of work to do.

It's not really bragging, just more like accepting your fate. It's just stating facts. :(

And I agree with OU/UT. While the Horns are vastly improved from last year, I suspected they had a way to go vs. top level competition.

My hatred runs for the teams in the East
I hate the Gators™ and you have NEVER seen my say anything positive about them
Same is true of Tennessee
And Ga Tech

The West is a different beast
While I have no love for LSU or Alabama, the one thing the have going for them is they aren't the Gators :)

Maybe I just hate everybody. :)

Yuck - OU scored again. This is gonna be a loooong day. Is 10:12am too early to start drinking?

My thoughts on the first half:

Texas' young QB's are being exposed today. Their inexperience is really showing; I've never been a fan of platooning the QB position, one of these two could have had twice as much experience if he had simply been given the reins early in the season.

OU's defense is playing lights out today - they'd be able to beat anybody playing like this.

The hype coming in was that the team who finishes with the most rushing yards always wins the game. OU has ten rushing yards at the half against 302 (!) passing.

Also, Texas sucks. :D

Early upset alerts:

  • Mississippi St down 0-3 to UAB late in the 3rd Quarter.
  • Florida St down 14-16 to Wake Forest at halftime (was 16-7 WF at one point)

While the Horns are vastly improved from last year, I suspected they had a way to go vs. top level competition.

Yes they got revenge by beating two bad teams they lost to (Iowa St and UCLA) but they only lost to OU by a score of 28-20 last year, so I'm not sure they are "vastly improved".

It could just be that OU is really clicking, but if that was the case they probably wouldn't have had to settle for FGs twice in the first quarter or given up the long KO return. I think the reality is that OU is really good and Texas's offense still sucks (just like last year).

Currently 41-10
Texas taking it bending over and saying "thanks, I'll have another"

Wonder if the Longhorn network will replay this one as an instant classic?

I don't know what the hell is going on. 14 quarters without an offensive TD. Backup QB Tyler Russell has been in the second half and has led two TD drives, though. Something is seriously wrong with Chris Relf.

Anyway, I think you are just letting your hatred get in the way. :) At least they beat said crappy teams this year instead of losing to them. The Horns have already won almost as many games as they did all of last season. After a losing season, a winning season and a decent bowl game this year would be a vast improvement.

Dunno if we're improved or not. I think we can still beat Kansas, but it's very possible we go 0-fer on the rest of our schedule and end up the same as last season. OU is good, but they're not great.* Even a mediocre team should have an easier time than we're having.

We're young though - we'll get better. Maybe we'll beat Missouri too and go bowling!

* I thought about this some more a decided I should clarify - I define 'great' as a Top-5 team, and I don't think OU is quite there.

I don't think Texas is this bad
Nor is Oklahoma this good
I think these rivalry games can get out of hand and snowball
This is just one of those times when everything goes right on one side
And everything goes wrong on the other

Actually, this is probably bad for Oklahoma going forward
If they start believing they are this good, they will get surprised somewhere along the line
Maybe in Stillwater

Texas needs to use this humiliation as motivation

Supposedly they are replaying tonight at 8 on the LHN.

Maybe, but do you think it's possible that Iowa State and UCLA are just worse this year? Texas needed a miracle to beat BYU and trick plays just to score on Rice.

Also, they started 3-0 and were ranked #7 last year before they got exposed. Sound familiar?

I hope you're right - it'll be interesting to see how we do against middle of the road teams like Tech and Missouri. I can't see us beating the likes of oSu and A&M, and KSU has always had our number. I do think we can handle Kansas at home.

Wake 25 FSU 17 late in the 3rd

What a disappointment for FSU
Some saw them as a dark horse for the BCS NC
Very disappointing first half of the season
Especially with all of the highly touted recruiting classes they've been getting

That's part of the reason why I'm not sold on OU being a legit NC contender. That FSU win is looking less and less good as the season goes on, and even while watching OU wipe the field with us, I see a one dimensional offense that would be easily handled by an elite squad.

Which makes the nature of this loss that much more disappointing. I didn't think we'd win, but I thought it'd be more competitive. Perhaps I'm underestimating OU, but I'm afraid that I've just overestimated the Horns.

Oh. Okay.

EDIT: I guess you're right - Texas just scored an offensive TD, clearly exposing the Sooners as highly overrated.

I don't like OU, so if you think my opinion is biased, I understand. But looking at your offense and the whopping 81 yards of rushing you've put on our sorry ass team - do you really think that's gonna get it done against a team like Alabama? Or anyone in the Top-5?

they dont need to run when you can pick them apart passing> They are not having any issues running either...avg about 5 a carry

OU: 17 rushes for 81yd
UT: 42 rushes for 39 yd

OU: 31-52 for 367 yd passing
UT: 19-33 for 217 yd passing

Never mind that UT has had the ball for nearly 2x as long as OU and still getting embarrassed!

Way to go Texas- scoring your first offensive touchdown with 2:30 left in the 4th against a mostly backup squad.

Texas really is this bad. They're pathetic, and the fact that they are ranked #11 is a true farce. They have had an immensely easy schedule this year and have still struggled.

Anyone who says OU is not a top 5 is out of their minds. At this point, I'll be the first to admit that LSU and Alabama deserve the #1 and #2 spots- but we all know they won't finish the season there. Wisconsin is a good team, but the #4 spot is fitting for them. They have a very easy schedule (with the exception of last week at Nebraska, but that seemed pretty easy for them), and really don't have to prove themselves for the rest of the year.

OU has a much harder schedule than most people give them credit for. FSU was a great team when we played them. I won't include Texas because they were never a threat. Kansas State is nothing to laugh at, especially with how they played against Baylor last week. Texas A&M is also not a pushover, especially in the first half. Baylor has been a pretty solid team this year, with a bit of bad luck this week. OSU is a very solid team- that'll be the best game of the regular season for us. I don't see us losing any of these games, though.

FSU was a great team when we played them.

What? They're either great or they're not. It's not like they suddenly got worse only after they played you guys. And you go on and on about how terrible we are, which is true, but how can you turn around and beat your chest about how good you are? I just hope you don't squeak through the rest of your schedule and prevent Boise State or some other undefeated from playing in the title game, just so we can all witness you guys get humiliated yet again on the national stage.

Sigh...friggin' Sooners! :p

That's exactly what happened. We knocked out their starting QB, who only returned today.

A lot of good it did them today (although the game's not over). Anyway, like Abyssgh0st said, OU has a tough road, so there's plenty of opportunity for them to make a believer out of me. But I just don't see it quite yet.
