I can't believe those LSU players will only be getting a one-game suspension after testing positive for synthetic pot. What does that tell these kids? As long as you have enough talent, and you go to a big enough University, you can get away with whatever you want.

Meanwhile the NCAA suspends one of our players for four games because a booster let him use a car that had over 250,000 miles on it.

Yep. Makes perfect sense.

I am with you on that. I would say he should be kicked off the squad and loss of scholarship. If it was just a normal player that would of been the punishment.

I give LSU a slight edge but should be a great game

Agreed.

Receiving improper benefits (even when they are hilariously non-AQ style) is way worse in the eyes of the NCAA than is getting high, as well they should be.

Who gives a **** if some kid smoked FAKE pot? Thats not going to help him play football or benefit anyone. Is synthetic pot even illegal in Louisiana?

Nothing would happen to a normal student (even one on scholarship) for doing the same thing unless said student went to BYU where, apparently, everything fun is against the rules.

We'll agree to disagree.

Remember though, these student athletes are held to a much higher standard, which is required by their scholarships. They're supposed to be role models.

And as far as I know, the FDA has banned spice, and other similar drugs. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal in all 50 states.

I couldn't help but shake my head at your non-AQ comment. It's funny how non-AQ schools are looked down upon so much. I realize the comment was made in jest, but unfortunately it's true. Ah well. The comment was still funny. ;)

Just looked it up and it seems like it's a state-to-state thing. Synthetic marijuana has been banned in Louisiana since July 15. It's been banned in Alabama for about eight hours.

Boise has arrived on the field, but you've still got a bit of a learning curve when it comes to acting like you're the ****. If you're going to break the rules...smash them! That's what the big boys do ;)

Anybody still have doubts that LSU and Alabama are the two best teams in the country?

Yup I am with you on this one also. What a bunch of crap.

Of course you are, but I bet you'd be singing a different tune if it was Trent Richardson smoking fake pot.

Nope.. if he is doing something that he shouldn't be, shame on him and since it will hurt his team shame on him even more......... Don't get me wrong I would be pissed but I would be more pissed at him for letting the team and fans down. Not because he was busted and is now paying the piper with serving "X" game suspension.

Agreed.

*Unless, of course, said recruit goes on to win a Heisman and the BCS championship for a certain SEC school. Then it's perfectly ok.

And, yeah, BYU does seem to ban anything fun. :)

Oh.... :D

Looks like the Big East is starting to crumble.
The Big 12 has informed West Virginia it will be accepted into the conference once there is formal approval, which could come as soon as Tuesday, a source within the conference said.

West Virginia will be accepted into the conference as a replacement for Missouri, which the conference believes is departing for the SEC. The only thing holding up Missouri's departure is legal concerns, the source said.

Multiple media reports Tuesday said the Mountaineers were headed to the Big 12. The New York Times quoted a source as saying that the Mountaineers had both applied and been accepted. The Times reported that only legal entanglements are preventing the move from becoming official.

The Big 12 still wants Missouri to play in the conference next season, as it does not want to open the possibility of renegotiating its television contract if the league were to drop to nine teams.

The conference feels comfortable at 10 teams but will still consider 12 teams in the future, the source said.

At a Big 12 board of directors meeting on Monday, the conference urged Missouri to stay -- and Missouri chancellor Brady Deaton, who had been given by permission by the university's governing body to make decisions on the future of the university's athletic program, did not inform the conference that Missouri intended to leave.

But late Monday, Deaton gave some clue as to Missouri's intentions, giving a statement to KOMU-TV in Columbia, Mo. in which he wished the Big 12 "the best and all of that."

"There's no delays here at all," he said, referring to the school's step toward leaving the Big 12. "There's some very specific things that have to be addressed. We want to address those. We really can't rush these things. These are things you can't rush."

The conference feels comfortable at 10 teams but will still consider 12 teams in the future, the source said.

The Big 12 is adding West Virginia because of its football strength, having finished in the BCS standings in four of the past five years. The Mountaineers have also gone to the NCAA men's basketball tournament six of the past seven seasons.

The Big East could try to keep West Virginia for up to 20 months and it's expected negotiations on a waiting period will ensue.

The Big 12 is also discussing a conference media network, which a source said could even include content, if not games, related to the University of Texas, which founded its own Longhorn Network in association with ESPN.

Neither conference would confirm Monday that West Virginia was moving from the Big East to the Big 12.

West Virginia leaves, the next shoes to drop will be Rutgers and UConn.

So Big 12...

TAMU- Gone to SEC
Mizzou- Presumably going to the SEC

Incoming: TCU, WV

I wish we would invite Boise or some other decent program to get us back to 12 teams.

Don't forget:

Notre Dame- Told Big 12 to suck it
Arkansas- Told Big 12 to suck it
Air Force- Told Big 12 to suck it

I agree, though. The Big 12 should try to figure out a way to make it work with BYU (no baseball/softball/etc. on Sundays is a bit of a tough sell, but still) and invite the Mormons and Boise to join up. That would at least give some credibility back to the conference and stabilize it with members who actually want to be there.

I'm glad neither of those had any interest, and I don't really care about Arkansas. Either way, 12 teams has got to come sooner to later.

Do not mind him. He trying to cover up for the fact that in over the past 10 year A&M has had a few decent years, several of bad years (not bowl eligible) and two good years and no great years. This year is pretty much shot for being a great year unless they some how pull a win out in Norman which I do not see happening.

(sorry IgnatiusTheKing it was just way to easy)

Pure coincidence. I'm not talking about anybody specifically, though. Nooo.

Yeah, that championship game money is too good to pass up.

By the time Boise gets in the Big East they will find the Mountain West or the WAC would give them a better strength of schedule

Exactly. Every time conference alignment hits Boise we're a day late and a dollar short. Ugh.

I would have been okay-ish with an East/West Big East, but still not a great solution. I don't see the PAC expanding again for a while. The best possible situation for us would be a Big 12 invite, but there's no way that will ever happen either.

Oh well. Just stay in the Mountain West USA Conference, please.

I wonder if there's any truth behind the MWC/C-USA/Big East meeting happening in NYC? Would they really be contemplating a mega conference? Insane.

Bois best hop for an BCS bid conference would be the big 12. Big East is being pick pretty clean and it is looking more and more likely they will loss their auto bid into the BCS.

Word is Big East Commish Marinatto is in Boise as I type trying to nail down details for Boise to join the Big East.

Ugh...
