Let's not get too worked up over a poll that had A&M ranked 6th and Texas Tech ranked 15th. These things are all terribly flawed this early in the season (as late as it already is). The bottom line is that, if both teams go undefeated, Stanford will have done it against a better body of work (Washington, USC, Oregon, Notre Dame, Pac-12 Champ Game) than Boise will have (UGA, TCU).

The odds of both teams winning out is pretty slim, so just sit back and enjoy your team winning every week and let things shake out. It's much better than the alternative. Trust me.

Classic... that was good. What makes this better is I can soo see the ESPN guys in the booth going.. hey... HEY!!!! That is funny but we need to get it off the air..lol.

Well, campus itself is pretty historic looking and a good walk, so that could be something.

As far as cuisine and shopping, the best thing is probably Campus Corner. It's literally right across the street from campus and has a lot of restaurants and stores. For food (something quick) I'd recommend Victoria's Pasta Shop or Hideaway Pizza. If you want a more sit-down kind of restaurant, you could stop at Interurban which is right off I-35 on the way back from OKC, Lindsey street exit (108B).

Right on, thanks!

We're actually staying in OKC (Bricktown) but my Dad is legendary for getting antsy and wanting to be at the stadium hours before the game. Hanging out somewhere within walking distance of the stadium means that I won't get suckered into sitting IN the stadium hours and hours early.

If your niece wants to get drunk every night and find a husband that will make slightly more than minimum wage his entire life, Texas Tech is the place for her ;)

Heh, I'll have to tell her that. She just started Juco this year, and is trying to figure out where to go next. I told her as long as it isn't UT Austin, she would be ok. Darn tea-sippers. :p

Hey hey, You are taking advice from TTU from an Aggie.

Tech is a good school. The campus is pretty just it is a long walk to about anywhere on campus. The campus is HUGE.

As for stuff to do well it is like any college and really it is get involved. Mostly it is just learning about what is in the area but lets face it most of the time life revolves around the campus any how and one big school to another there is not much that changes in that department.

The walk unless it is a very cold windy day. Personally I liked TTU over the other schools in Texas.
UT was too big.
A&M is a cult.
Tech size and area is what fit with what I liked.

Wow never seen a school rack of 60 points and still loose. I have seen a few 50 points games lost but that was either TTU or the school TTU was playing but at the time TTU had the number 1 rated offence and the last rated defense.

Tarrant County College. I figure she'll probably wind up at UT Arlington because I don't see her going all the way to Lubbock. I've been encouraging A&M, since it's not too far from DFW, and they have awesome school colors. :D

It really kind of just depends on what she wants to study.

A&M is about 180 miles from Fort Worth (so roughly a three hour drive), but if she wants to go there she should really move to College Station and go to Blinn instead. They have a joint program (affectionately known as Blinndergarten) where you can go to JUCO and earn your way into A&M if you get good enough grades.

There are several good schools in the DFW area. As Tomorrow said, The Univ of North Texas has several good programs. UT-Arlington is actually one of the big up-and-coming public schools in Texas, and though it's a commuter school (for the most part), they are dumping money and resources into the school to change that.

She should also take a look at TCU. Though it's a private school (and thus much more expensive), it's not as hard to get into as some of the others and they do have a lot of scholarships available if they think you bring something to the table.

Translation: I went where I could get in.

(Not that there's anything wrong with that)

Tell you the truth I could of gotten in to either school no problem. I choose TTU for the exact reason I stated. A&M is way to cult like for my taste. For the majors I was interested in TTU is among the best in the country.

It's about a four hour drive. UNT is much closer, if you're looking for a public school. Texas Woman's University is also in Denton, and has a beautiful campus.

Try is still in weekend drive home range and the driver can easily be done in 4-5 hours no problem. I have made the drive from Lubbock to DFW quite a few times. I would encourage you all to visit the schools as you get a much better feel for them. I really like TTU's feel. That is the most important part. Each school has there own traditions.
Do not forget to figure in cost of living and in that fact Lubbock is a lot cheaper than others because of how far it is from on of the major cities.

It did not fit my brother but it was because it was way to far from home (600 miles)

So what's the prediction for the A&M/OU game? I think this one will be close through three quarters, with OU finally pulling away in the 4th.

We have a terrible record in Norman against Bob Stoops, and typically it hasn't been close after the first quarter (and sometimes not even then), but judging on hw these teams have performed in th first halves of games this year, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see A&M take a decent (~10 point) lead into halftime and blow it in the third quarter.

Based on media coverage, I thought all games were cancelled for the LSU - Bama game

Nah, just moved up to 2:30 ;)

Almost there!

...now I remember why 10 years ago I told myself I'd never drive to Vegas again.. Heh.. Spending three hours in a pretty bad snow storm didn't help, either.

And no, I'm not posting this while driving. Heh. I took the first five hour shift. Now I'm kickin back in the back seat of my car while one of my buddies drives. ;)

^^^^
AT&T's coverage is pretty good!
Cause BCS coverage is nowhere to be found on that map :D

Ha ha ha!

You're a bastard. ;)

I've been to Vegas many times, but this has been the first time I've been here with just my buddies. Wow. Just, wow. I'm very glad I don't drink. Heh heh.

Dawgs win their scrimmage game over New Mexico State in a big way

Now, for the big game tonight
No, not the Bama-LSU game
The Arkansas-SCarolina game!

As much as I detest Bobby Petrino, I will be calling the hogs tonight
Woo Pig Sooie

We're bowl eligible - woohoo!!!

Heh - it's a funny feeling to be happy about that. ;)
